I have a bamboo story. There was a perimeter built by the king to protect the temple. It was so thick that no one could penetrate. One day, the neighbor decided to throw coin money all over the baboo farm. The people started cutting bamboo to pick those coins. It was getting thinner and thinner after a while. The neighbor then was able to invade the temple and made it their own.
Palms are looking fab 👌🇹🇭🙏
Very happy with them. All fertilized now. Today I started on the bamboo....it may take a while!!!
Yayyy awsome. Thanks for showing this. Like you said, bamboo is infectious. So pretty. 🙏😁👍
Started fertilizing it today with the goats black jellybeans. It may take a while 🤔
It´s all good wich is good to see , thanks Toon & Leigh and thumbs up as always friends :).
Cheers John. Always a pleasure never a chore 😉
Termites and Bamboo existing in a state of natural harmony *thumbs up*
Gotta love those termite mud mushrooms. Only bummer is having to collect them in the wee small hours.
Thanks for the video Leigh.. bless you
Chop and drop the weeds to cover the soil. It keep the soil moist.
Place looks a lot different than it did when you put in the bamboo! Always enjoy your videos. I'm waiting to see an update on Toon's gar fish 🙂
Bloody hell sounds like a lot of work coming up !! No stopping you two, 😬 interesting update ✅👍
Giving Dolly (our new farm trolley) daily workouts. At last, no more dragging my knuckles carrying buckets of water & goat jellybeans!
Macro man,”YES MAAAATE”
He's back! Turned up at 11am today. The Bromance is back on!
That was easy...... Good update Leigh.
I've got my 'update videos' hat on now 😉
Another brilliant video 👍 really good 🙏 😁
I love bamboo
In season we eat it most days as a side dish with a dip. Love it.
Lee ,i googled Bamboo for 5 mins mate ,i gave up ,you know more 😁Send my love to your better half and stay safe the both of you ❤️
You're too kind Geno.
Toon's fit n we'll just having her coffee in bed before we start the farm chores.
Great to watch
Cheers Gary.
You two are adorable 😍 I want to come live with you all ⚠️💟 love and xoxo from Pittsburgh PA.
LOL lovely for us to read that . . . we do farmstays.
That was my first thought. As hot as I got in TL, find a bit of shade and the temp's drop dramatically. Will still melt ice, but beautifuly cooler.
So does a bamboo glass keep your beer cool without ice? 🤔
@@ToonLeighporpeangfarmThailand just because I'm American, don't assume I ice my beer. But it probably does. Powerful plant.
Just though of a name for wonder trolley, ............BONZA..............anything good or useful, we say Bonza Beauty Mate, just a suggestion..........Luv your work you two, keep up the great Volgs, Cheers
Just a tad too late mate. Someone beat you to it with Dolly 🤣
getting some mulch 👍
Great to see how well things are going and growing now. I still remember some of your very early vlogs of your land, and the moon rock as you always put it. Seeing it so green and everything growing is simply amazing and all do to your hard work and effort.
Regarding your bamboo field, have you ever come across any Malayan pit vipers making there homes in there?
Cheers buddy. Never spotted a viper in the bamboo....thank goodness!
Love the palm alley , bamboo also good I think it’s an amazing plant . 🙏😊
Best grass in the world ⭐⭐⭐
@@ToonLeighporpeangfarmThailand I think you'd be able to find some better thai-sticks
I think that a great idea planting some bamboo patches around the lake , You can also use the bamboo leaves mixed with human urine to make organic nitrates for free fertilizer, there is a process , I'll look it up for you
Hey guys. Great update. We’ve been wondering about that. We have about 250 bamboo plants we put in the first of July last. We did irrigation and it’s looking pretty good. Lost a few. Got a whole row of the giant bamboo and a few other varieties. We’ll try and get you some pictures. We mentioned we have 43 ry near Phu Kradueng, Loei.
Watch out for snakes.
Beautiful! Thanks for the update. You know just a couple days ago, I watched a video by Geoff Lawton at Zaytuna Farms and he was talking about leaf mulch from Bamboo and I was trying to Google pictures to understand how dense it was. I never found a good result but this video helps a lot.
(I live in northern states and we don't grow much bamboo here)
I find Geoff Lawton is a joy to watch. Such a wonderful caring character. His depth of knowledge about soil & different growing systems is off the scale.
Really nice to see this! What if you would add more water would it grow faster? And they always told me it attracts snakes so they didn't let me grow it.. is that true?
I bought one bamboo plant it’s not doing much relaxing I guess
Dolly the trolley.
Love it Steve . . . Dolly it is.
Hi, new subscriber here! What is the general purpose for you planting bamboo? Are you wanting to sell the shoots, use for timber on the farm or you wanting to sell it commercially? They say bamboo worldwide is going to be the new timber industry since wood is getting space and grows a lot slower. It can be very profitable depending on how much you plant and how you are able to manage it.
Hey Toon and Leigh, great video my friend. Is that stuff timber bamboo or is it just big? I know that the timber bamboo doesn't grow in clumps like that (I think). What I have seen of it, it only pops up every few feet. Good to see that smile on your face.
I'd class this variety of Taiwan bamboo as multi-purpose. It's not the straightest or the tastiest but it's super strong, grows all year (given water in the dry season) & very few fibres even when it's harvested at a large size.
@@ToonLeighporpeangfarmThailand, I will probably buy some from you to make a bong I've been thinking about. It doesn't have to be too big just enough so it will cover my mouth.
Hi Leigh. Thank you for all the very interesting videos. I’ve been following your quest to achieve your dreams for 2 years now. Yours is such an inspirational story. If you don’t mind my asking, what would be the price to buy a 5 acre piece of land like yours, around your village area, at today’s price? And roughly how much would it cost to construct a two bedroom, two toilets cement house with solar panel, water tank and sewage tank? Just some rough guesstimate would be helpful to understand how much money I have to budget to live a smaller dream than yours. 😀.
I need to get back to you on this one matey.
Toon's out collecting food for the goats with her mum & she'll know what the land prices are at the moment.
One thing's for sure though, we live in one of the cheapest areas in Thailand. Great for buying but probably not the best place for selling 'stuff' locally lol.
Trolley McTrolley face?
Have you given a Moringa update in a while? I'm still thinking about putting some on our land
Mine froze out this winter very disappointed
Ours has just sprouted back into life after a bit of rain. There'll be plenty more planted this year when the rains come. The goats love it now 😉
What happened to the guys you had working/living on the farm?
That was the plan but we weren't able to get the guy back into Thailand. After offering to sponsor him & give him accommodation he disappeared. He resurfaced about a year later but for us, that boat had already set sail.
@@ToonLeighporpeangfarmThailand ahh, I remember now but don't think I realized they were one and the same
Are those Date Palms?
Toon has planted a couple of very small date palms but the big ones are palm nut oil palms. Thankfully, most of the standing water has soaked away now.
@@ToonLeighporpeangfarmThailand Thanks for the reply. Had snow last night so your vids warm me up.
@@UPGardenr we remember snow 🤣
Thing with a closed canopy its a great place for Mosquitoes to hide & have a feast when humans come a visiting
Luckily we both have the skin of a rhino 🤣🤣🤣
@@ToonLeighporpeangfarmThailand 😂🤣😂🤣
how have you not called the wonder trolley barry? its basically a barrow and we all know that barrows are called barry ffs lol
Ffs we can't change it now.... Porpeang Farm Rule No.23 - There will be no changing of names for items on the farm.
Our hands are tied....Dolly it is until her wheels fall off.
