I watched the stream back a few days later but I got chills from the crowd reaction, you could just feel the energy. Huge Tokido fan btw so I was on the edge of my seat too, so hype
Totally agree. With all due respect, the other players were really the best of the best at the game right now, but I felt that most of the other matches were "blowouts" because of the high degree of execution and movement. Tokido's sets with Shuto, Kakeru, and Mena on the other hand, were very close, with the Murderface's struggle all too palpable. He's clearly not on the same level of aggressive tactics as Angrybird or Punk, with a lot of missed openings to finish some of the matches, but his fortitude and quick judgment calls were just out of this world. I've never been so hyped since the Evo 2017 GF set and Kawano's Evo GF set last year.
@@chinwenduizenwata6763mother of god. when akuma drops, and we know that he is gonna be a force to be reckoned with, you know tokido is gonna own the character and cause an earthquake in the FGC. Can’t wait.
Tokido is a monster and one of the GOATs. Below are his placement finishes in Street Fighter at EVO. He's as good a bet to make EVO top 8 as any player ever which is insane considering how long he's played and how many more players there are now. Street Fighter 3 2006: 5th-6th 2007: 2nd 2008: 4th Street Fighter 4 - I can't remember why he's not showing up for the early years of SF4, Liquipedia doesn't show him, maybe he was on break? 2009: n/a 2010: n/a 2011: 5th-6th 2012: n/a 2013: 2nd 2014: 33rd-48th 2015: 5th-6th Street Fighter 5 2016: 13th-16th 2017: 1st 2018: 2nd 2019: 49th-64th 2022: 4th Street Fighter 6 2023: 4th
This was argubally the best set of the tournament. So much last minute drama. Kakeru shouldnt be too down on himself. Clearly has a huge future in SF6.
Nah he should be down on himself. Let that fuel him to become a monster. He had the game winning combo and dropped it. This will fuel him to never drop a combo again in tournament.
@@UgandanSniperit really was. Best explanation I heard was Tokido getting counter hit somehow moved his hurtbox to the right where JP's portal tracked him, hence why it missed.
Looks as if the spike tracked to where Ken was standing, but Kakeru reset the combo, or dropped it, not sure. I'm not familiar with JP combo structure, so I can't say what Kakeru's intention was. However, by using the overhead that counter hit, Kakeru knocked Ken's hurtbox downward and the spike missed. Credit to Tokido for the level 1 interrupt, but dang, looks like Kakeru fumbled at a key moment.
@@TheDynamo94 Yes, obviously the devs did a great job of making all the SA3s awesome. But Ken's being one of the best? Cooler than Honda, Luke, JP, Marisa, Lily, Gief, Ryu, Cammy, Dee Jay, Juri? I think the few characters I didn't list might be on par with Ken. His CA is a bit higher but still doesn't compare to some others like Marisa, Lily, or JP.
The audience was like 5x louder than what this video shows. This match was incredible.
I couldn't hear the stream because I was too busy popping off
Boring match. Boring audience. Boring UA-cam viewers.

In victory and defeat, tokido easily gave us 3 of the hypest sets of sf6. Kind of revitalized my enjoyment of fighting games.

Two super clutch plays by Tokido, Do or Die.
Hope Kakeru doesn't beat himself up too much. He had amazing matches, and fought really well.

Tokido might be _THE_ GOAT of the FGC. He's won in multiple games and has been dominant for ages.
This match will be in the Top 10 SF6 matches of all time in whenever SF7 comes out. That was amazing
14:10 absolutely fucking insane he did that. Tokido is the goat
Whenever I hear Sit Down and Shut up! I will think of Kakeru VS Tokido. Both commentators saying it together made it so much better!
must watch
This looks more like a final than grand finals and winners finals. Thanks guys for keep the esence of the game!
Seriously. This was a Grand Finals vibe
Seeing Kakeru dropped those final rounds were heartbreaking.
nothing heartbreaking about being part of one of the best sets in FGC history, and undoubtedly the best set in SF6 to date
Another Evo moment?

one of the most entertaining fighting game sets in history
This just proves that JP is good enough for tournaments.
One of the many amazing sets in top 6

anyone know why the spike in last kakeru combo hit the wrong direction ? if it hit tokido would lose there

Tokido was psychologically better in the end. I can feel Kakeru nervous probably due to lack of competition experience
That could be true but the drop at the end had nothing to do with him. It was just a random thing where the spike came out wrong.
