Train horns: I've got one. It's installed on an '11 Ford F-350. Main reason for them is that drivers around Eastern Tennessee drive like they got their licenses from a cereal box. The policy for them is this: Dangerous cut-off/close-call on the roadways? Train horn. Asleep at the green light/stop sign? Stock horn. If still asleep after the use of the stock horn, train horn. Only vehicle in a tunnel? Train horn. (It sounds beautiful)
Bond i've got 6 8" Sony Xplod P5s in a 3.4 cu ft box with a 6" Precision Port tuned to 32Hz, powered by an LW Audio 1.1600 class D monoblock amp. In my friend's Fabia for now (long story) but all going well my system will be in a car of my own next year and I'm gonna do a full electrical upgrade and sound deadening and hoping for 142dB ;-)
Or some random idiot stops in front of you for no reason. I always fancy the idea of having train horns to the point that make their ears bleed for their own stupidity
1. Get an E46 M3. 2. Try making a P60B40 swap (or something similar). 3. Add straight cut gears. 4. Get ALMS M3 GTR bodykit. 5. Wrap dat bitch MW '05 style. 6.???? 7.Profit. Congrats you got an M3 GTR.
"Rolling coal" must be the stupidest thing on this list. I does literally nothing for the car except dramatically waste fuel (and money) and its real purpose is just to feed the driver's ego.
If anything you would think it would be fucking the engine and exhaust systems up. I don't know fuck all about diesels, but you would think dumping that much fuel through the engine whilst revving it hard couldn't be good for it - on a petrol engine you'd be causing bore wash & thus premature wear, though diesel is a lubricant unlike petrol so maybe not such an issue.
Samuel Smith So, they're paying thousands of dollars on modifying their engines and on fuel... Just to irritate people? Sad. The principle is the same, yes, but wow...
"Rolling Coal" is a product of adding power to our trucks. More power requires more fuel which in turn doesn't burn as efficiently until the turbo fully kicks in. Most people who just want black smoke buy a early Cummins 12 valve. No money needed to make them blow smoke. Only a flathead screwdriver.
My mates got a Golf GTI Edition 30, Stage 2+, fully modded except new Turbo worth £2000 is coming soon. Performance clutch, new exhaust system. Soon enough it'll be Stage 3.. long story short, his neighbours moved away.
And train horns when it's not on the street. I love cars but if my neighbor drove up and down the street rolling coal and honking a train horn, I'd be pretty upset. If he was out there testing his new Super Sequential blow off valve on his car, I'd probably go over and get to know them.
Fletcher some guy with a3 has a fucking loud ass exhaust and the backfire on it is mental (i was able to hear it from my class) people like him piss me off i like car and the idea of having a loud exhaust but driving up and down the same street well above the speed limit is fucking daft
Kasam Yeah, there's definitely a time and place for everything. Just because it's cool doesn't mean you have to romp it everywhere, especially in residential streets. Mountain roads without houses and highways are where to do it at.
If my neighbor did that I'd send him a bill for cleaning all that shit off my house. Fortunately almost all my neighbors are over 70 and middle class, so I think it's fairly unlikely.
My next door neighbour and I hold a special bond, he had a Honda 4 with a 4 into 1 pipe that sounded really sweet. Honda motorcycle, that was, too. I told him one day his bike sounded lovely. He told me my 351 Cleveland sounded lovely. I told him to never move from that house.
MOS6582 we live on a corner and next door to us is ace. The old couple behind us are terrible. They've lived there 10 years and never have spoken to us besides asking to pay for a fence and to tell my wife to move our dog from under her kitchen window. (She was a fucking beautiful dog too, a tricolour beagle, she broke my heart but I digress). Another time I had my V8 running in my back yard to check the radiator. Now get this. She was on the verandah, talking on her phone. I was under the bonnet, of a running V8 and I could hear her conversation with Meryl, about my silly football shorts, and how the noise of my car was driving her nuts. I heard her word for word. But my car was loud. Now, after I was done and I had to race tune it in the driveway in line with her window, and testing my new shiftlight, deciding between 6000, 7000 or 6500, for 20 minutes, maybe that was loud. Fuck them. We don't own a stereo, don't have parties and don't have our kids play near there house. Some people are just assholes
Adam Selene oh shut up. It was in the day, in my yard, and it was legal, the car actually HAD been on the track and complies with emissions and noise regulations, as in, it needs to be scrutineered before I race, and it was legal noise limit. I can tune my car in my yard just as they can play loud music in the day, because it's in the day and who gives a fuck. Next door has loud parties, doesn't bother me, don't care, because they do it 3 times a year for birthdays, not every weekend. We live in a suburb with people on quarter acre blocks. If you live close proximity to people you need to be prepared to accept levels of noise. She also whinged when we had builders put up a fence through the day because the hammers were loud, so should they put a pillow on their hammer, while they work, during times acceptable as per local laws? Or should they ignore her because their paid to do a job and they're not doing anything wrong. Some people are just whingers, with nothing to do in their life than to cause drama for others. Now, mind you, this woman didn't say a damn word when the people on the other side of her had a GIGANTIC house party, with rented PA speakers and fireworks and cars doing burnouts etc into the night, not a single word, but if I check my radiator on my Jaguar with a bloody legal exhaust system, I'm making too much noise. She doesn't complain about her husband with the chainsaw cutting up fire wood either. I'm sure that's much louder and more annoying to her than a jaguar sitting at idle 20 meters away from her. Move to the country if you don't want neighbours or noise.
TheAussieStig30 Ironic a noise-maker tells someone to shut up. If you were checking your radiator for leaks, just idling the motor, and your exhaust noise is at legal levels, it would not be able to be heard within neighboring buildings, as long as the building was at least 50 feet away with doors and windows shut. From what I've read, the noise laws in Australia are more strict then here in the U.S., but it seems worldwide there is no enforcement. But they intentionally do not enforce. Here is why: The trend/intent is to eliminate internal combustion engines, move to electric, eliminate the right to drive, and move to driver-less vehicles. So they allow and encourage gas-powered vehicles and the owners who are inclined to be low-lives to be as obnoxious as possible. This will create a public climate that will welcome elimination of gas (petrol) vehicles. I do not support this, since internal combustion engines can be very quiet and non-obnoxious. It was quieter in the 1970s. The first vehicle muffler was invented 120 years ago (1897), so this is established technology. The noise blight was deliberately caused and has escalated due to the mod fads, lack of enforcement, and an illegal mod shop industry allowed by government. Considering the video you replied to, I don't believe you are really complaining about someone complaining about your actually-quiet vehicle. If this is so, you are really in the wrong place. Also, you say you were revving the engine as high as 7000 RPM for 20 minutes. So you contradict yourself and admit you were creating an illegal noise disturbance. The fact that your neighbor doesn't complain about other disturbances is not an argument, and I doubt you know if she called police or not. Legitimate business or construction noise does not give you the right to also be loud just for fun. Everybody can't afford to move to a quiet location. That gives you no right to be unreasonably loud. Other people doing it does not give you the right. I am pretty certain if someone blasted some loud noises at you, you would eventually break mentally and try to physically attack them. If you had the OEM/stock muffler on your vehicle, I doubt anyone would mind. If you modify the exhaust to make it loud, not only are you a mental case, trying to get noticed, but you are intentionally annoying other people. Some people even sleep in the day (like me - I am in the U.S. and it is 5 AM and I have not gone to sleep yet). Consider that some people your are disturbing are not just into creating drama for fun, but actually have disabilities, PTSD or other mental problems, and the frequent or deliberate violent noises are a serious problem in their lives, preventing them from working or doing much with their lives, and are putting them on the verge of violence against people like you or themselves. I suppose all disabled people should be shipped off to country sanitariums. Can't bear to disrupt your fun noise.
Sad story: My coolant reservoir just cracked and I lost a lot of coolant. It's only leaking when under pressure, so I decided not to continue without help. I waited for the engine to cool down, got some coolant from a friend, then went home. I got there before it reached operating temparture, so I got back without losing coolant. SUCCESS!
0:35-0:48 Not even a minute into the video and we've got a Mk. 4 Supra and an R33 Skyline back to back. Amazing, thank you Car Throttle. That absolutely made my day
With exception to rolling coal and a train horn; I would do all of those mods to an Evo. I just hope nothing goes wrong. ......on second thought; I think I'll ditch the straight cut gears and just opt for a sequential instead.
You realize the smoke doesn't go into the atmosphere. Actually, if memory serves when it comes back down it can actually be fertilizer for plants. Only bad if you inhale it then we have problems. And no everyone got pissy because the DEF systems installed on trucks was unnecessary and because it made trucks less reliable and higher maintenance. It's like having a catalytic converter you have to service every couple of hundred miles and bricks your car if you try removing it. Though I do agree rolling coal just to annoy people is dumb. And the type of people doing are the same types of people with cat-backs on their 5.0 that gas it every chance they get through a neighborhood trying to look cool and be obnoxious.
Over 4 years I had 2 straight piped imprezas with headers, my neighbours actually loved me. They'd wave their arms and sometimes shout out of the window when I came home early in the morning :D
antilag is there to help with turbo lag, one form of it is a 2-step rev limiter, which the driver can set to a perfect RPM for launches, so the car doesn't spin its wheels off the line. what must 2-step systems do is make the ignition fire late so the engine can't build revs, but this means that ignition happens with an open exhaust valve, spitting fuel into the exhaust and igniting it there. this increases the pressure in the exhaust and shoots flames out the back. the increased pressure acts as antilag, because it causes the turbo to spool up at lower revs than it normally would
I do everything I can to make my exhaust louder, my 4.3L bored out '86 vertech straight piped from the headers straight into a magnaflow super 40 series and it sound like a monster truck, neighbours definitely think its cool and my motorcycle I used a stepping stone on the carbon plug to add a little extra airflow which helps out in the bottom and top end from not having too much back pressure with its restrictive oem setup
Helical gears mesh nicely as the point of contact "flows" smoothly from one side to another, while "straight cut" gears do a little "hit" between each tooth that when multiplied by amount of gears and speed results in a whining nosie. But helical gears are angled and introduce side forces that basically want to push them apart to the side - Reducing durability.
Bruh. Quite a lot of petrol heads don't like modifications to cars. Especially to that extent. Like I'm fine with small modifications like tasteful rims, new tires, brakes, slight lowering and maybe a small power upgrade. But I can't stand people adding a stupid amount of power, 'stance' body kits and cars that make your ears bleed.
Then you still have enthusiasts who do car-tuning to see what their engineering-knowledge will lead to. In my town we have a guy called Boba, who started working on engines when he was still a kid. Now he broke the official 1/4-mile record for VW AWD cars in a Volkswagen Golf MK I. Just search on UA-cam for "Boba Motoring".
I'm glad straight cut was one of them.. We run straight gears in the escort, fortunately though, our neighbours are car people also, so they enjoy hearing 1st gear screaming, while coming down the hill to home as much as we do..! Most of the time...
Rowling coal is not just caused by a switch. it can be caused by tuning the motor for more power the result is at lower rpm the combustion is not completed thus making the soot
so thats what that noise is! straight cut gears! i know it from all the racing cars but now i know what its called. i shall now watch more videos to find out what its about! thanks!
You can probably add an engine conversion to a rotary engine. Also installing a spark plug in your tailpipe to ignite the residual gas and shoot flame out the back.
For everybody not sure what a straight cut gear sounds like, its pretty much what reverse gear sounds like in most cars since they are usually straight cut.
The sound of straight cut gears is the sound of mechanical heaven
What a beautiful sentence!

SGM 26 Then everyone in the car community will hate you, much less the neighbors.

Motherbrain Jr me too, but they are very noisy.
Same. That's why I drive everywhere in reverse. It's inconvenient and unsafe for many reasons but it's worth it for the sweet whine.
straight cut gears + turbo whine + blow off valve = my panties wet

antilag is there to help with turbo lag, one form of it is a 2-step rev limiter, which the driver can set to a perfect RPM for launches, so the car doesn't spin its wheels off the line. what must 2-step systems do is make the ignition fire late so the engine can't build revs, but this means that ignition happens with an open exhaust valve, spitting fuel into the exhaust and igniting it there. this increases the pressure in the exhaust and shoots flames out the back. the increased pressure acts as antilag, because it causes the turbo to spool up at lower revs than it normally would
0:37 the guy in the cow costume 😂😂😂
I'm lucky that my nebigours are all gear heads
Same here
Nebigours? I'll give you points for that.
Can I take them away ;-)
Straight-cut gears sound abolutely beautiful
first 500 people will get a ferrari 488 spyder
the 500 people who has a lot of money
then give me one of them
Centrix - Agario Get out
That's not fair! Adam and Eve didn't even have drivers licences!
Centrix - Agario where my ferrari nigga?
I do everything I can to make my exhaust louder, my 4.3L bored out '86 vertech straight piped from the headers straight into a magnaflow super 40 series and it sound like a monster truck, neighbours definitely think its cool and my motorcycle I used a stepping stone on the carbon plug to add a little extra airflow which helps out in the bottom and top end from not having too much back pressure with its restrictive oem setup
Can somebody explain straight cut gears?
Here you go.
www.carthrottle.com/post/the-advantages-and-disadvantages-of-straight-cut-gears/
Hey what is your CT nick. I want to follow you
Do google cost money in your country? lol
Most small car gear boxes whine in reverse due to straight cut gears.
the straight cut gears in the M3 GTR sound amazing coupled with the engine noise
actually not annoy, get the cops called on you and arrested for noise complaints. I did it to my moron neighbor. I felt so good.
j parks so true
Don't forget about open dump downpipes/external wastegates!
wow. on this moment 911 comments
Love your voice. I had a neighbor who owns a Nissan Skyline R33, when he comes by, I have eargasm.
Should have named this 6 mods you need on your car.
W
I love the straight gears gearbox sound.
Bruh. Quite a lot of petrol heads don't like modifications to cars. Especially to that extent. Like I'm fine with small modifications like tasteful rims, new tires, brakes, slight lowering and maybe a small power upgrade. But I can't stand people adding a stupid amount of power, 'stance' body kits and cars that make your ears bleed.
agree! thats the diference between modifying a car for yourself and modifying a car for your ego
Just search on UA-cam for "Boba Motoring".
then VW themselves promptly broke it again with an 800bhp beetle
I absolutely love straight cut gears' sound 😍😍😍
ROLLINTWINTURBO 7.3 Rolling Coal all day
This is more like it Car Throttle, these are the videos that I came for, the only one missing is 2 Guys 1 Car
Wanna know something:
I HATE TOYOTA PRIUS!!!
who doesnt
Me.
I'm glad straight cut was one of them.. We run straight gears in the escort, fortunately though, our neighbours are car people also, so they enjoy hearing 1st gear screaming, while coming down the hill to home as much as we do..! Most of the time...
Who else likes rolling coal?
well Snoop Dogg likes to coal his rolls
Inbreds.
Graemealex Haha I think not
me gusta
its like "give this comment a like if you arent ashamed of your stupidity"
YES!! Pay back for all the hours of Tejano blasting till 4am!!
I'm glad anti lagg systems didn't make the list, I'm sure my neighbours will love it
I love the sound of straight cut gears
annoying people and getting haters with my obsession is a smallish part of why i love cars and modifying them.
2:02 Ok, I admit that adding rolled coal into a hot rod is kinda cool.
Oh man, can't wait for the kayak episode. (Perhaps I' wrongly expecting kayaking to be involved)
THE THUMBNAIL IS SOOO ON POINT
Rowling coal is not just caused by a switch. it can be caused by tuning the motor for more power the result is at lower rpm the combustion is not completed thus making the soot
so thats what that noise is! straight cut gears! i know it from all the racing cars but now i know what its called. i shall now watch more videos to find out what its about! thanks!
ohhh I can't wait to see the next video! I tried clicking on it several times...
I think the whine of straight cut gears is A1 sauce tbh
That straight pipe sound is like candy to my ears
Who the hell sits on their rev limiter at their house and/or drives fast enough for straight cut gears to be annoying in their neighborhood???
You can probably add an engine conversion to a rotary engine.
Also installing a spark plug in your tailpipe to ignite the residual gas and shoot flame out the back.
a gt86 with straight cut gears..... i k ow what im lookingforward too in a few years
Liked before watching because car throttle is life
I just install fart can to my old crappy 1995 civic and now i am the worst neighbour!😂
Im gonna be honest, I love the sound of straight cut gears
I wish I lived in a community with all car guys
straight cut gears are love.
This it's one of my favorite videos but I feel like I've watched it like a hundred thousand times lol
Thanks now I know my next 5 mods (excluding rolling coal)
I didn't know that straight cut gears was a thing and made that sound lol guess u learn something new every day
He sound of straight cut gears in this video sound like those power wheel cars for kids, I remembered mine when I heard the sound.
For everybody not sure what a straight cut gear sounds like, its pretty much what reverse gear sounds like in most cars since they are usually straight cut.
Great video!
thank god all of my close neighbors work on cars themselves, so I'm good with every mod.
