    Easy to recognize French and Euro impressionism sketch style at first. Lose lines like Mucha, Degas, Renoir, Klimt and so on. Combined with fat and bold brush of Russian magic, Nikolai link two world together perfectly. Wonderful demo...Спасибо Мастер!

    Every figurative painter ought to make a pilgrimage to St Petersburg Russia to visit the Russian Museum. Most of Repin's oeuvre is there, but equally wonderful is the huge volume of work by Russian Academy trained artists from the 19th and 20th centuries, most of whom you've probably never heard of, whose skill at marrying surface texture to volumetric form (even in charcoal alone) will blow your mind. In person, the work is much more impressive. St Petersburg is a gorgeous city, super friendly locals, and of course there is the Hermitage. Well-paired with a visit to Helsinki and Tallinn.

    Makes me wish I could visit an exposition. I love his art so much, even did a replica (to my best capacity).
    Would gladly buy lessons from him but the price right now is a bit step for me, but I'm planning on doing it.

    What I find interesting is how different painters prefer specific brushes. For example, Nikolai is working initially, with a fan brush!

    I would love to buy the digital download, but USD$200 is way more than I can justify on a 5 hour tutorial video. (For comparison, Andrew Tischler sells a 7.5 hour landscape painting lesson for $60/$75 download/DVD)
    Fair enough if it were a one-on-one, in-person lesson or lecture, but come on!
    In the age of the internet and video-on-demand, you could make an absolute killing if you were to release on gumroad for a much more reasonable fee ($15-45).
    Just not sure why anyone would prefer to sell something with an essentially unlimited supply at $200 to 1000 potential customers rather than $30 to 20,000+. (likely even higher, if you can license it in developing countries where the disposable income is lower but the population can be massive..)

    Thank you so much for this! ❤ Did he use solvent and oil together?

    • @fabiomgm1293
      @fabiomgm1293 Рік тому +1

      There's a lot of solvent in that canvas, you can see it dripping down the painting, but he also uses oil without none of it and thats where you see those thick textures. Usually you go from the order thin to thick gradually but he goes from super thin to extremelly thick very fast. I've grew to love this style and have been using it in my paintings too.
