What a thorough explanation! I just got a tattoo and this is what the artist used. It’s so much better than washing 3x’s daily and applying Aquaphor.

I've had a pretty annoying experience with Saniderm...I think the products are roughly the same, under different brands. I tried hard to take it off, using warm water and anti-bacterial soap. It barely went off and left a ton of glue residue on my skin and tattoo. I have taken it down on day 2 and had to wait it out with it all sticky until I was able to rub the glue off properly.
I usually heal a tattoo in the old school fashion. Wash it 3 times per day, let it dry, apply some A&D ointmemt, repeat for the first week. I probably just had some bad luck with this kind of product, but since 2011 the old school way of after care worked flawlessly for me.
I have an arm sleeve, both of my legs are covered, half of my back and one on my lower abdominal region

There a world of difference between the quality of the original vs the clone (3M Tegaderm is the original, Saniderm is a knockoff). Saniderm doesnt mould to the skin as nicely, has a tendency to leave the adhesive stuck to the skin, and has a significantly higher rate of skin irritation than Tegaderm. Accept no substitutes and I wish I was a paid shill for them dammit. :)

Results will always vary, and you might be old-school loyal enough that Tegaderm still won't hit the sweet spot. That's why I made the aftercare 2 vid, haha (either way tho, you should see a remarkable difference in quality between Saniderm and Tegaderm. All other second skins I've used have paled compared to the original.)

So dont you put Tegaderm on straight the way after your tattoo has finished? I have used Tatu-Derm and YaYo skin guard so far and had 4 bad reactions from both Derms 2 of them leaving me in hospital the other 2 times I had to go see my doctor and every time I was put on 8 antibiotics a day as both Derms gave me cellulitis so the Dermatologist thinks, but I need my sleeves finishing off but am scared to use a skin derm in case it happens again, the easier option is to let it heal the normal traditional way but I can't because my job is so so dirty I am literally covered in black sand and dust all day, so thought use a so called second skin (not the brand) but every derm is a second skin right, but each time ive used it ive been so ill, what happens is my tattooist will finish a 3-6 hour session then wipe it down and put a derm on that I bought myself as its still new in the UK a lot of tattooist have never heard of a derm, then I will go home and eventually go bed wake up in the morning and I will have a huge air pocket full of fluid, ink, blood, plasma, and then it either bursts or it will leak, so will take it off as I'm in agony feels like its on fire and wash it and its red raw, now I switched derms as I thought I might be allergic to the adhesive on the Tatu-derm after using it twice but the same thing happened with the YaYo brand I thought I would be OK with that 1 as its all vegan so after 2 goes with that I''m like shit what do I do so bought Tegaderm but now wondering if all the derms have the same adhesive that is causing this, but maybe not? I know I must have sensitive skin but im so scared to use a 3rd brand Tegaderm in case I end up with cellulitis again, but maybe the adhesive is different? or the tattooist is putting it on wrong or too soon or what my head is a mess cuz I cant figure out what to do, the doctors told me its probably the adhesive that is causing it as its against my open wound, but now after reading and watching I'm thinking my tattooist is putting it on to early as a lot of people have said dont put it on for at least the first 24 hours, but she puts her derm on straight the way when she has a new tattoo, now im confused and im just wasting my money as the tattooist keeps going over the same tattoo as obviously the ink either fell out or is patchy and im not getting anywhere soon, and im embarrassed about my arms as my tattooist is covering up old shitty sleeves and the summer is just about here and I dont want to have to wear long sleeve tops all the time in the summer cuz I will just roast up, any thoughts and suggestions you beautiful people, sorry for the long ass message..

Yes, you absolutely must put the Tegaderm on immediately after the tattoo is completed. If there's a delay, you lose all the benefits of the tegaderm-- your tattoo begins to dry out (which means it starts to scab), and you have the potential for microbial life to get into the open wound. That's bad. So yes, tegaderm immediately after, or use "old school" methodology, you don't wait any length of time and then put on your *derm (tegaterm, tatuderm, saniderm, etc).
As for your cellulitis, thats the most extreme reaction I've ever heard of. You have my sympathies. For the most part, each brand will have a similar adhesive, so I can't guarantee that Tegaderm (which is the original, by the way-- all other products similar are after-market, 3M TegaDerm is the original product) won't give you the same reaction. There are ways to test though-- for example, you could just cut a small one-inch strip and put it on any spot you'd like. If the adhesive reaction is going to occur, it will occur-- open wound or not. If you're truly concerned about the open skin being the main determining factor, go get a scratch test with either your artist or your dermatologist. It's functionally the same way they test for latex or nitrile allergies. Simply put, they will scratch you with a needle, then put a small amount of tegaderm on that. It's a controlled method of sorting out if you'll have problems. Judging from your description, your reaction should be -very- fast, so it should be simple enough to monitor and remove before you're hospitalized.
Now, for your sleeves-- IF there's absolutely no hope for a tegaderm second skin for you, it's not the end of the road for you... I'm surprised your artist hasn't come up with a list of options for you. From small, controlled sessions that let you properly seal up using old-school methods, to using excessive amounts of dry-loc and sensi-wrap, through to just teaching you correct wrap/re-wrap techniques so you can continuously keep your tattoo covered and clean. You don't have to do your entire arm or arms in a single session, so it shouldn't be THAT hard to heal section-by-section.
The long and short of it is, have hope! You do have options. It might be a bit more of a struggle for you, but getting your sleeves done won't be impossible.

@@PennyBlackTattoo I cant do the re-wrap cuz I only get two 10 mins break a day, so my arms will be soaking by the end of the day and my hands are black with dirt, my artist is new but is very good but she has only mentioned the re-wrap version, or the traditional way which both are not suitable for my job, I've never heard of dry-loc and sensi-wrap how does that work for tattoos and won't it stick to the scabs? I really don't know tried googling it but I can't find that much about it only the dry-loc just to go home in after your session, if you could give me some more advice about them both and how you would use them then great much appreciated, so I wonder why people are saying use Tegaderm 24 hours after your tatt they say its because right after the session you produce too much plasma etc so leaving it 24 hours then washing it the next day and applying it wont cause as much build up of fluid or something like that, I guess changing it after 24 hours is just as bad for you because of touching it and disturbing it in fact i changed both tatu-derm and YaYo once they filled up and they just filled up again like half tennis ball size, any more help bud I will appreciate it so much as I'm so embarrassed about my arms as they are scared up but the artist has cleverly designed the tatt so you cant see the scars, guess I'm desperate, well I'm very desperate this problem is on my head 24 hours a day every minute of the day I can't take much more, thanks again for helping me..

Well, unfortunately we haven't gotten to making cliff-notes versions of the vids yet... but you have 4 days at least after the tegaderm has been put on, should be easy enough to take in the full length of the clip in 4 days. :)
Seriously though, I do hope it helped-- even if I do tend to go on and on. :)
