This episode, is about a very cool Cafe Racer, based on a forgotten motorcycle.
Kawasaki KZ 750, also known by Kawasaki Z 750, Which a has a big vertical twin engine.
They were created to compete with motorcycles such as, the Yamaha XS 650, or the Triumph Bonneville, and also the BMW R80.
And the beautiful project presented on this video, is a perfect example, of how the Kawasaki can look like.
This awesome Kawasaki, was built by Marcelo Obarrio, and the team of 'STG TRACKER', from Argentina.
    I hope you like it.
My special thanks to Pedro Torres, for his great help with my English.

This type of build is within reach of all riders and proves you can have a nice cafe racer without going the route of a full bespoke custom and spending 50K or more on the project. This bike, because of its simplicity, is a truer example of the cafe racer ethos. Tilting the tank to get a good bone line was smart and I do like stubby exhaust cans as I think they are more proportional in size relative to the rest of the machine.

As an Argentinian i'm always trilled to see a cafe racer from there!! Specially having into account the shortage of classic bikes, parts, and budget. We are famous for working around all that limitations

@@RACER_TV Indeed, your video work is excellent as always. What amazes me is that you capture the soul of the motocycle and the engineering behind the bike in each video. I wish I could ride every bike that you feature. Each bike reminds of the days I used wrench in a motorcycle shop and creating unique Cafe races was common in the USA.

There is a KZ750 sitting in my garage next to my 1975 Z1 900 cafe. For me, the 70's Kawasaki motorcycles have always been my favorites. The look of the Kawasaki fuel tank is elegant on it's own, and is an iconic look.

Thank you, I have one here in Australia and want to do some mods. on the rear seat and frame to give it a Bonneville like rear end. A lot more sedate compared with this beautiful machine in Argentina. But it's good to see someone value this forgotten bike. Yes, the tank has very nice lines and shape and I have painted it in a Harley denim blue which transforms it's appearance. I think these guys are artists as much as engineers.

The QSPS fuel Guage built into the gas cap is pretty cool. They don't work very well unfortunately. It's really awesome that they took it out of the original cap that it comes in and placed it in the cap that they choose for this bike. Very custom detail.

Yet another excellent prodution, & another beautiful bike. Fitting a "Single Sided Swingarm" on a bike that didn't have one is not an easy task, I've done it a few times now, getting the geometry right is only 1/2 the battle, & as for "Simple, Clean & Easy" those that build know that takes a lot of hard work, I like this, it is "Achievable" apart from the swingarm someone with even "Moderate" talent could build something in a similar vein, not to take anything away from the builder, the workmanship is excellent, I mean it's not too complicated, a lot of people can do a lot more than they think they can, they just have to take that first step, mine was at 12 when I found a Panther 650 on the tip(dump), not one bit was connected to another, I built it with just a handful of tools & no manual, but if you find friends that can do what you can't or have what you don't, you can join together & build bikes for all of you at very little cost, & it makes you feel amazing riding something that you built with your own hands, just don't pay too much for the bike, the "Trendies" have put the price's of anything old, even the "Shite" stuff through the roof. I build bikes in a similar vein to this mainly using 80s, 90s & 00s with "In Line 4s" they have a low centre of gravity, 400cc to 1300cc engines & they are plentiful with all parts available. Have you seen Tomboy-a-bit, she's building a CB750, it's her first build, the donor cost £300 rough as f#ck but a good frame, engine & wheels, the presentation is not to your standard, & she is a proper "Newby" to the workshop but it's a bit of fun. How is your XS coming along? or should I not ask?

    • @RACER_TV

Hello dear Roger That. Very impressive knowing that you started with 12 years old. I think i understand several of the thing you said. I also feel something special when riding my Frankenstein, and all I made, was designing it. Lol. After reading your comment, I search on youtube for the "tomboy_a_bit" channel. Yes, She seems to be a lovely person. But as far as her CB750 is concerned, to be honest, not really. But it is quite impressive if we consider that it is being built by a Woman. No news about the XS project. Sorry. Please ask. It is a good way of remind myself about it. :) Thank you my friend for sharing your perspective. :) Cheers.

This Kawasaki is a beautiful example of a café racer. STG has converted this machine in the most fundamental ways, yet it is, in most respects, an example of a traditional Café Racer. Kawasaki is not something that can be forgotten, but in fact there are products of this brand that have been forgotten. As if they were extinct animals and suddenly in some dark place a Thylacine appeared hidden in some bush, fleeing from the eyes but intact. I think is the case, a motorcycle that even without modifications looks lovely and practical. Even with that exaggerated tailgate from the late '70s. I don't know if my choice would have been a monoshock. Personally, it seems to me something that breaks the design line of the motorcycle, but hey motorcyclists no nos andamos con pavadas, we like to be original in excess as the bosozuco motorcycles at the very extreme of design. This bike has a muscular and powerful image which is no small thing, where the sound passes first and then the shape will immediately attract attention. Shozo Kawasaki as well as Hobuji Murato and Takaji Suzuki founders of Meguro motorcycles I'm sure they would approved

I think you are right. It could look better if it was a bit more distant from the forks. Thank you my friend for sharing your opinion. :) Cheers.

:) Salute.

Twin engine KZ 750 was less popular compared to more powerful 4 cylinder Kawasaki Z series bikes.

I love this channel, but damn, i hate that voice

    • @RACER_TV
      @RACER_TV  2 роки тому

Thanks, But Unfortunately, things are more complicated than most people may think. I use this "robotic" voice created by software, because I'm Portuguese, and my bad English accent (and voice), can ruin the documentary character that I like for my videos. I already tried a real British voice in one of my videos, and, surprisingly, almost everyone hated it. Curiously, the robotic voice sounds realy very good for to non-English natives.
      :) Cheers.

This bike is way much nicer as original. This bastard build is nowhere near the beauty in the stock bike. Nice craftsmanship, but totally fucked uo the styling. I can't see a single reason why people should ruin more of these classic Kawasakis!

Always wished I had the resources and talent to build a custom cafe racer like this- what a dream bike. Really amazing work on this one. This channel is so cool too and I love to see all these designs and custom builds from all over the world.
