Great video! This is good to know, because some clients want more or less control of their audio depending on budget.

Just what I've been looking for. It's a pity it doesn't have controls on the front for individual volume control, I'm guessing you have to do everything through the app. Great for my holiday rental home but guests will have to get the app if they want to control the zones.

Hi there, thank you so much for the review. I'm just concerned about how it will handle all four pairs of speakers simultaneously. It's obviously just a switch and not a power amp. And it will be running an extra three pairs of speakers on the same amp which otherwise one would use to run just one.

Hey man, good question and it doesn't look like you're going to get an answer so I'll give it a go. You're right, this is just a switch and not an amp, he doesn't say how many watts it can handle, I'm guessing probably 150 - 200 as it looks pretty sturdy. He also doesn't mention whether it has overflow protection either but I'm guessing it probably does.
Anyway, switch aside, if you want to run multiple speakers from one amp what you have to look for is the Ohms. Basically it halves the Ohms every time you add a pair of speakers which requires more power from the amp. If you have 2 x 8 Ohm speakers the power drain will be 4 Ohms from the amp which is still acceptable for most amps. If you have 2 x 4 Ohm speakers the power drain will be 2 Ohms which will be too much for most amps and obviously no be ideal. This switch unit may have protection for that, I don't know. Hope that helps mate

I'm quite interested in this switch. Im now using a vintage receiver or preamp (sansui 8080 or accuphase e202) to switch between rooms. A,B,C selector on the amp. With this switch i might be able to replace the amp. But what i dont understand. For instance the vintage amp only allows you to do seperate a b or c or a combi of two. Not a combi of three. Wouldnt you be asking to much from the amp if you select for instance 4 speakersets at once? Like 8 speakers 100w @ 8ohms. Or different sets of speakers with different impedances? I know with the vintage amp it says that i can only connect 8ohm speakers to do the multiroom set up.

Would this work on different types of speakers setup together, i.e pair of 4, 8 and/or 16ohm? Also can it handle all speakers turned ON at the same time or its just a switch that selects which zone to use while the rest are turned OFF? Thank you

Please can you advise or point me to content with an affordable solution to control volume of different zones, and potentially different music in different zones too would be a bonus. Thanks

Is it possible to have 2 of these in one house on the same WiFi connection?
I have more than 4 zones.
I was going to hook up 2 of these to my receiver that already has 2 zones (A and B)

WARNING ! Be Careful, as with a lot of these speakers switch boxes the connections to either input and output terminals are very close, try not to have bare wires showing as 4:13 speakers ZONE C for instance, bare wires very very close and an easy way to short out positive and negative wires causing amp to blow fuse on outputs or even frying the output transistors. why dont they make the unit a little bigger with more of a gap between connections

Hi - Can you control the volume for each zone separately? I Really need this feature and cant find any where

    • @smarthomesounds
      @smarthomesounds  2 роки тому

Unfortunately, the switch will only turn on/off zones. The difficulty with speaker cable is that current can only be passed through or blocked. It would only be through the smart amplifier that you can adjust volume control, therefore you would need a separate Amp for each zone you want independent volume control. I hope that helps!

What amplifier is needed for 6 ceiling speaker for this audioflow

  • @qdtop

I have four ceiling speakers and two outdoor speakers, and I'm searching for an amplifier or receiver that can efficiently power them all. I need it to have a 2 zone feature so that I can play the indoor and outdoor speakers separately or together. Please suggest some suitable options for listening to music only, not for home theater use?. Thank you

  • @ericpeterson2282

Is there a product similar to this that would allow me to use 1 amplifier, that could have 2 inputs from separate av receivers? The outputs would be for a living room TV, with surround sound, and the other would be a home theatre setup. Both would have a receivers. The 2 would never be playing at the same time, but I'm trying to find a way too use one 3000 dollar applifiier for both sets of speakers, which would save me from buying 2 amplifiers.
    Thanks

YOU do know the middle section can only be seen 1/4 screen...; Ohms issue was not addressed, so 3 set of speakers at the same time, all are 8 ohms, will the switch keep the 8 ohms to each speaker ? (amp is 8 ohms). I am assuming the obvious, but had to ask.

This is an awesome solution exactly what I was looking for. Question I do have is that Sonos recommends not using more than 4 8 ohm
speakers per amp. The question is would we still need to wire those speakers parallel or can they come straight into the switch and the switch does that work for you thanks

I was looking for that same info. I was always under the impression, the switch does the work for you. that is the purpose of the switch box. I also have to make sure.

Well unless you have a vintage quad system like I do. I can play 8 speakers on it 4 in 1 room for in another room. And if I put it in quad mode I can have the TV playing in the living room and go out into my garage and have 4 speakers playing ACD or whatever else. That's just on the receiver itself that don't include any future boxes I may have hooked up to it. I have 2 other switch boxes that will play ABC and D but it will only play AB &c at the same time if I put D on it kicks one channel off. So I couldn't theory have 3 sets on a put another switch on Box on there 3 sets on B and then in the quad section do it again

It's a pity you have not designed it with 2 inputs in mind. I want to manage 4 sets of speakers with 2 different amps, one receiver for home music and one amplifier for hifi, but I don't want to double the number of speakers on the living room, so I would like the set of hifi speakers to receive music from 2 sources.
