Used to trot the Nidd in yorkshire at Cowthorpe with double maggot or worm on 4lb maximum bs in the late sixties. Had plenty barbel and chub ..not massive but up to 5lb..on Alcocks match aeriel....so nothing new but just as much fun.
Cheers! My regular perch spots are unfortunately not fishable currently but I have some ideas... stay tuned for a perch vid in the next few weeks I hope.
Very enjoyable video, Ewan! Probably the hardest fighting fish in our waterways, certainly on par with the seatrout! The difference in stamina between chub and barbel of similar size is staggering. I must do more of this next summer! Goddam work!
Could you maybe do a video on fishing with the centre pin reel, explaining how to use it . I heard you say about the clicker?. It looks a very simple way to fish which I’m all for. Thanks
I am no expert but as you say there is not too much to them. Most importantly it is brilliant fun using centrepin reels, not being able to rely on any gears to give drag as in fixed spools and having to use your hand to do that job!
Not this time, the Foss is not looking to great right now. It is rumoured there are barbel in the Foss but it seems it is likely they are just rumours. I have to go to other rivers for barbel....
Love your enthusiasm Ewan.
Keep the videos coming 👍🏻
Thanks so much, hopefully lots more to come!
Oh, nice nature!

ENTHUSIASM, great vid mate, love centre pin fishing, keep them coming, all the best David.
Thanks a lot. Hopefully more pin vids to come in autumn.
As usual very nice video, and lovely barbels ...👌 Well done Ewan! 🎣👍🍻
Thanks 👍
super video well done , on the pin as well , i use a pin myself for sea fishing for guilt head bream love the challenge, all the best
I always wondered about a pin at sea, I would be too worried about salt water damage!
Classic centrepin fishing lovely barbel mate.
Thanks a lot!
Just subscribed great vids keep the centre pin vids coming please 🙏
Thanks for the sub! Hope to get out with the 'pin soon...
Lovely job on the videography. RAIN is so badly needed, I fish the rivers down your way and they're in desperate need of a flush through ! ❤
Yes, although all the rain we just had doesn't seem to have topped up the river that much....
Nice video, very enjoyable
Really glad you enjoyed!
Great!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great content buddy. Keep it up. Did love the perch video though

I was on that stretch yesterday, got my first Barbel from there and lost a bigger one at the net 🎣.
Great stuff! We are all chasing that big one....
Nicely filmed (videoed?). As you say, some nice fun size ones to start the experience.
I am quite grateful for a few smaller ones to start, a 10lber would have burnt my thumb trying to slow it down!

Glad you enjoyed it! It was really difficult to tell the size of fish too, using a centrepin. They all pulled so hard!

Enjoyed immensely, not the Foss?

Pepperami is good for barbs!
Unfortunately for the barbel so do I! I have used it before but ended up eating most of it....
Where did you get your reel and rod from
Which centre pin do you use
This one is an advanta, nothing expensive.
