They are, at their heart, authoritarian, and believe the ideal government is a strongman who protects them and their ability to attack others. Over the years they have created various 'citizen grand juries' to pass laws and try people they don't like, and they always end up with a strongman+inner circle and spend as much time trying to deligitimize other 'citizen grand juries' as attack the government.
The idea generally in their minds is that since Trump in general is pretty nebulous about what he believes in. Yes he has a few very specific policies, but in general if you ask him "do you think X" he'll dance around and give a non comital answer. So you get to prescribe whatever beliefs you want him to have onto him, whether it's true or not. Think about the notion of small government. If you ask them, they'll tell you Trump believes in pulling back federal government control. When in actuality when it comes to overarching federal power such as eminent domain, he is a massive supporter of it. When you're position is simply "anti-blank" rather then a clear solution, your supporters get to decided that you believe in what they want to believe. Hence sovergn citizens believe that Trump fully supports the idea and if given another term would have rolled everything back and publicly supported them (even though there's no indication he even knows what they are talking about)

What I find so interesting about “Sovereign Citizens” is that they have an extraordinary belief in the power of words. Most people believe that words have power- for example, when you say “I do” under the right circumstances, it makes you married. But “Sovereign Citizens” take this belief to a remarkable degree. They think they can click their ruby slippers three times, say “U.S. laws don’t apply to me,” and that will make it true.
Eh, words _do_ have power, ever since the dawn of recorded history, and quite possibly even before that, every invasion, war, and genocide has been started with nothing more than words, a sufficiently eloquent demagogue can throw the world into chaos because it is inhabited by idiots, but words can also comfort someone in grief or give them a reason to live on, words hold more power than even the mightiest weapon we've ever created. When I visit another country, I’m not a citizen but I am subject to that county’s laws. Sovereign citizens are still subject to our state and federal laws once they step off their own private property and onto public property.

Each state is it's own separate country. Public property belongs to the sovereign as he is one of the people or their posterity [read the preamble to the constitution]. Therefore, public property is the sovereigns property and you with your U.S. passport are a foreign agent and are a third party interloper.

@@ReadingInRedding you mean technically they weren't even "driving". Driving is a commercial activity and requires licensing of a PERSON [an entity, usually a U.S. citizen]. Driving doesn't apply to people or American nationals. Also, traveling does not require a license.
Public roads are free to the public. Sovereigns don't have to pay taxes since they are the beneficiaries of the public trust. People who are employed act as trustees and pay taxes.

Over the years they have created various 'citizen grand juries' to pass laws and try people they don't like, and they always end up with a strongman+inner circle and spend as much time trying to deligitimize other 'citizen grand juries' as attack the government.

The idea generally in their minds is that since Trump in general is pretty nebulous about what he believes in. Yes he has a few very specific policies, but in general if you ask him "do you think X" he'll dance around and give a non comital answer. So you get to prescribe whatever beliefs you want him to have onto him, whether it's true or not.
Think about the notion of small government. If you ask them, they'll tell you Trump believes in pulling back federal government control. When in actuality when it comes to overarching federal power such as eminent domain, he is a massive supporter of it. When you're position is simply "anti-blank" rather then a clear solution, your supporters get to decided that you believe in what they want to believe. Hence sovergn citizens believe that Trump fully supports the idea and if given another term would have rolled everything back and publicly supported them (even though there's no indication he even knows what they are talking about)

What I find so interesting about “Sovereign Citizens” is that they have an extraordinary belief in the power of words. Most people believe that words have power- for example, when you say “I do” under the right circumstances, it makes you married. But “Sovereign Citizens” take this belief to a remarkable degree. They think they can click their ruby slippers three times, say “U.S. laws don’t apply to me,” and that will make it true.
Eh, words _do_ have power, ever since the dawn of recorded history, and quite possibly even before that, every invasion, war, and genocide has been started with nothing more than words, a sufficiently eloquent demagogue can throw the world into chaos because it is inhabited by idiots, but words can also comfort someone in grief or give them a reason to live on, words hold more power than even the mightiest weapon we've ever created. The problem with these muppets though, is that they're too stupid to make any use of that power, you could kind of say that in a battle of wits and rhetoric they're woefully unarmed. And hogtied.

That's dumb .. you basically negated yourself. A sovereign is someone with no accountability even to themselves. A citizen is a subject of a state. Since you added citizen to the word sovereign, you basically put yourself back in their jurisdiction. A true Sovereign would have shot the 3rd party interloper for stopping them in their travels. You aren't supposed to stop a sovereign for any reason, even during an emergency. They have their own people who will take care of it.

I've met a couple, my favourite argument with them is public roads. So they don't want to pay taxes but they're happy to drive on public roads everywhere they go. If you don't want to pay taxes and you stay at home oh, start Paving some roads away from your house and you can drive on those :-)
