No MSM company will do this, interview and just talk to people. The truth is like a caged animal to them and they will not let it out.
So huge respect to you for the work you do.

I remember watching a middleclass Sky News reporter stick a TV camera in an old woman's face on her doorstep, I think it was somewhere near Bolton, asking her what she thinks of how things have changed. She said everything was fine, no problems - as if she'd have been able to say anything as the new teens were cycling about outside.
When a working class lad's reporting on these areas, they just open up without any fear, because they can see he's not stupid nor oblivious to the environment.

It's needed. Veitch, DJE Media, Wandering Turnip are also worth watching. Different approachs.
The Guardian occasionaly tries, but even then they can't help telling the interviewees what's good for them.
The elite exist in a bubble, where they extort from the peasants, and are protected, when the peasants aren't.

      Absolutely spot on.
Journalism is gagged in the modern world.
It's no longer a case of get the story out to the people its "how will we present the story to the people and then ensure every other media outlet is following the same line."

@@sweeneytodd011 Journalism is controlled. Look at the coordinated stories over riots as one example. Someone's pulling strings.
The rest of the time, they are lazy. Some comment because comment is cheap.
The rest is regurgitating press releases.
Example, the Gorton killings the other day. Where's the news since? None.
However, I know the names, that 2 not 1 have died, who did it, and who the other victim is. Why won't the MSM do its job?

Maybe it's the future of journalism.
We can no longer trust the media or the government or the police to tell the actual news, better if local people go out and speak to everyday people and put it online.
Modern journalism has been hijacked and gagged.

I’m from Salford born and raised there. My mother had a vision for a better future for us and when I was eighteen she put me on a plane to Texas to visit friends of hers. That was in 1983 now I’m sixty years old and still living in Texas (retired). When I go back to visit my sister it’s sad to see the pubs are all gone and a lot of the shops are boarded up. I feel very lucky that my mother had that vision but very sad for my sisters who still live there.

Years ago when there was a death on the street in the community, natural or otherwise people would all draw their curtains for a period of time as a mark of respect. It was a common practice and I've seen it happen in more modern times living in the North West after the death of a young boy everyone had their curtains drawn for a day or two.

@@sweeneytodd011 I can give a little background or history about the curtain drawing after a death. This "tradition" with curtain drawing was created as a mark of respect to a deceased person and/or to the family of the deceased to give them privacy and time to grieve properly without prying eyes. It became a thing in the 18th Century in the UK (maybe in some other parts of the world too) because of the amount of people dying due to health issues and deteriorating conditions at the time.
There are other "traditions" we have with different coloured curtains but you can look that up online yourselves if you want to know more about it.

To be perfectly honest, it is not the poverty that causes this.
I grew up in poverty but back when I was a child my parents took a pride in their surrounding area. They didn’t drop litter they swept the pavement in front of their house and kept everything clean and tidy. In other words they respected their country. Children were given love and attention and discipline. Something sadly lacking in today’s society where parents typically ignore the children their minds on their in their phones all the time. I am Scottish but i live in Manchester and all I hear is people shouting that they are proud to be English, well if you’re proud to be English clean up your act and clean up your country, because right now it’s one large slum and absolutely nothing to be proud of. Things need to change. When I was young, police walked their beats and they knew everyone in their communities. Now they sit in cars, detached from everyone in their area, not knowing anyone. The days where police protected and served are gone. So the government needs to change the laws and allow people to protect and serve themselves, because right now the law states that if we protect ourselves, we are the ones charged with assault. Apparently, we are just meant to stand there and allow someone to take a machete or a knife to us; a have at it kind of thing. Well, not this lady, come at me with a machete and I’ll hurt you, law be damned. Until the police get back to walking their beats and protecting the citizens that live there, I’ll protect myself. Period.

I grew up in moston in the 80s and 90s, back then all the shops on moston lane was family owned businesses, everyone knew each other. Saturdays was shopping day on the lane with all that you would need to get you through the week, neighbours was the second family members and would look out for each other, you needed sugar and milk you just shouted over the wall to borrow some. Never had any issues growing up there, yes I might have been a feral kid, but I always listened and respected my elders! Now moston is referred to has mostonbique ? I used to be out from morning until dark, especially in the summer, and we barely had any problems, and our parents seemed to think we would be ok. I grew up around Gorton in the 1960's and went to school just at the back of where you were filming. I honestly don't remember it being that much different. There were stabbings back then. There were murders back then. Don't forget that's where the Moors murderers were from orginally.
During the 1970's there was investment into the areas but by the 1980's it was just as bad. I lived next to drug dealers in the 1980's and the streets were filthy back then. I lived in Gorton until the early 90's and couldn't let my kids play out on the street because there were crack addicts on the street corners.
I eventually moved out to the suburbs where I live now but even there there are pockets of crime. It isn't the lack of investment. It's the individual people who make bad choices, a lack of education and a lack of awareness that there is a different way to live.
I don't pretend to know what the answer is. You can invest into an area but unless the people take pride in what they have it will soon deteriorate back into squalor. In this country there seems to be a mentality that the government should look after you and that mentality is worse in deprived areas. It's almost like learned helplessness where people think that is their lot in life and they they can't escape it so take no responosility whatsoever for their own surroundings or their own behaviour.

You get people that run an area down but most are good people, keep their house and garden, even the streets clean, just take a look at the streets around where that terrible event happened.
Moston and New Moston are exactly the same, most just getting on with their lives but there’s others that don’t give a s#£t, a lot go down the wrong path in the suburbs of any town or city as you it’s the same in Liverpool, Birmingham etc.

Looks like ill have to scrap it off the list of things to do because of the ppl being stabbed, the sword fighting in the streets and the rapes and such. There would be a hope for change if Starmer wasnt putting so much effort into being a dictator and actually did something to deal with the crime. No one should have to deal with having thier arm cut off, no child should be left without justice because of the pedorings. Ive got nothing but disgust for Starmer, the law enforcement and the courts in the UK. They have done nothing but let the people down year after year and gone after those who call them out. • @Handlebar-MustDash
      @Handlebar-MustDash 22 дні тому

@@TheLuigi69 I feel some of your pain too Bro. That New Ferry gas explosion was shocking and the devastation was massive. Coming from a northern industrial town not too far from New Ferry. It is criminal that residents have had to battle so hard to rebuild the area.
I would say that a lot of the problems councils have faced have been down to the chronic underfunding by Conservatives where they have actively punished Labour held councils. Labour MPs not in government have very little power in Parliament except to sit on Select Committees.
I agree that there are some awful Labour MPs but in contrast to the thieving and corrupt Tory MPs, they are almost always nowhere near as bad.
Local Councils rely very heavily on the contributions they receive from Central Governments. When these budgets are slashed, they face very stark choices.
There is a video of Rishi Sunaks boasting that he took money from deprived urban areas, Labour Councils and gave it to wealthy Tory constituencies.
      Straight from the horse's mouth.
My town suffers under an extremely ineffectual Labour MP - Derek Twigg, he doesn't even pay for a constituency office, any problems, he holds a once a month 'surgery' at the local Council Tax building. He is less than useless and only pops up once in a blue moon to promote a local business making the windmill structures for wind farms. Never seen him speak in parliament and this is a guy from a council estate.
But the point is, Labour held constituencies can only ever prosper under a Labour Government. Labour MPs can only ever get favourable local decisions from a Labour held government. Conservatives actively punish Labour held areas and then lie to us and blame the local council, typical Tory tactics they have used for these last 50 years. They hate the working classes.

Moston used to be a predominantly owner occupier area but in the last few decades has degraded into mostly rental. Young people used to be able to afford a first home there but can't nowadays because even for the 2 up 2 down terraces they are priced out by landlords, often foreign nationals, who buy sight unseen and pay over the odds because they know they can charge between £800 and £1000 rent per month!
That's where a big part of the scandal lies - absolute profiteering. We urgently need some form of rent control in the UK. Who pays those sky high rents? the taxpayer does via housing benefits, that's who! the poor people who live in them cant afford those kind of rents from what income they have, If they could then they'd be able to get a mortgage on a house somewhere better than Moston!
I'm not advocating for a lower cap on housing benefits because that would just increase homelessness and suffering in the short term, but I am in favour of a cap on rents to discourage absentee fat cat landlords from hoovering up housing stock.
I make no comment on the huge influx of migrants over the same period save to say that it hasn't "helped".
Incidentally the demolished half timbered building is what remains of Hough Hall which may have been built around 1604, when Shakespeare was writing plays and Guy Fawkes was plotting against Parliament!. It's a crying shame that such a part of local heritage has met such an end after roughly half a century of neglect.
