- A day spent cutting out our old bamboo poles on the farm before the coming rainy season. We also sampled drinking water straight from fresh bamboo for the very first time.

Four beers in this vlog " lovely " thanks Toon & Leigh :) thumbs up !
Beers & Porpeang Farm videos....& Great viewing combo ⭐⭐⭐
Thumbing given. I love all the cool things to do with bamboo. I drank water from bamboo in the jungle in Vietnam when we ran out of water in our bottles.
Looks like Toons doing all the hard work, of course holding the camera can be very strenuous 😊
Very interesting video of bamboo. You two are fun together. Great to see. Have good day...thank you
That's much appreciated thank you Bill. Same to you 👍
Toons comments though! Very funny! Loving these videos.
That's very kind thank you 👍
Toon gave u 5 out of 10 for bamboo dragging, hehe. I give Toon 10-10 for cutting ability. Goats 10-10 for knowing food comming down.
I thought 5 was a tad harsh ☝️
Did you do anything in this video? I see the stress you put Toon under. This job cleaning up the bamboo looks very satisfying. I would like to give it a go some day
brilliant video love it !!!!!!!! you two are like little kids playing and having fun
Toon would soon bin me off if we didn't have a laugh every day. Lucky the farm is just one big playground for us!
@@ToonLeighporpeangfarmThailand rejuvenating to simply watch you two at work and play :)
I like the bit when you almost butcher a goat.
I think I trimmed her nose hair!
Hilarious!, Bamboo Chang!...great vid!
Thank you Paul. It was a good laugh recording that together 👍
Bamboo water 😁 had great laughs
Lovely to hear that thanks Robert 👍👍👍
New sub here, loving your blogs, Toon is a diva and makes me laugh, Leigh well done on quitting the drink, I am trying too. I love Thailand and love your farm life. Living the dream. Lots of Love xx
Thank you Nadine. We're glad to hear that you found our channel.
She tired of yo ass 😂 that "get up" 😒 🫲 was personal 😂
Interesting. I planted som bamboo at my house. I found it difficult to propagate but didn’t use your technique using a knuckle. . Ended up getting a saws-all and cutting a rhizome from the ground . That worked okay so now I have two clumps growing. I don’t water mine and hope the get whats needed from nature. They are growing but I can see they would like more water.. maybe a battery operated sawsall would make your life easier.
Hi Toon & Leigh, thanks for the update and I'm happy to see your doing well.
Thank you SR 👍
I'd be setting up a hammock or small sala in the bamboo grove. Nice and shady.
In eastjava it's called "bule angon wedhus"....n drink "banyu wit pring.
Thank you East Java 👍
Bamboo felching!
😂
You can keep the water. Nice new hat toon.
Yep, bamboo water ain't all that it's cracked up to be, well not in my book anyway. Toon bought that hat for me but it's so small it cuts my circulation off!
@@ToonLeighporpeangfarmThailand has your head shrunk too? 😁
I'm being facetious of course.
There you go Leigh, Toon has never eaten your socks...... Smart lady.......55555555
Another classic line from the Mrs that dropped me like a stone (as usual 555.)
@@ToonLeighporpeangfarmThailand You gotta love her,,,,..... Yes you do.....
Hahahaha! Love it!😆🎋
I was so happy when Toon asked me if the video camera was charged this morning.
Did I see a large termite mound around one of your bamboo and should you get rid of it . Do they eat your bamboo
We leave it for all the wild mud mushroom...not long to wait now!
I would love to come and live with you guys. Self sustaining and easy going. I don't mind hard work, done it all my life, I kinda miss it now I'm retired. And Toons cooking would be a bonus ;)
We have the village house that's 2 minutes away & available for rent 😉
How long did you wait until you started propagating the bamboo?
Did you choose the land because of the Natural water table ?
One of Toons older sisters owned the land previously while we lived back in the UK.
Although we had always loved staying on the farm on holidays we never even thought about owning & living on it in the future.
Then the opportunity came when toons sister needed to sell it ASAP.
OMG..... So funny. I shall bear this in mind on my next SAS mission. Meanwhile ..... Beer Chang korat lek krap.... mai ow narm keng. :)
Not much bamboo growing in Hereford these days lol.
Hi Toon and Leigh
What would you recommend to stop Beatles eating and killing our coconut trees in Thailand.?
Thanks
Now that's a good one Paul. Ours we're getting nailed quite badly but I now spray them with a soap, cooking oil & baking soda solution & alternate with a neem, lemongrass & eucalyptus tea. It's definitely working but the problem is it only seems to be effective a for a couple of weeks. That may well be reduced even further in the rainy season. The other problem is once they're inside it's a proper challenge.
I think some farmers use mothballs & some sort of ferrnomes to deter them.
Just had a thought, which I'm going to try....get a load of neem branches with plenty of leaves on & shove them in the tops of the trees. Chuff all likes neem leaves!
I'll let you know how we get on with that idea here 😉
@@ToonLeighporpeangfarmThailand thanks Leigh for your reply.
I will try these ideas and all the best with your farm.🙏👍☕️
Did you think about a shredder to move the mulch along ? It can turn all the branches and leaves into much smaller pieces to break down
Believe it or not, all our bamboo and palms were smothered with shreddings we made from leftover goat food. It breaks down so fast we can only see the biochar now. We use our old trusty banana shredder btw 👍
How much land do you guys have and how much was it to purchase? I would like to do something similar. So any advice would be welcome. :)
A small chainsaw will more than half your time. and come in handy for the rest of the farm,, And makes a clean cut for when you cut the gum trees,, new shoots will come out better from the cut than it will from been chopped , As it's not a clean cut. Work fast and smart. And it will give you more time in you hammock.. lol..i
Had our current one fixed 3 times. No more until we can buy a proper one!
Dont you get the Bamboo worms out of your Bamboo there nice deep fried
We'll send them to you Gary lol.
@@ToonLeighporpeangfarmThailand send to my Mrs she loves them 🤣🤣
😁🎋🎋🎋
Looking good- mainly for shade, or will you grow into larger and use for other things? CD
Building project (and delicious clean water 555)
Thanks Chris. Mainly for food (eating fresh & preserving.) The old large poles will be used for projects around the farm.
LOL I am with you Leigh i would go to the tap and get a drink,, And did i see a big white ant nest around your bamboo ? Kill them,,
It's a termite mound. We leave it for the delicious Mud Mushrooms to grow at the start of each rainy season. The bamboo still grows, for how long we don't know, but it's a fair trade in our book as it's not a common fungi on our farm...they're expensive around here.
Four beers in this vlog " lovely " thanks Toon & Leigh :) thumbs up !
Glad you enjoyed it John...cheers.
