Sam, I too saw First Light and A Princesses for Christmas. I liked your performances!! I saw the growth between parts you played and felt there was room for a good actor in there, not knowing of all your stage work in the UK, Batman, etc. You were already a wonderful actor!! The word came out Outlander, the series would premiere in 2014 and I was beyond excited to see Jamie and Claire live, on screen, hoping it would, do justice to the characters DG wrote!! At the first Outlander Premier, in NYC, NY, I think, there you were, Sam, in your kilt, boots, red hair and those eyes, speaking out Jamie words a few times and you so became the character on the written pages of Outlander, JAMMF, to the bone!! Lastly, in response to something a fan said it was about it being their Jamie, you replied (directly looking at them), “He’s my Jamie too”!! That moment has stayed in my memory!! Now, on your 10 year Castaversary, I see 2 things that are so beyond words to really explain…looking at you, in character, playing Jamie Fraser, you, Sam Hueghan, become Jamie Fraser in every sense of the character DG created!! Magnificent work, incredible acting, through all the skills an actor uses, word, facial expression, costume, movement, etc. You so inhabit the character written on the page, that there is no one else who could ever play Jamie Fraser!! When I see you out of character, what I see is Sam Hueghan, a consummate actor, stage trained, graduate of a prestigious school of the dramatic arts, a philanthropist who created MPC to help those with Blood Cancer while encouraging others to become healthy, a kind, decent, humble human being. Yes, you are a very good looking man, but so much, much more!! So, Sam Hueghan, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sticking with Outlander when career wise it might have been better for you to move on, for continuing to make the character of Jamie, your Jamie too, for believing in Diana’s body of work and doing the work it’s taken and will take to finish the series!! My husband, Sam, of nearly 57 yrs, watches Outlander with me and loves it as much as I do!! Thank you and Happy Castaversary from my Sam and I to you, Sam Hueghan!! Blessings
