Brief review of 4/12/22 BJM show on East Colfax in Denver... with weeks to recuperate it was a blast. Dude next to me was into Joel, big time and I got his lady to yell. "Fingertips," between songs. That didn't happen, but my ride was blown away and we ended up at a gay bar called "The Tight End," where we met 2 show refugees for laughs and concurrence over BJM's enduring coolness/humility. We're all into psychedelic guitar music, which, thesedays, is like folk music. Cheers!
It's nice to be able to hear a clearer production of this song. This is the track that started my lifelong jones for BJM. POL POTS ... is prolly the best demo to be released.
My favorite BJM song since I first heard it. Might of been the first one I heard too but dont remember. Reminded me of "I wanna be adored" at first but now just sounds like itself to me.
just found this band and have been listening to even song in a row, then I came to this which is has such an amazing, nostalgic sound. It kind of captures the sound of youth and freedom. Every song seems to get better!
This is great as it is I think Anton. The super cool thing about your work for me is that I only discovered it last year and I'm still finding tracks I've never heard which resonate with me and I just 'get'. Got a bit freaky on 3 lsd tabs a few years ago which altered my perception. Of any new bands I discover or get recommended, BJM stands out with tracks like this. I have the same satisfaction also from bowie tracks I've never heard such as "slip away" from "Heathern". BJM is an inspiration. Thanks.
In spite of all the hullabaloo about Anton, this guy and his band of merry men and women are one of the greatest, most original, & highly creative musicians in American history !
Its a solid tune like most are, but i don't hear anything original. This one is a mix of Mazzy Star on Vocals. The Cure circa (1990-1991) upfront and The Edge ( 1982-1983) whaling in the background and a pretty basic bass riff ..The first couple times i heard it it was pretty simple to figure where they got the influences for on this track..still rocks though.
@@bobp363 the influences are more Lush, My Bloody Valentine or The Telescopes for voice and melody and The Stone Roses/The Charlatans/Madchester baggy bands for the rhythm. Doesn't sound anything like The Cure or that guy from U2...

Looking through the looking glass 🔎 pure class
Reminds me of the Chuska mountains. Of moonlit nights there and long drives into Colorado.
This always was one of my favourite BJM songs. To do this again with Tess Parks is beyond inspired.
Thank you.
I love how on edge it is of several feelings (to me at least) : melancholic, dark, happy.. it's perfect :)
This is a really cool and faithfully contemporary take on the original from the demo cassette! I am really feeling Tess' vocals on this, and the lesser emphasis on the shoegaze element, and more so towards the psych direction instead.
Nice one Anton! Can't wait to hear the final product if and when it does drop! :)
I had missed the fact that this was a new recording until I saw your comment. Going back and finding the shoegazier original was a treat, I dig both
Just booked my ticket for Newcastle gig 2023! Can't fucking wait!
Thank you for playing this for your fans in Portland Oregon!
Never forget where I first heard this song introducing me to the Brian Jonestown Massacre and Tess Parks, Hole in the Wall Bar & Cafe Silema, Malta. I haven't been the same since.
This song makes my heart race. I can't stop listening to it. I preordered the record and digital off of ITunes, have to wait unit June to hear it my car. Buy some great music today!
I swear to God there are times you hear a band for the very and they blow your mind. The Brian Jonestown Massacre are one of those wtf moments as a teenager got me hooked on this legendary cult band who deserved to be up there with thee greatest rock n roll bands ever. So many unbelievable songs including this
@antonmewcombe sir, this is transcendent. You are on my bucket list of concerts I must attend before I die.
tess parks is not only gorgeous & wow, what a voice! oh, to have it all...
One of those songs that you wish would never end. Interesting enough it often runs through my head on loops in my dreams, and when I awake from sleep. Always blissful.
one of my favourite songs ever, summery, blissful, antidepressive
Oh, man! That original demo has always been one of my favorites of your songs. This is fantastic. Thank you once again!
BJM songs always seem to have a hopefulness underlying the blissful melodies.
Just been reminded why I love this band so much. X
pretty stoked that "The Chats " are up next !
i wasnt that lucky!
I have stumbled once on this song a forever ago tripping on 3 tabs one night, and this song took me to the WORLDS! And every time i having my "adventures" i am starting with this song. Anton you are my god.
Just never can get enough of this band! Melt into obilvion... So love them!
Reminds me of my last Seattle visit.
Winter almost here. But still can see the autumn leafs spread in the streets.
Snowy mountains in the background.
Beautiful lighthouse hidden in discovery park.
Seagulls flying all over in the pier.
Cold, but not freezing.
Cool music played in downtown.
Christmas about to start.
One word: MASTERPIECE !!
I had discovered this song thanks to the Pol Pot's demos and I was just amazed by how good it was.
So glad to see this song now recorded with Tess haunting vocals. Thank you Anton, you never disappoint. :)
Next time you come to Paris, I won't miss you!
Okay, the 27th of June at the Trianon, can't wait!
Can't write a better psych pop tune than this. Blows me away...
Ah, the things that have taken place in our lives , in the past, the regrets, the joys, this song helps me bring them back into play.
another incredible song from Anton. I am simply floored by how much quality music is put out by this man.
My favorite song of all the times !
just found this band and have been listening to even song in a row, then I came to this which is has such an amazing, nostalgic sound.
Thanks.
"The band you love to hate, the band you hate to love". ❤
I never get tired of listening to this song. And I love this newer version too.
the output from this guy. first song to the latest. always awesome. its fkn uncanny
In spite of all the hullabaloo about Anton, this guy and his band of merry men and women are one of the greatest, most original, & highly creative musicians in American history !
He is the band.
i totally agree...
Literally says 'tess parks' as the vocals on the description. If you're gonna give your opinion, at least give your informed opinion.
@@bobp363 the influences are more Lush, My Bloody Valentine or The Telescopes for voice and melody and The Stone Roses/The Charlatans/Madchester baggy bands for the rhythm. Doesn't sound anything like The Cure or that guy from U2...
Simply euphoric, each and every time! Genuinely can’t imagine a piece of music making me feel more alive than this, ever! Masterpiece! ❤
If Boards of Canada made a rock song it would be this right here. Following BJM since 13 and they always have something new to say
I’m a commenting addict. I live for commenting, it’s what gets me up in the morning. It’s the first thing I do when I regain sensation within my thumbs and it’s the last thing I do before I drift into median nerve compression every night. A very good friend introduced me to UA-cam and I have never been able to get enough since. Passion.
This is what running through the mountains on acid feels like
Mike Landis Confirmed.
Mike Landis how would you know? I can’t speak for the running through the mountains bit because what does that have to do with anything? As for being on acid. No this song is not like being on acid. If it is. It’s a weak trip. May I suggest something off Methodrone
@@jonathanpidock5599 the first time I heard this song I was camping in the mountains, balls deep in one of the best trips of my life. I was running to this song in a loop through the woods around my campsite and thinking this is the most free I'll ever be
this ones a keeper.
This is absolutely incredible, even by BJM usual standards. My word I can't get enough of it.
i can't handle how good this is at all oh my god
oh man! the original is one of my favourite bjm songs
So very glad 'Fingertips' survived. The first BJM song I remember ever hearing, from a cassette tape sent to Bomp Records' Greg Shaw in '91. It took a year to actually Find Anton Newcombe, but it was worth the wait! I do love this track. Is that Eufloria on vox?
I feel butlerflies in my stomach. The psychedelic sound of San Francisco
When I listen to this song I feel like I'm blasting off into something I can't describe. 10 years ago I would listen to this song ritualistically, every morning on my drive to the apiary I worked at. I'd hear the song and imagine pushing the pedal to the metal until I broke spacetime. Here now, I listen to the song and the same feeling arises. There is a mysterious, almost mystical quality to this sound that I love. Especially the original, even though I love this version almost as much.
Here's another then.

Midway Inn I dig The Dandelions . Doffferent vice though. More 60s psych and less blast off vibes . Super good though !
Midway Inn also dig. But more of a derivative.
Vibe*
So me and my boyfriend both took three hits of voidrealm cid...fucked for hours and listened to nothing but BJM records. Not a fucking song was skipped. It was beautiful and magic. I painted naked and sweaty after and prayed to god in thanks that life can be so sweet.
We will be at Bilbao´s Antzokia on next friday just for this song, please do not disappoint us Anton, we love u !
Perfect, just perfect.
Great vibe and build up, then trippy vocals. Very nice indeed.
