Some people are absolutely unhinged and shouldn't be allowed to drive, imagine being so worked up and pathetic about something as insignificant as a drive thru at McDonalds. Unreal.
boycott McDonalds
And that goes for both drivers! Although the van driver started it the cammer behaved just as stupidly!
@@AM-mv6ro Why...? I mean, sure, if you're advocating against supporting genocide but not because of this video
@@adinigel Why? What exactly did he do wrong just because he moved up first. And the courts obviously sided with him. Sometimes a little patience is needed. Bloke in the van deserves everything the court gave him.
@@adinigel I would agree at most merge in turn situations. If the guy's insisting on being pushy save yourself the hassle. But I let a lopsided haircut in a white SUV push in front of me in a drivethrough a few years ago and the expected happened. As she was out of order in line, they let her pay for my food and then tried to charge me £25 for her order to feed all of her kids. I explained she'd pushed in front and mine was the £7 order but as she'd already paid it took ages and a manager to sort it out. So I think people ought to know that it's helpful to queue in the order that your food order was completed!
Guy must be on his 50s but still has the mindset of a toddler. I'm glad he got humbled in court.
This is also why I think drive throughs are dangerous, in the sence that if you encounter an violent idiot, you've got no escape opportunities..
Ages doesn’t mean mature especially when they’re driving a white van, I drive a van myself and find them to be the biggest idiots on the road.
It was when he said "that's it no more said" proves he wasn;t even willing to listen to the cammer.
drive throughs aren't dangerous
@@5wheels178 neither is that van driver tbh
Gosh, you should never leave your house if you think drive throughs are dangerous lol
Could you imagine getting so angry at something so insignificant?
British van drivers are pretty much cavemen. Thick as shit and quick to anger.
As an occasional Twitter user, I can, unfortunately.
I would have held back because it was obvious the van driver was a twat, but he did start queuing 1st. I'm not suggesting the car driver did anything wrong, but I've been at both ends of this situation at McDonald's, & if you can see someone's going to be a dick about it, just stay out of the way.
Absolute comedy gold imo
He must have really wanted his Big Mac
I can't be the only one that thinks any aggressive tendencies whilst in control of a vehicle should cost you your licence. And I don't mean a ban, I mean revoke the whole thing and make them start again like they are 17.
That man got out to have a go at someone, clearly no stranger to throwing himself about, then used his 3 tonne van as a weapon just to prove a pathetic point.
Driving is all about the right attitude all the time and clearly this man has the wrong one and is therefore dangerous.
I genuinely agree. It would be a really effective tool.
Yeah. The court should charged him with aggressive driving.
People don't appreciate that a vehicle is a lethal object in the hands of an operator. If you see someone aggressive like this with a gun or a knife, they're getting their licence revoked. I don't know why this principle isn't applied to lunatics in vehicles.
Absolutely, this played out at low speed and in an area where there wasn't oncoming traffic or pedestrians; how much would you trust him not to do the same out on the open road.
Harsh. Nobody'd have a licence in Liverpool 🤔
Perfect advertisement for front and rear dash cams. You never know when something like this will happen!
They are also very handy. I upgraded from front cam to front and rear camera. The upgraded was needed due to people braking the 2 second rule and not following temporary speed limits.
Yes very true. I have been resisting getting a cam as I feel it will clutter up the interior but increasingly I feel it’s essential now
@@theotendleeey You can get some cameras that fit nicely behind the centre mirror and with a good hard wire kit the cables can be tucked away behind the trim making the clutter almost non existent 👍
@@smilerbobYep, mount the cam, behind the mirror, and tuck the cables in, behind the trim.
I've got a dual camera setup, and you can't see anything other than the cameras and about an inch of cable as it disappears behind the trim.
fishing the rear cable, through the boot, and along the existing wiring duct to the top of the hatch, was a bit of an operation, though.
All you see is the camera.
I used to work at a McDonald's and can confirm that whoever completes their order first should in theory be the next in line in terms of car order.
That being said, the system normally takes a picture of the driver as well, so that the staff can choose the correct order if the cars haven't merged in the same way.
With the above in mind, I think I would have held back here and let the van driver skip ahead.
To me, they'd already closed that space down and was giving the impression that they were going to push forwards with no thought of anyone else.
I've no argument for the way he dealt with the cammer afterwards, but I don't think it was worth getting into that situation in the first place.
Glad to see he saw his day in court though.
Does having two ordering points really speed anything up?
I can confirm and add that anyone who thinks they skipped the queue just holds it up for everyone else but their order is still behind so they will be parked
I don't know the way the order system works but your answer is spot on. I would of held back too. You'll get your order either way.
I couldn’t have said it better. Spot on.
Why does he think McDonalds splits out to let two drivers order at once if they're meant to then go back to their original ordering, rather than just having one ordering point? Just a total bully.
But he was ahead of the cammer! How dare the cammer try to get ahead of him just by having a smaller order or taking less time to pay!!
@@stevenrix7024 Don't you usually pay at the next window? Either way, that knobhead would've probably thrown a fit about "getting the wrong order" if the cammer did submit and let him go past.
Actually, over 99% of people in the UK don't understand this concept and have the same mentality. You will see the exact same thing happen whenever you have two lanes merging into one a few miles ahead. The majority of drivers will be queueing in one lane thinking nobody should use the other lane (as if it was there as a decoration) and trying to block anybody in the other lane.
I am alwasy perplexed why police men ( not many officers anymore) drive through that.
I never use it.
I walk in and am quicker.
If people are in a rush , why dont they use online order app and park and pick.
@@stevenrix7024 If this isn't sarcasm (I think it is? Not sure) then you really do need to consider that if they wanted the queue to fully remain in place, they would only have one order intercom.
If you get that angry at a McDonald's drive through I genuinely think you shouldn't be allowed to drive. A hazard to everyone around him...
1:36 The van drivers steering to the right is already telling a story. i wouldn't be heading into that space. No lights tells another story, They don't give a toss.
Clearly not sober.
that and the fact they are driving a white van.
@kenbrown2808 Now, Now Ken.😅
@@Jonc25 hopefully your work schedule is getting less stressful than it was when we first made acquaintance.
@@kenbrown2808Same old. 👍
I know the price of McDonalds has gone up a bit over the last few years. But imagine going there and having to pay £300 😅
I know, I've recently been put off going to a super market car park after someone scrapped the front of my car for the second time because they can't park. Both times they drove off an its not worth the bother taking them to court over a grainy image.
My mum in the 90s went to get a bag of chips in her Renault company car, missed a learner driver in the A piller at a cross roads and pulled out, ripped the front bumper off, think it was over £500 to repair both cars.
She only did that once lol
@@Weakeyedominantdoesnt help that cars in the 70s were on average about 1.4m wide and spaces were 2.4m wide. Today in 2024 cars are now on average about 1.9m wide but spaces are still only 2.4m wide. They are talking about updating them to need to be 2.7m wide which would help. But it's too little too late tbh. Cars have been much wider since late 2000s not updated it in last 20 years
@@sl1d3r1984 agreed on that one. Some car parks have started repainting the spaces using two lines with a small space in the middle. There are a lot of spaces you basically have to kick the kids out of the car before you park now which can be dangerous enough if they're young and thick.
@@sl1d3r1984 You are spot on and its about time car parking regulations recognised this. As an add on I would add that the extra width and size of modern cars is mainly due to added safety features, the inside of the cars is a bit bigger agreed (people are bigger now) but doors are much thicker with side impact protection etc, same with A pillars being wider and blocking the view, roll over a 70's car and the roof will probable crush to the height of the bonnet / boot, a modern car at much faster speed will probable stay intact and the driver will walk away.
In a drive-thru with multiple lanes the employees at the window usually have a picture of the vehicle to go with the order so you can't ruin things by going in the wrong order. However, the most sensible order to proceed is obviously the order in which you finished ordering, not the order in which you arrived like the van driver seems to be arguing
And of course, the correct response to the line being slightly out of order is not to repeatedly strike another vehicle while throwing trash at it
@@DelateriusWhat? I did this last week and it seemed to work quite nicely.
What a knob. Glad he went to court and got fined etc. 👍👍
Imagine sitting in court and have the judge educate you on everything you done wrong 😂😂😂
Even throwing 2 lots of rubbish at the car because they wouldn't let him push in. What a tosser.
In my opinion he still got away with it to some degree.
£311 fine for criminal damage, littering and aggressive behavior in public. Conditional discharge is what you call a slap on the wrist, don't do it again sir. I'm not saying he should be locked up but how you can use your vehicle in an aggressive manner and not receive some points on your licence.
Exactly and then accidentally edging over the white line at a red light can get you £100 and 3 points, as can going 71 on a motorway. You’re looking at a more serious punishment for those two than you are for this. Our sentencing guidelines are flawed, to be polite about it.
I was just about to say the same thing, he got a slap on the wrist. Should have been £3111 not £311
No points on licence because NO OFFENCE committed on a public highway. Its private ground.
Weather no offence was committed. He was clearly using hive vehicle as weapon. What’s there to stop him doing this to an actual person or animal? Courts should have banned him for a year.
@@velo3088 they can't ban him. Because they can only ban for offences on a PUBLIC HIGHWAY. The police could prosecute but that would need a complaint of assault. That never happened.
Good on the cammer for taking it all the way to court. Shame that this seems to be the mindset of most van drivers these days.
Don't need to put the "van" in there. It's any vehicle
I'm so glad he got charged. And as you said, even though the damage were light, you can't let them get away with that behavior, because if they're not "punished", they will do way worse in the long run.
Personally I would have let the van in, although he had finished his order after, the Mcdonalds systems doesn't require you collect in the same order. Van drive was obviously being aggressive with their positioning, it's not worth the hassle in the end.
The McDonalds system does have knowledge of what order they come through. I have been in the cam drivers position multiple times but submitted instead, only for there to be confusion at the payment window.
Easily sorted but can be a bit frustrating.
It very obviously went pear shaped from 2:00, just after the cammer (quite reasonably) attempted to assert priority. White Van Man clearly wasn't having it (priority is given not taken) and the cammer would have been wise to back off then, before the situation escalated and while there was still space.
So I asked my son who works at McDonalds and the system where he works takes your picture when you place the order, then when you get to the window they click on your face and your order comes up. Therefore going in sequence is not required.
@simong9067 If priority is given and not taken you cannot asset priority. The van did not give him priority therefore the cammer should've waited
@@alexrusselldev Most likely this was due to staff not doing what they are supposed to do, not about you arriving in a different sequence than ordered. They are supposed to confirm the picture on the order matches you.
I too have been in that situation many times and the worst that happened when I got to the window is the person started to read out the other order and then went "oh wait, that's not you" and proceeded to pull up my order. No confusion involved.

They are not stupid, they just have cameras to see which vechicle has which order 😅
They have plate readers, it's really quite simple.
Yet they do still get it wrong sometimes.
@@jacob1121 When the car (or van) gets to the window, they can't see the plates. This is not a sedate operation; staff are kept to a bare minimum so they need a far easier & quicker way to get the right order than to keep looking at cameras & compare with a photo.
@TheRip72 Having worked a McDonald's drive-through payment window, that's exactly how they work. A picture is taken when you pull up to the order screen, and is then shown to the person at the payment window so they can just select whichever car is in front of them. That's why it doesn't matter if people desync at the split path when ordering.
Are these cameras only for after the order has been taken? There's no point using the outside lane at these drive thrus because the inside lane always gets checked first.
And this is another reason why I park up and go in to order
Yeah I do as well. As the times I have used the drive through there's often some huge amount of idiocy. Mainly some moron nearly colliding with my car as they don't know how to queue and order food. On their phones usually.

I'm in disbelief watching this. Our cammer had already pulled forward whilst the van driver was still ordering. What on earth made the van driver think it was acceptable to then try and get ahead of the cammer after all that? Having said that, as the cammer, I'd have likely waited, given how we can see how sharply to the right the vans wheels were pointing and how they appeared to be determined to get ahead by pulling forward. Still, totally unreasonable and unacceptable behaviour from the van driver, including the throwing of objects as well as hitting the cam car, both with his van as well as bodily. All this over something as trivial as a drive through meal.
What on earth made the van driver think it was acceptable to then try and get ahead of the cammer after all that? A smooth brain, that's what.
the van driver felt that since he started his order first, that secured his place in the queue, plus a merge in turn would place him ahead of the viewer. but in the end, as you say - a drive through meal - and one from McDonalds, at that.
@@PedroConejo1939 That is very presumptuous of you…how do you know there was a brain hiding amongst the sawdust?
The van driver is clearly an idiot. Therefore everything they do has to be measured by that yardstick.
White van man is one of those so called polite British queuers I often see in lane 1 when two lanes merge 2 miles ahead.
So true😂
More like the lane police.
Wish I was as mature as your viewer can’t say I would have handled it this well. Good job on him.
Yep. I paused the video and daydreamed about the revenge.
I wouldn't have. I would have simply let the van go in front of me, instead of trying to make it a race.
I agree. Especially when he says "there's no point arguing with you" - it's totally what I'd be thinking, but my mouth would be going off on one calling him a pathetic nob and probably escalate it unintentionally. I think the argument of "I completed my order first" is meaningless as other commenters have already stated. They will usually confirm your order at the next window or they will have some system that will inform them of which order was yours.
I tend to take the approach you've always taught us, Ashely. Priority is given, not taken. In these situations I will do as the DCer did and show my intention of taking point, but if the other driver wants to be in front then I'll let them go; very much either an "after you" or "if you insist, thank you" type situation for me tbh. I also like to think by letting them go in front I'm more likely to get a hotter/fresher serve of chips :P
Obviously at the end of the day the van driver is a knob and deserves what he got in the end, but we must always think about how we could have made the situation better.
the viewer could have made it a non event. as you say.

White van man at work. Stay clear.
They do try their best to live up to their low reputation. Rather like drivers of black Audis and indicatorless BMWs.
It's a simple merge in turn system. It's not necessarily who's order came through first cos they take down your reg sometimes or even confirm the order is correct before payment is taken.
The Drive though should have refused to serve that van driver on the grounds that their behaviour was unacceptable. Also littering. Intimidation of other customers.
Sure, in a perfect world. The trouble is, staff in these kinds of jobs have to deal with plenty of people being obnoxious directly to them, without having to intervene in disputes between customers as well.
I'd have served him, let him pay by card, then added that to the police file in case the plates were dodgy or something 😉

The car in front collected their food and went off out the car park and queued to exit only to perform a u-turn and head back, presumably because they had a chicken nugget happy meal instead of a big mac meal. All the impatience to go first and ended up being delayed
A big mac meal is served in a bag with a drink loose or in a cup holder and a happy meal is served in a large red and brightly decorated box. And even whilst receiving it though their window they didn't notice? And only noticed whilst leaving the car park?

I believe that driving is a privilege, not a right, and anyone with the mindset of the van driver should lose that privilege until they can demonstrate a more reasonable mindset.
I would absolutely held back. I learned so much from your videos Ash, and one of the most important lessons for me is, *nothing* is worth damaging my car or myself & my passengers for, especially not to get one car ahead. So if I see that someone is this pushy, I would immediately submit and let them go on their merry way. I don't care. I prefer to wait 10 seconds more than to have the hassle of damaging my car, damaging my emotional state, my finances and losing time going to court. Just not worth it for anything, but especially not on a muppet like this guy.
But if you are starving for your McD, your judgement may be altered
perfect comment! I echoed those thoughts myself, I mentioned when the van moves forward the second time, that is my submission point and there is no chance I would continue forwards on the horn. Really not worth whatever comes next!
Some "grown-ups" behave worse than toddlers driving their plastic cars in a sandbox.
You can tell as soon as the van pulled forward the way he did it could escalate. I’d of just waited, there’s nothing to be gained from getting to the window first as the speaker post literally takes a photo when the order starts to be taken so that you can be identified at the payment window and don’t pay for the wrong order.
True I now rarely even beep my horn, I just insult them very colourfully from behind closed windows whilst barely moving my head
I actually recall Ashley making a video some time ago about drive through etiquette, with one of his pupils. That video went very smoothly.
That pupil was just lucky, because sadly 99% of drivers in the UK have the same mentality as the white van man.
At the first window, pay for the van driver's order as well as your own, and then collect both orders from the second window and drive away (very fast)...
Advice for anyone in a similar situation, let the other vehicle go
While the staff expect the payments and collection to be in order of who finished first, the tills are really good at moving orders around so if the driver in front goes first they can bump their order up which changes the collection position as well.
A similar process is used for when you get parked up waiting for an order 👍
Gald your viewer stayed calm and reported this. Completely unacceptable behaviour by the other driver
The 'white van' probably belonged to a company, so the driver wasn't concerned about causing damage! A DPD delivery driver recently damaged a neighbours fence and got away with it. Unfortunately, a neighbour refused to come forward, even though they'd witnessed it and noted the registration.
Friend of mine has a neighbour who gets very angry at people who unsuspectingly park outside his house/front lawn (public road, no parking restrictions, not blocking any driveway)
They saw him drive his van directly into the bumper of a woman’s car, when confronted with “did you just crash into this lady’s car?” He just said “yeah”whilst smiling and when asked for insurance details, he said “the company details are on the back of the van” and slammed the door
Also what’s your other neighbours’ problem
I would personally have given away as soon as the van positioned forwards. The drive-through is perfectly capable of working out who has ordered what via the vehicle. no amount of time saving up the queue was worth damage to your vehicle or having to chase it through insurance and court. Just back off let the idiot go about there day.
You're saying the car driver should have not moved up based on something he can't possibly have known about (the van driver being a horrible human being). Your logic violates cause-and-effect.
@@Exeunt-philae No, but given how far forward the van had moved, it already gives an indication of his mindset. He was already encroaching on the space the cam vehicle needed to pull out. I also would have held back and let him in front, not worth the hassle.
Just to be clear, I am in no way blaming the cam driver, just that after a few times around the block, you pick up the subtle giveaways to the mindset of other drivers and decide it's not worth pushing things to make a point.
It’s on a camera system. There’s a camera next to the screen on the COD box which takes a snapshot of the driver and stores your order against it. When you get round to the window, the cashier on booth 1 selects the appropriate picture, verifies it’s the correct order and that’s how it works so it doesn’t matter which vehicle appears first
Whenever you are in a queue like that, you are captive to whatever psycho is around you. Sadly, the psycho:normal ratio is increasing. I say this reluctantly, but I think that kind of person is attracted to drive-throughs. Best bet if you encounter one is to let them get on with their sad, little life.
This behaviour is one reason I now order inside rather than using the drive through. Easier escape route from the psycho and to be honest, usually quicker as someone quite often holds up the collection point with a “oh, have you also got…”

I very rarely go to a fast food restaurant but when I do, I park-up, get out and walk in, place my order, and walk back out. Pretty much faster that the long queues at the drive up lane.
No it’s not. The drive thru is much faster and more efficient. You’re just wasting parking bays for people who want to eat inside.
Surely the merge in turn rule applies, that’s what I would do🤔but common sense & curtesy should apply 🏁
what about the penalty charge for all the littering?
This is my local maccies in Brighton marina, there is always trouble at this drive through people are morons so impatient
Am I alone in avoiding Drive Thru queues like the plague? Just park up and walk into the shop!
Or just stay at home and order online. Never leave your basement. It's dangerous out there.
I've never used one!
I use the click and collect bays or just go in it's always faster
@@_.Madness._ 😂
I use it when I'm knackered after a long day at work, or after exercise. I use it when the drive through is empty and I can zip around fast. I use it when I had back problems and couldn't walk far. I use it when it's looking busy inside which means it's going to take far too long waiting for 20 uber eats, deliveroo, just eat orders to be processed first. I often use the drive thru, then park up and go inside to eat too.
Does rule 130 of the Highway Code still apply in car parks? Can you cross a solid white line with hatched markings in a car park to enter and leave a parking space?
Once he’s established behind me and blocked in himself, I’d sit there, call the police and just wait. Criminal damage, littering, what else can we have him done for?
Was thinking the same! Make him wait even longer. 😁
Former McDonalds Window 1 Expert here, the till in the window does show the orders in order of which order began first (when the first button was pressed on the till). The speaker boxes also have a stealthy camera in that takes a picture when the first button is pressed on the till to help Window 1 work out whose order is whose. I'd agree that if you finish ordering first then you would naturally be next in the queue but I doubt the van driver was waiting so long because of it being a big order, but more likely was waiting for the person to answer and take his order. Ultimately, it doesn't matter and isn't worth damaging your car as when you get to the collection window if your order isn't ready but the vehicle behind's is, you'll be asked to park up and wait anyway.
I'd guess the van driver was simply frustrated as the queue was taking a long time. I like to think I'm nice and calm behind the wheel but when I was recently stuck in a Drive thru for 30 minutes on the way to pick up someone from an airport - I felt myself beginning to see red.
I think I would have waited too. In the end, it would have been the van driver's role to have told the next window the order which they had and he could have gone on with his day thinking he was Mr Big Balls for getting ahead of a car
Our family motto - in best Derby lingo - is: "Lerrum Gerron Weeyit".
Exactly. I'd rather wait an extra minute than potentially put mine and my passengers safety in danger then have to go through court proceedings to get my car repaired... If the van driver reaction hadn't been so extreme this would be a deluded viewer video.
I see your point and probably would have done the same, but same goes for the van driver. He could have just waited too. After all, it's all of what, 30 seconds? But instead he decided to throw his toys out of the pram over nothing.
@@gram3870 And that's why he's now got a criminal record and is a couple hundred quid out of pocket. Both could have let the other go, but the risk of the other one being a full-on nutter with more than litter to hand makes confrontation ill-advised.
@@PedroConejo1939 Absolutely, I take that approach pretty much all the time. There are some right nutters out there.
No rear park light's on the van in front, and the van behind had no headlights on.
6 month conditional discharge. Why even bother?
It's our legal justice joke system
Likely given if the guy has no previous offences. He turned up and plead guilty, he has now paid compensation and court costs.
These things exist to aid in rehabilitation. The offender has now had a wake up call and for the next 6 months if they have any trouble, they will be re-sentenced for this offense much more harshly.
It serves to provide justice and a wake up call without unnecessarily impacting a persons livelihood the way a custodial sentence or a driving ban would. This, in turn, avoids driving first time offenders back into criminal behaviour.
Probably one of the most reasonable things in the british justice system in my opinion.
I would be interested to know what sentence you think would be necessary.
He's now got a criminal record and can't end up in court again for 6 months, or else he'll face a stiffer sentence. While it was thoroughly obnoxious behaviour, it was hardly going to trouble the annals of criminal history. I'm glad the cammer pursued it.
@@alexrusselldev Custodial, obviously. He has shown he is violent and cannot control his temper. We have people in prison for non violent offences like drug possession and people walking the streets with violent streaks a mile long. The system should aim to protect the public from violence as a bare minimum!
@Slaeowulf no dude, you only put people in prison for really serious things, stop being such an authoritarian. Van man was unhinged, but A car got dented and some litter got thrown on the ground and you want someone to go to prison? Glad you're not in charge!
Thats the thing with the drivethrough its frustrating when someone else just pulls up and has their order taken before you..but whos served first goes first
Can you imagine, had the cammer allowed him to go first, how angry he would he have been when receiving the wrong order?
If you're wondering, they take a picture of you when you order. The person taking payment has a screen of pictures, they click the one that matches the car. (This also means like, they can see whats going on in your car so dont do anything questionable. I saw some weird things during my university job at McDonalds)...
Normally this will be in the order the orders were taken, but, sometimes the order can be wrong (often there will be 2 order takers on headset, one may forget to click the CASH OUT button so the order may not get sent to the payment taker, hence incorrect order numbers.
But its very easily fixed as the person taking payment can just confirm the photo, and everything is fine. It doesnt really matter what order the cars come, you could let 5 cars past and theyd be fine.
That should be a driving ban in my opinion.
Had similar at a drive through near me. Late night and the driver and passenger were doing balloons, even in front of the staff/CCTV at McDonalds and got aggressive when challenged. Called 999 to report an impaired driver, large police station about 250m away, told the police where they were and told them where they were parked off site to eat. And I parked up to observe the fun, of course no cops turned up and 15mins later they just drove off.
People that use vehicles in this manner should be banned
Result; If you re going to act foolish, you are going to charged with being foolish 🤑.
Great video and outcome ❤
If I were seeing this through the cameras I'd add a littering surcharge to the bill, at the minimum.
I would have let the van go as soon as it started moving.... it is not worth the hassle.
if you end up in a road rage situation with no where to go to, trapped in a drive through queue for example, you must be prepared for the possibility that there may be a physical fight, some people are crazy... do you want to do that hungry?
Lesson: don't go to McDonald's.
This lessons has served me well...
Sit in a queue of traffic to pay for something barely edible isn't bad enough.
Seems to attract a minority of idiots like this individual. No doubt he chucked all the rubbish out of his window when he finished his meal.
I wouldn't wait. If that was a bus with 15 or so passengers should you wait for it to get ahead?
"I don't wanna hear it .... Oh, you're one of them"
No, Mate, YOU'RE "one of them". Completely disinterested in alternative perspectives to their own.
Personally it's happened to me this only when I saw the vehicle to my left clearly expected to be 1st even though I'd placed my order 1st, I just waved them through and spent 1 extra minute waiting for my food. It saved what just happened there at McD's.. I say right or wrong don't let ego dictate. Look for a solution. Makes your life easier 🤷♂️
A prime example of someone intentionally using their white van as a weapon. They should have been banned too.
Two things from my perspective - 1) The first move (closing the gap) from the van was likely clearing the ordering system for whatever car behind to use, so no problems with him doing that. Obviously, he should have waited for the camera car at that point. But 2) When his wheels start moving the second time @2:02, that is the point I would give the space away. As to continue to close the gap and push forward with the horn, it is just not going to end well. Better to let them get to the window first and sort the order out there (they read the order out before giving it to drivers, right?)
The rule is if you get through the order station first then you are in front, it's irrelevant that the van driver got to the order station first.
The van driver being an arse aside.
That is a diabolical order
A mc plant with a bottle of water and a veggie wrap
Maybe he was enraged by the order?
1:50 van driver should've moved first here, if he was in such a rush.
I would have held back and let the van go first, no matter who finished their order first.. the way that van was positioned tells me he was expecting to follow the van in front.. maybe i'm too cautious but my I don't want a damaged car.!
Fast food is bad for health and wallet.
And brain 😂
@@laceandwhiskyIt appears to be the case.
Yep. Dr Berg on UA-cam did a recent video on fast food. Worth a watch.
There was nothing fast about that food… did you see hownslow everything was moving 😁
I remember someone saying that if you cook at home it will be quicker, taste better and be healthier
@smilerbob They should send both drivers, on a fast food awareness course.😄
They can see your reg on camera. The last three letters are sometimes written on your receipt. It doesn't matter which order you go.
Personally I would have held back. Let the van go first, he is obvioulsy a bit of an angry person, so let him get his food and Id have to wait, probably an extra minute or two. Plus, Im not good at arguements, regardless ofwho is to blame, so easier to avoid it.
You know what they say, "you're not you when you're hungry" 😂
Slightly more seriously, someone has made the comment that if you do so, it can cause confusion at the window, as they base it off who completed their order first, though it's sortable...
If that was my local McDonald's that extra minute would be more like an extra 10 minutes lol
With all this technology, microwaving the burgers, automated drinks dispenser etc some how the local Maccy's has become even slower.
Thing is when you're already totally right, there just isn't any argument to be had :D
@@Nodster: And at least from what I've seen, the drive through is the *quickest* of all the ordering methods... not to mention that my one consistently gets delivery orders wrong, forgetting items, and can't blame it on the couriers, seeing they seal the bags (and somehow, they still haven't found a way to keep the drinks from spilling!) Were it not for the fact they open late, and there are those situations where you need food...
@Bozebo took me a second to work that comment out, thought you were having a pop at me lol. But yes you are totally right. When you argue with someone who believes they are right it's hard to visibly win.
Keep an eye out for those that I call a Starbucks driver, the ones that concentrate on not spilling their drink / foodrather than focussing on driving. They are worse at drive thru places.
I have seen some creeping along at idle revs while in gear but still putting sugar in their coffee, those that will be handing out food while chuntering along at 25mph on a dual carriageway and my personal favourite is those that have fully turned around to put / get something from the back seat while either merging onto the road or approaching you from behind while you are stationary at traffic lights
One of the many reasons I dislike drive thru as it becomes, along with everything else, rush rush rush. If going inside you can take time to sugar the coffee, you can hand out the food while stationary in the car park, you can put things or get things from the back seat before setting off
2:03 When I would have submitted.
But should you always submit to a bully?
@@paddymurphy-oconnor8255 Depends how flush with cash you are and how much spare time you have!
Honestly, it depends what vehicle I’m in and what drive through I’m in. The turning circle of my pickup doesn’t always get around the narrow drive throughs (typically from the number 1 order point) so I take number 2 order point to ensure I don’t have to reverse/3 point turn because as the video shows, drive throughs are very common bumper hugging locations and my pickup has blind spots big enough to hide most standard cars from both mirrors. It’s not worth the risk so I always take the widest bay.
The van took up a "I'm going in front of you" position. At this point, the "don't f*ck with a truck" rule applies. Hang back and don't increase risk.
I think the van driver would have been even more pissed of if McDonalds had given him the plant burger and veggie meal 😂
Happy with the outcome.
There are too many arrogant idiot drivers about. Best to let them go.
Glad this was dealt with, but it begs the question of why people who often do much more dangerous things on the road often get 'no further actioned' by the police, even when there is clear video evidence and identification of the number plate? The guy here is clearly a career bully, albeit one who doesn't feel comfortable without his 'mate' being right in front of him in the queue. Perhaps he thought he might get lost without a guide?? :)
Let's be honest. The biggest tragedy here is the order. A McPlant meal and water. 😅
Don't forget the veggie wrap too!
Medium!
I agree with the little move to say "I'm next", but in order to be defensive, I would have let the van in as soon as it became clear they were not backing down.
It'll cost many thousands to sort out two dented doors, a boot, and a rear bumper though. £200 in compensation won't cover that. The punishment is basically a minor slap on the wrist. Unbelievable. And all over a perceived "queue jump". I dread to think what this maniac does in his normal day to day driving if something like this triggers him.
I'm no lawyer, but he'll probably have to sue him through civil court, or go through small claims court to get that. Since the guy was charged criminally and plead guilty, it should hopefully be a doddle.
I totally agree with your final comment. Ultimately if he gets the wrong order, that would be on him. Have fun with your veggie wrap!
What a plank that van driver is, I've always taken it that if you complete your order first you go first and 99% of drivers understand that, but as they saying goes " There is always one"
Fair play I wouldn't have handled that as calm as the car driver
The worst thing about this is that he ordered a McPlant.
And you're too ? 🤔
Boycott
What's wrong with that?
McDonald's uses an ANPR system so it doesn't matter who finishes the order first, when you get to the payment window and it becomes a single queue everyone is in the correct order.
Not saying it was deserved but viewer has ordered a mcplant and a veggie wrap
How could the cam driver submit? He was already in front of the van before the altercation occurred. Not only that, but as you say, that might mess up the ordering system.
