Moring, I have looked at most of your past video's and was interested in knowing or if you have ever done or would be doing a video on the De-barking of the logs and explain the reason for De-barking. I know some mills don't and some do. I understand if you don't have time. Enjoyed the video, Thanks for sharing.
Ya buddy I can do a debarker video just give me some time circular mills don’t need to debark because they throw the sawdust down and away from the cut. But bandsaw mills drag the sawdust and dirt through the cut dulling the blade quickly. But I will explain more in a video
@@TheWildWestMillHey Mr. West ! John here. Hope you had a good holiday. One of the biggest reasons most mills debark their logs is because when they turn the slabs and waste into chips and send them to paper mills or press board plants, they don’t want bark in their products. Hope that helps.
@ just glad you appreciate them and keep on truckin! Ps. And if they’re not chipped at the right size they can be rejected. So you have to keep an eye on the chipper during knife changes.
I sure have I have just hit the tip of the dogs a bunch of times. And once the bottom one broke and I didn’t see it and I cut it with the saw destroyed the saw broke 10 shoulders off it threw all the shanks and sawbits all over the mill. Very very dangerous
Enjoyed the video, thanks.

@JohnNaturkach I actually did not know that. We do not have any paper mills here. All our chips go to a Scott’s fertilizer plant.
@JohnNaturkach Hope you had a great holiday as well. Thank you. You always have the answers lol
