Awesome road trip. Were you able to get the bikes all the way down to Hat Yai via the train in the end? I thought you were only allowed to take 150cc scooters on the train nowadays.
Cheers! Yes, we did get the bikes from Chiangmai>Bangkok>Hat Yai by train. Yes, at one point there was a capacity limit for bikes, but it seems to have been lifted now.
Thanks for the vlogs! Inspired me to complete the mhs loop that I didn’t manage to complete more then 10 years ago.. back then no gps no train.. now seems like easier to go with gps and train.. Quick question if u don’t mind- 1) train station - luggage follow u to your seats? (Even if got 3 boxes?) 2) CM->BKK will we be able to up train same day from BKK to Hatyai? Or next day? 3) any tips for fellow riders? 😉 Thanks in advance!
Cheers! I hope you'll get to do it some day. It is easier to do now for sure. 1.) YMMV, occasionally you might be able to get your luggage along with the bike in the cargo train. 2.) As we were not travelling during peak periods, we were able to get tickets (human and bikes) to Hatyai on the same day of arrival to BKK. Again, YMMV. 3.) I'll try to make a video and share my tips. I'm no expert, but maybe it'll help!
nice trip report, thanks for sharing I did phuket to pai and back two months ago. best time for Thai touring is DEC Jan Feb ,no rain or smoke ask your friend on BMW how is noise mt atom flip up helmet is? I bought for trip and noise on left side is terrible at 100kph !
Thank you and I hope you enjoyed watching the videos! Aside from noise the bigger concern faced for him is build quality. But for the price, you can’t really complain.
