Thanks for watching! I love getting it out seeing what it can do! I'm with you on the 2 door. That would be a beast! They made them from 2005 until 12 (I think). That generation came with 4.56 gears. Would love to have one of those!
It’s had a big impact on us for sure ! That is one bad Ram and Kelly will show you he knows how to wheel it right away. Kelly is an outstanding person and plays a big role in the full size truck world ! Great person, awesome rig 👍👍👍.
Kelly is one of a kind for sure! Definitely not afraid to wheel it. We are so glad to have Kelly and his full size truck to show others what a full size is capable of.
Thank you for the kind words! The thing I like the most about time on the trail is meeting good people, and you are one of the best I've met! Can't wait to run the trails with you again!
This channel and seeing the places Kelly takes his wagon are the two main reasons why I bought mine and started wheeling/overlanding. Just one more way to explore the outdoors in my opinion. Seeing you all wheel areas that are in my neck of the woods and giving it a very real world view are truly appreciated. White Knuckle sliders arrive Monday and the Dethloff transmission/oil pan/exhaust skid will be installed the following weekend. 37's are next with some Aev's as well. I just finished up sections 2,3 and 4 of the MABDR from South to North with an extended stop in the GWNF hitting Union Springs to flagpole, Dictum and Second Mountain along with various other unnamed trails along the way. I lost count of the other folks on the trail who were amazed at how capable it is basically stock.
That sounds like an awesome build. So glad we were able to be of some encouragement! We are looking at doing the MABDR next year. Thank you for watching!
Trevor, thanks! Your PW is going to be set-up! I've looked at the Dethloff skid but they've been out of stock every time I tried ordering one. A great addition, for sure. Glad you're getting out and enjoying it. These trucks were made to be used! The look on some faces when you're out on the hard stuff is pretty awesome, isn't it!
Thanks for the information on Kellys' Power Wagon. Great videos as always. I read a comment another viewer wrote when you did the Utah/Colorado trip. They said that they were going to trade their Jeep in for a Power Wagon after seeing Kelly drive his through all those areas.
Great info!! As a guy learning from videos like this...very well done! As an ultralight backpacker there are some ultralight pad inflators that would help w the sleeping pad at high elevation. Therm-a-Rest NeoAir Micro Electric Air Pump is a good one. I've even seen it used in place of a pocket bellows for starting fires.
@@kellypw8186 no problem! I totally understand! I mainly backpack w a hammock. But when I do use a tent....the pad is always the last of the camp chores I want to do lol!
Thanks for watching! The FTM-400 has worked well for me. Yeasu has an FTM-300 also that is digital on both channels but loses the large touch screen. Both are great radios!
What rock sliders are these? They look wider throughout the length compared to the rear kick out tube than how they come from White Knuckle or Maple Leaf. Too dirty to see a name on the side of them - maybe one of those two manufactures with a little custom extra width?
I'm curious if Kelly put twelve inch wide tires on the ram would it clear and not rub anything on the front end if he switched the tires up to a fourty inch tire or better on it cause I know for sure the more narrow the tires the more traction you'll have too that's one bad ram cause it's impressed me here too
Thanks, James! In a 37, twelves hit less for sure. Going up to 40's, no matter how narrow, requires a lot of changes. The front and back of the fender have to be cut out for starters. It's do-able, AEV has a kit that makes it pretty clean when done, but it's a bit of a commitment. There's no cheap easy way to go back from it. That's why I'm still on the fence.
@@CoddiwompleOverland the narrow the tire gives you more pounds per square inch of service area and it puts more weight on it too now and the wider the tire makes it lesser of pounds per square inch too putting it short the more pounds per square inch gives you alot better traction for your rig too
Jack, thanks for watching. Yes my spare is still a 35 and it's in the stock location. Now that I'm on 37s but my spare is a 35, I'll have to put the spare on front and not use the front locker if it comes to that but it should get me off of the trail at least.
Kelly, inspiring! Question, what kinds of tire pressure are you running off road? I just got into a Ram 2500 and not sure what airing down should look like. Thanks for using your truck for its purpose.
Thanks for watching, Jason. Depends on how fast I expect to be going and how tough the trail is getting. If it's not too bad or I need to hop back on pavement, I drop to 40 front, 35 rear. With the weight of these trucks, the tires dont like high speed pavement much lower and I can be lazy about airing back up 5 times a day. If I won't have to jump off of the trail I've been going to 30 front 25 rear. The lowest I'll usually go, when I really need traction, is 25 front, 20 rear. The tires get really squishy and without beedlocks, that's as far as I've been comfortable. If I were just running in sand I might try lower but the trails I run have a lot of side load and these trucks are HEAVY! Good luck on the trail with your 2500! Have a blast!
@@kellypw8186 thanks for the info, this will help me get a starting point, coming from a TJ were I had a starting air down of 15, this bigger truck is a learning curve. Thanks again, look forward to seeing your adventures.
Obviously, you can save a lot of time and effort getting the right equipment package. Getting the Power Wagon meant lots of things provided. My 2019 Ranger is a sport package, not the ZX4. Well, hindsight is always better. My upgrade process will be a little extended, but the Sport was available and the deal too good to ignore. Oh, and Kelly and his truck are my new roll models.
Awesome truck if they could downsize to the Colorado size that would be even better for trail riding. Just discovered BaHa racing wince . Very powerful and fast. Designed for the race fast recovery🤗🇺🇸
I had the driver's side front axle seal fail at about 110k miles so I replaced both axle seals and front axle u-joints. That and front brake pads and rotors is really all I've done to it.
@@CoddiwompleOverland, that could be very possible. I think the power wagon is a tough looking truck. After these videos I see how capable they are. I use my 2500 ram for heavy towing. @@jasonmuth1040 third hand info I've heard is that it's because of weight and the intercooler not fitting with the winch. No idea how true that is though. I'm with you on the room.
