Maidenhead chairman Peter Griffin speaking to Sky Sports News after former player Max Kilman's £40m move to West Ham:
"Tremendously proud. When Max was with us, we knew he was a real talent but I'd be lying to say I knew how good his talent was.
"His attitude has helped him progress and we're delighted for him.
"There's always a negotiation about price and we always put a sell-on clause in. Sometimes it pays off. It's fair to say this is a big deal.
"It's an amount that could profoundly change the course of the club. We're a part-time team competing in the Nations League, but we have a women's team, a development squad for girls, an academy and a community scheme.
"The money coming in is not just going to affect the men's first team, it's going to affect the women's team, what we do in our community and the infrastructure."

Maidenhead is a great club. Doing amazing staying in the national league for so long on their budget
They should make sell on clauses MANDATORY for players who've spent time at another club, so that the clubs who played a part developing them always get a slice
Manchester City put 20% sell on clause on all transfers.
they already do, for development atleast, think post singing a 21 year old you have to put it in yourself
@@interstellarbeatteller9306 if the clubs am smart bro that’s what they usually do. That’s been around for ages now
@@TooRiskyHD I know the Football League give out minute percentages & capped compensation, but the rules are different according to Premier league, UEFA etc etc, so I'm talking about a 10% standard on all transfers Worldwide
@@Mikejames1080 City also have buy-back clauses on all the prospects they let go...they can stockpile players to be cute with financial fair play
Family Guy reference with that chairman
As a wolves fan I'm sad to see kilman go but really happy a small club has really benefited from this
did this bloke forget his shoes? sky presenters looking like kids on their way home from school these days
He is the opposite of normal
they are too afraid to criticise his 'personality'.
Appalling clobber from this reporter. An absolute crime 😂
Congratulations Maidenhead and Alan Devonshire the legend, hope this windfall transforms your club and hope to meet you in a cup match one day. Massive support from west ham fans. Good luck! COYI⚒️
Dev is brilliant. We're still a part time outfit, have only around 23/24 players meaning injuries etc are a severe problem, but Dev has the side working so hard/100% that we've defied the odds for near a decade in the NL. The "Big" clubs dropping from the EFL call it being Devonshired when we beat them !! For some weird reason, fans of clubs like Southend Oldham etc get all huffy when we sing them an old Who song. "Who are you ? Who Who Who Who ?" I dont know why XD We cant beat the odds forever, but its been great and its down to Dev with his able assistant Ryan Peters and a side that fights and works 100%. Cant ask for more.
Happy We could help!
COYI.
Back in my day as a kid I remember Kevin Keegan and the late, great Ray Clemence joining Liverpool form Scunthorpe...and of course Shankly joining as manager from Workington. As a Wolves fan I just want to add my thanks to Maximillian Killman for his service to our club, whilst at the same time wishing Maidenhead much luck for the forthcoming season...spend it like you stole it. "C'mon me babbies." UTW.
Happy we could help. Big thanks to Matt Hobbs as well, absolute genius getting 40m out of west ham for kilman. Up the wolves
Bird is the word
Nice move for Kilman
It is 10% so £4m not £6-8m…SKY should have known that FFS…🙈
Fair play to Maidenhead wasn’t to keen on Kilman but he’s got all the attributes you want in a defender. Glad wolves could provide this but not just them thanks to Westham and big up to Matt Hobbs who fought to bring Kilman to wolves then sold him for 40m ❤fair play all
Probably due around 6 million, they could have a good go at prmotion next season
FM players - Maidenhead top 1 club to manage in FM25
Wolves fan here. So glad for Maidenhead. Good luck to Max too.
Imagine asking someone a question you know you shouldn’t answer and yet you persist, that’s so freaking wrong
Any player coming from the lower leagues should have big sell on clauses to help the lower league teams.
It’s really nice to know that West Ham are seriously supporting the lower league teams,,, instead of it all going Dave Sullivan pocket
Nothing really to do with West Ham …….youd have to break Sullivan arms to agree to this.
@@adrianrichards247 he has pull some really awkward strokes in the past,,, which make our club West Ham look ridiculous transfer wise around the world
Max Kilmans parents are from Ukrainian and russian heritage so the war between Russia and Ukraine affected him some way in the past.
The then former coach of Ukraine national team the one and only Andrej Schevchenko tried to lure and convince Kilman to play for the ukrainian senior national team but FIFA blocked the move because Kilman has already played at Futsal level for England.
He played 25 games for England at Futsal level from the age of 18.
he can definitely swap if he applies himself.
@@Hourani95 if you doubt it check this news from Google"In March 2021, Ukraine coach Andriy Shevchenko announced that he had formally asked FIFA to switch Kilman's national allegiance to Ukraine, but also enquired of them as to whether his appearances for the England futsal team would make him ineligible for Ukraine.[37] On 7 April 2021, FIFA rejected the application, confirming that his appearances for England in competitive futsal matches ties him to playing for England in any form of football".
There you go
@@Hourani95Futsal count as full international caps
@@encorefootball The bar for a international cap is very low. Emilio Nsue playing 1 minute at the youth euros for Spain and now banned from representing Equatorial Guinea is an example.
Bros literally got the name and the glasses of the guy in family guy 😂😂😂
As a wolves fan I hope this money does wonders for maidenhead 🖤💛 roughly £4m+ 🙌 think its in the region of 15% sell on clause
Sell on clause was 20% but Wolves strong armed Maidenhead to take 10% should have got £8m not £4m
@@chrisraine4678 was just a rough estimate i obviously don't for sure I'm sure they will use it well 💪
Loving this story - go on maidenhead!
Buzzing for Maidenhead. Best of luck.
How is it a 7 year year deal, PL banned contracts longer than 5 years, what is going on?
They didn't ban the contracts they just capped the amortisation at 5 years
they didn't ban long contracts, just how the books work
so basically take what Chelsea did with all those players on like 8 year contracts, according to the FFP books, that's how spread out the transfer fee is, so say it's 80 million for ease of maths, that'd be 10 million a year
so they stopped that FFP loophole by putting it at a cap of 5 years, so that same 80 mil is now 16 million over 5 years, even if the contract is still 8 years
And lets not forget wolves made them reduce their sell on fee by around half.
It was either reduce it or we wont sell so Maidenhead were held to ransom and lost around 4million
Fair play happy for max and Maidenhead good business for us at wolves 👏🏽
Excellent news 👍👌👏
This guy is a really good national league chairman. Super professional
Shame arguably the greatest ever non league to top flight player wasn’t highlighted - Maidenhead manager Alan Devonshire who West Ham signed from £5k from Southall ended up being voted a few years ago the 5th greatest Hammer of all time with only Billy Bonds, Sir Trevor Brooking, Sir Geoff Hurst and Bobby Moore in front of him
Peter is just great
Have a word with this reporter sky
Sounds quite like Martin Keown!!
And that
Anyone see the presenter trainers with his suit 😂
I honestly wish EPL clubs could donate on a monthly basis to these lower league clubs ( I mean a 500K to 1 million pounds )
For EPL clubs that is absolutely nothing. It would make football grow across all stages.
Start
Wow! Good for them!
Fair play Max more England caps
Mhmm
Re-open the Honeypot and sack off Stripes bar
Big brain 🧠💪
West Ham get a good defender ; Wolves did amazing from a £40,000 player to £40 mill and Maidenhead get a tidy £4 mill on top
Probably 10% so 4 mill
👍👍
Interviewer …needs to move on when people don’t give the answer twice when asked …..just makes him seem limited
Jordan’s… with that outfit…
Peter griffin 😂😂😂
Peters lost alot of weight!
peter griffin.. hehehe GIGGITY ;)
Thank goodness United didn’t go for Kilman as De Ligt will cost only slightly more and has won major trophies
Yeah
But
Their cost to club will be very diff as De Ligt will earn significantly more.
United weren’t even interested in Kilman anyways. He is very good but he’s not De Ligt level.
Happy with De Ligt
De Ligt has way higher wages
You'll soon see why Bayern didn't want him
Enjoy the months out with injuries every season de ligt will have
Peter griffin 🥸🥸🥸
Gotta buy some players with this money surely? Even if they're players you can sell on in the future
Who?🤔
whats the presenter wearing?? jesus
Thank god his name is Peter Griffin actually. Cause he looks like Epstein.
Peter Griffin😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Shame that Wolves threatened Maidenhead into reducing their sell-on to 10% from 20%, otherwise they wouldn't have sold him. Premier League is a disgrace.
All parties not just wolves were involved in the deal
Left one crap club and joined an even crapper club 😂😂😂
Then he joined west ham 😂
@@josephridler-em5pk who?
Lemme guess, your a plastic fan that chose to support a team just because they win games even though you have never lived in that area nor have any real reasons to support them other then that they are winning? If so your opinion is no longer valid
Hey Lois, remember that Time I put a sell on clause in Kilmans deal?
