Ive heard this before but never seen a source. Could you share any more info you have? iM currently doing my house and unsure whether to re-add bracing
Now they have glass backed gypsum boards at Menards that’s cheap! I’ll use this and rockwool even though it’s much more expensive! Fire resistant, sound proof, breathable for old houses, won’t get in the air when installing! But… I think this job deserves a near 10/10! I would’ve braced and supported that ceiling but you’re brave! Many many many plaster ceilings have old vermiculite with asbestos dust lurking on the other side waiting to coat you and your lungs like baby powder! This is another reason why people just add drywall to the ceiling! The 2x4 rafters can hold a 250lb man that wears a size 8 shoe! The dispersed drywall over4’x 8’ is nothing!
Awesome video! In an old house that’s designed to breathe, I would’ve put in unfaced insulation or rockwool! I’m not a pro but I noticed how there was absolutely no mold! I’d also use a drywall without paper backing!
You should add bracing when removing lathe. I looked it up for myself, and my project.👍

@@jacobmann8413 only for interior walls. Walls to outside are braced by wood siding

How does this help moisture ? What if the moisture forms and rots the wood?
maybe he redid the outside of his house? wrapped it, new siding? If not, it will rot.
What did you do for outlets when installing the insulation?
I cutout the shape of the outlet about 2 inches deep. Then I could stuff the insulation behind it.
Without compressing it.
Which state r u location, I like ur work

Did you use a vapor barrier?
