I’ve heard multiple fans say they don’t really like Down to the Well, but I think that one rocks, too. Is She Weird. Break My Body. River Euphrates. Hell, even some of their 21st century songs are my favorite. Oona, Jaime Bravo. Great band. Shit, Frank Black and the Breeders got some awesome stuff, too.
To all of is who fell in love with this band, this record, this song, and this part of the song in particular, thank you. Iv always been a massive fan of that ending and never wanted it to end. So hypnotic. Joey Santiago, my guitar god.
The thing I love about Joey is his humility. He never tries to run out in front and take over the spotlight that I have ever seen. He never tries to take over the band, he just is like, "dude, let me play, and leave me the hell alone." He brought such a different sound to the guitar. The Pixies could play rhythm so well together. That bass just sounds so good. I don't know why so few bands showcased the bass, but it seems like the ones that did were pariahs and not front runners, for example Primus.

Would play it over and over just to hear the outro. Thanks for doing this, it's what the track always needed. I could listen to this all day long. I mean allll day long.
How hasn’t this outro been used in the ending of a film yet? Can totally hear it being the soundtrack to a scene where everything just falls into place and concludes the film perfectly P.S. yes this is the greatest outro of all time

Greatest outro of all time, as others have said. One of my favorite songs off one of my favorite albums of all time, and certainly the best Pixies album. As great as Surfer Rosa was, Doolittle was their most seminal effort, a culmination of everything that made the Pixies one of the most influential bands of all time.
This song gives me chills. Right now in this moment all is perfect in the world. Doolittle is 30 (30!) years old today. And I've just discovered my favourite Pixies has been improved in the only way a Pixies song could ever be improved, by adding more of it... And now it's finished so I need to hit replay again... Scuse me while I spend the rest of the day in a Pixies induced trance of music and weird memories.

From the 2 minute mark until the end of the song: I think this is some of the greatest jamming around. Something about it completely elevates the spirit, and by the 4 minute mark, transcends. It really is my favorite part of the song, the last bit. Amazing work here.
OMG this is truly amazing - we all wanted this. How does that first part become that second part????? This is truly the magic of Pixies. I cant say this is my favorite track cos thats like picking your favorite child ( if your a parent) soooooo many great songs. Back in 91 I got the chance to see them in The Duchess of York in Leeds and I passed. Then they split. Finally saw them in 2005 in Manchester with my 1st two lads ( aged 12 and 9 at the time) seen them many times since and with my daughter in Plymouth before Covid and in Castlefield bowl in2022. The fact their songs still inspire kids to pick up instruments, play music or just look more left field than whats on the radio is amazing. The songs are timeless, the music so amazing and their presence on the live circuit brilliant. Never thought I would hear Brick is red live. Thought Toe in the Ocean was OK - then I saw them play it live in the Hammesmith Apollo now its a favourite. As an aside we were on the upper balcony and people asked us to sit down!!!!! I replied are you for real this is Pixies lol then this guy asked if he could stand / dance with us as he was on his own and he'd traveled from Spain just to see them - how could we refuse :)
OMG, thank you! I have been obsessed with the outro for decades. My favorite song by Pixies. I would drive from California to Oregon blasting this song over and over (not easy on a cassette). Great job!
TY for this, the utterly exquisite outro of this always left me gasping for more and it's easily one of my all time favourite musical moments ever not just of the glorious Pixies.
It's so brilliant how they're capable of totally changing the context of a song and turn it into a dreamy, beautiful, touching and nostalgic song, where they just let the magic flow with that final guitar line... It kinda reminds me of Creedence's Ramble Tamble.
I'm not alone! Thank you! I have always LOVED this outro; my favourite Pixies moment - unusual for their stuff. I like the silvery guitars at the end of Sad Punk too.

Nice
And that's why you have to take drugs to create good work.
When I listen to the dreamy end of Desire Lines by Deerhunter, I wonder if Bradford was inspired in any way by No 13 Baby.
definitely a purposeful reference..
Thought the exact same thing
Well, that one was composed by Lockett Pundt (a.k.a. Lotus Plaza), not Bradford Cox.
First time I heard Desire Lines, I fell in love bc it reminded so much of this (subliminally). But it actually isn’t composed by Bradford, but by Lockett (who sings the lead vocals on it as well).
Agreed that both outro are pure gems
You're a genius for putting this together. My only complaint about the Pixies was this ending was too short. Well done
Best outro ever finally extended
I could listen to this for hours
I've been waiting for this for about 30 years!!! Thank you!
I've always thought this was the best outdo I've heard. I'm glad I wasn't the only one! Thx for posting this.
This song is in the soundtrack of my life and you made it better. Cheers. This is how they should do it live but twice as long.
Brilliant Song, brilliant extended version the bass guitar & other lead guitars rock this song into orbit for me. Thanks for the extended version, these are getting harder & harder to find. Rock On.
The extended version we all needed
A musical gem! Tripping on it, naturally
Simply eargasmic!!
"... but the outro lasted far too short, as far as I am concerned..." You're so right! Tnx ;-)
The outro is otherworldly
You caught me playing it over and over. Wow 😅
good to know i'm not the only one repeating songs, like seriously, a lot...OH say anything has alot of songs like this.. like start out really intense than have an amazing melody at the end
brilliant why did no one think of this before?
