- That's right, we test rode the brand new Triumph Scrambler 400 X and Triumph Speed 400 and boy do we have some thoughts about them! These are the brand new, 400cc single cylinder leaner approved bikes from Triumph that are set to shake up the learner market.
Thanks so much to the newest member of the Biker Torque Team Lukas, who went to Melbourne to test ride both of these bikes. Sounded like a blast! If you wanted a more in-depth analysis on the two bikes, Lukas has published some articles which give you additional information, comparisons and heaps more, check them out!

Welcome Lucas! Both of you did a great job. Can’t wait till triumph finally gets those bikes here to the states.
They sure did
Welcome Lucas. Loved the way you described the handling.
Glad you liked it!
loving the new host, seems to know his stuff. looking forward to more
Definitely knows his stuff
Gotta keep him after that, bold claim of jumping the bike! Great vid!
You got that right!
Great review. Anxious for mine to arrive in the states.
Thanks. Hope you enjoy it when it arrives
Both bikes look really cool! Can’t wait to see them for myself. Thanks for the great review, it was very comprehensive and entertaining! 0:11
Thanks, glad you liked the video
Nailed it Lucas! I definitely see the price going up for the 2025 range, get in while you can folks!
we agree.
Just for your information; many Triumph’s have been manufactured in Thailand for years. Bajaj don’t make Royal Enfield motorcycles; they do make KTM 390’s and many others.
👍
Red Speed 400 all the way!
No arguments from me
After watching the Revzilla ride, I’d definitely take the Scrambler. They look like a really fun new range.
With folks hating on the bike not being made in the UK, have they been living under a rock? lol never mind, that was a rhetorical question.
Looks like RE may now have some serious competition in this segment
@@BikerTorque that’s it. And the thing is, the competition eventually figured out the winning formula, copies it and if the original doesn’t keep up, it ends up like the rest of the English automotive industry. Obliterated. RE definitely needs to begin thinking about their models further into the future.
@@whatsstefon RE biggest problem is their engine output. They're overweight and underpowered.
@@molonlabe9602 for their biggest market (India) the engines are just fine. In other countries like the US, EU and Australia, we’re use big capacity, we’re use to 100HP and more. It doesn’t work as well. But truthfully, they’re plenty enough.
The scrambler frame is a bit modified at the neck.
Yes I believe it is
Great job Lucas. How tall are you by the way?
Shall confirm, but pretty sure Lukas is over 6’2”
Thanks. I’m 6’2 and had exactly the same issues. Scrambler was a good height for me but the Speed was a clown bike for me. I wasn’t overly excited by either. They look fantastic but performance leaves a bit of a “if only” feeling. Still, they’re a good value proposition if you don’t want to get off road too much.
Bajaj don't manufacture Royal Enfield motorcycles; Eicher Motors manufacture the Royal Enfield in their own facility.
Thanks
You really know how to potentially lose Triumph a lot of sales to experienced riders by using the condescending cliché of ‘beginner bikes’.
That terminology really is old hat now.
Many of us who have been riding for decades LOVE smaller capacity bikes.
Come on.
Thanks for the feedback
