That was so much fun. Thanks Matt! Liked + subbed! 🤘🤘 I got into them in a similar way. After listening to the great four metal bands I got into Arch and it seemed to just fit. I liked how the melodies were thoughtful, there was a good balance between instruments and silence. No filler, no wasted room. The rhythms always hit hard. And I love how the vocals were like primal and passionate while the melody came from the guitars. This is very unique. Usually death metal guitars are very evil sounding, not Arch. In bands where guitars sound like Archs' the vocals aren't heavy at all. So it's a unique blend. It kind of puts off two kinds of fans (nasty death metal ones, and heavy metal fans), but heavily attracts the kind that likes melodic guitars and heavy vocals.

People don't like change, even in their music, which is kind of ridiculous. Everyone evolves, even bands. You can allow yourself to be open to the new or sit bitter and alone in the past. I like both Angela and Alissa, neither is better, they each have different skill sets and i appreciate what both can contribute. Angela chose to leave, she also chose Alissa as her successor, if that's not good enough for some people, well, i hope they enjoy their bitterness. The rest of us are going to enjoy some great music.
Angela Gossow got me into harsh vocals back in the day (think Doomsday Machine album), I will never not love her. But I like Alissa's style so very much, she's very versatile, is anyone else hearing the clean vocals layered underneath the screams in the chorus? So haunting! Also, a word about Michael's new guitar. The headstock combined with the lighting confused me there for a second and I thought he's now playing an Aristides 😂 shoutout to Ola Englund for clearing that up!
I like how Angela picked Alissa to replace her. It would be amazing to hear them both on the same track or even do a show together. I love Ola! I saw that as well. You know I love Solars 🤘
@@MattsMoshPit1 Angela and Alissa performed together with Doro Pesch last year (also with Jennifer Haben and Tarja Turunen). I have only seen super bad quality footage of it though, couldn't hear anything but the drums.
love that band, saw them live in small town Sweden last year, damn that gig must had the hole town awake that evening :D i agree with most what you say here... great reaction, possitive thats nice to many that cryes over eberything thats not stuck were it was, so to say... cred to you man //Sweden
I was expecting this to be more melodic, but it's still good. Never was a fan of harsh vocals until the world shut down and I started listening to bands like EPICA, Jinjer, Nemophila, and Spiritbox. Didn't get into AE at all until "Handshake With Hell" came out. The all harsh is growing on me, but I still prefer clean and harsh mixed. Yep, first release with Joey Conception on guitar. Yeah, Michael wrote the lyrics, and co-wrote the music with Daniel Erlandssen. Going to London for an AE concert? Nice! Have a great time. So, how long are you going to be listening to this song?? 🤣
AE has definitely been my gateway into more extreme metal. Yes, I am flying to London to see Arch Enemy, In Flames and Soilwork. I also plan on going to the Cart and Horses Pub to pay homage to Iron Maiden. I will still be listening to Dream Stealer in London and a loooooooooong time after 😉
Alissa version of AE all the way! I'm that "new" fan. But hey, still hoping they would do an album similar to War Eternal so I could say: wow, I love this!
I prefer older Arch Enemy but it’s not about the vocalist, I think the music have charged in a direction that I don’t like as much. What do you think about Soilwork?
I completely understand. I think that’s why they were a good gateway into heavier music for me. I can’t say that if my first exposure to them was the early stuff, I would have had the same outcome. Don’t get me wrong, I love the old stuff as well, but I prefer the newer stuff. I am almost the same way with In Flames. People want to hate on the later albums. I enjoy them just as much as the early stuff. I am fine with the evolution. As far as Soilwork goes, when I got the tix for the London show I went down a Soilwork rabbit hole. I will say that I don’t go back to them as much as AE and In Flames, but I did enjoy everything I heard from them.
