How is God? What do the Vedas say about God? What do other ancient scriptures mention about God? JKYog presents a short lecture by Swami Mukundananda on what do vedic scriptures reveal about God.
Swami Mukundananda begins his lecture on this topic by quoting from the Kenopanishad of the SamVeda, “That person, who thinks I can know God, has no knowledge of God. That person, who thinks nobody knows God, he truly knows God.” The indication out here is that we can never know God. Swamiji quotes further from various Upanishads and Bhagavad Gita, “God is incomprehensible to you; God is beyond your logic and argumentation; your intellect can never grasp God”. In a similar way, other religious scriptures unanimously declare, "God is unknowable".
About Swami Mukundananda: Swami Mukundananda is a renowned spiritual leader, philosopher, visionary, author, and humanitarian. He is the founder of the yogic system called “JKYog.” Swamiji is a unique sanyasi (in the renounced order of life), with distinguished degrees in Engineering and Management from two world-famous Institutes in India, IIT and IIM. He is the senior disciple of Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj. Swamiji’s enlightening discourses clarify the deepest concepts of the Vedic scriptures with wit, humor, and perfect logic. Along with his discourses, he teaches the comprehensive system “Yoga for the body, Mind and Soul”. For the youth, Swamiji has conducted programs at prestigious universities such as Princeton, Stanford, Yale, MIT, Duke and Kellogg School of Management. He has been invited to speak at various Fortune 500 companies like Google, Oracle, Intel, etc. For children, he has established a special personality development program, called “Bal-Mukund Character Building Program.” He has inspired millions of people around the world on the path of spirituality, holistic health, yoga, meditation, service to society, and God-realization. Swamiji's warmth and humility touch all those who have had the fortune to have his association. For full profile, visit: www.jkyog.org/...

@@AmitSingh-ql4ry Scriptures say God is Omnipresent in His 'Narakar' roop or Formless Aspect and also in HIS 'Sakar' roop (with Form). When we think God is Omnipresent only in His 'Nirakar' Form, we are limiting His infinite Potential by thinking that He can pervade the universe only in His 'Nirakar' Form. This violates the definition of God Himself. By definition, Bhagavan is He who can do everything possible, everything impossible and everything contradictory. The fact that He is all-pervading as both Brahm (Nirakar) and Bhagavan (Sakar) is one of His contradictory Qualities. But then He is the abode of all contradictory Qualities. So when we limit His capability in terms of anything, it's just a reflection of our incorrect understanding of who really is Bhagavan (God).

Swamiji left out one important point in this talk. When vedas say God is unknowable, it does not mean it not at all knowable. It only means God not FULLY knowable. In other words you can exhaust your knowledge about God. Whatever aspect you know God (provided such knowledge has vedic pramana) is valid in itself. Hence upanishad's verdict that if you say you cannot know God you know God, should be understood as your knowledge about that one (important nevertheless) aspect of God ( that He cannot be fully knowable), is indeed correct and valid. Hence you know God in that aspect correctly. I wish Swamiji is more explicit in his explanation.

Gurudev , The instruments of knowledge given to us are deficient and ineffective to know God , then who gave those instruments to us in first place ? Prakriti ? but Prakriti is managed and supported by God himself. He is at the root of its design. that means God has given us inadequate instruments and has thrown us into a world where at every step we are conditioned by need , necessity, struggle in life and then he expects us to soley devote and search him with Ananya prem while knowing that our actual physical existance needs suport , love and care of people
    around us.
So what kind of Justice is this ? All i can then say is that God is toying us with his power as he wishes. And if that is so then where does the mercy part come in ? I mean Ex:- Carl Sagan was a wonderful scientist who was a great person at heart and wanted to see peace and science and collaboration in the world. He hated military , he believed that our entire species should
collaborate and come to gether and live scientifically. Now i am sure he is rotating in 8.4 million species because he did not attain God ? What kind of a justice is this ?
I hope you understand the depth and heart behind my question ?

If you listen to the entire philosophy and deeply contemplate, all your doubts will cease to exist. These doubts rise initially when we don't know enough philosophy. I am sure many people will have similar questions like the one you have raised. I had similar questions few years ago, but all my questions were answered over the years. However, this required a lot of dedication and seriousness from my side to know and understand the complete philosophy. Please listen to more and more lectures by Swami Mukundananda. These will help clear your doubts.

No, friend. Yiu know what? Gradually when you ponder upon GOD'S existence and anything related after a time you will realise that you didn't know the god you are to see the god in each being(not necessarily in his karma) and know that you are the manifestation of that supreme energy (unmanifested) and that it pervades in you. He is right when we he says that our intelligence and understanding is limited and we cannot understand God. The Bible says the same thing. God knew we could never reach him. That’s why God reduced himself to become a man and Jesus is a true revelation of God. He was pure, holy, and lived a sinless life. He defined true sacrificial ‘Love’ died and rose again. Jesus is a revelation of who God is.

Sir ! I found ur words real..
In Qur'an or bible , we heard the names of different prophets like Jesus , David , Yousuf , Mohammad who just explain about the God , the way of life ...
But in Indian Scriptures , we see the role of Krishna , Rama , Vishnu , Brahma , Shiva etc... Who they are all ? Why do we need to pray them ? I'm seeking for meaning of God and wanna pray him but not praying to idols . Please help me .. whoever seeing this comment , please reply with ur own knowledge ..

U r heading towards the right direction bro.... God has sent prophets to this world to bring the people towards one God... All of them have preached the very same thing be it Joseph , David, solomom, Jesus Christ from Bible,, or Muhammad saw in Quran,, or bhagwan Krishna , Ram, hanuman .... They never said people should worship them,,, Their teachings implied uniqueness and oneness of God... U carry on with ur findings about God and pray to him that he should show you the right path.. If u r open minded and logical u will surely find the right path...

The Vedic scriptures describe that God has innumerable divine forms; Krishna, Ram, Vishnu, Brahma, Shiva are different manifestations of the same one God because there are no 2 Gods. We have to understand it very very thoroughly that there is absolutely no difference between the different forms of God. Whichever Form of God attracts you the most, you can choose that Form as your Istadev (worshipable form of God). Also, we must remember, when God descends in the material world (Radha Krishna, Sita Ram), He descends in His original Divine form. While our body (all living and non-living things in the material creation) is made of material energy or 'Maya' (i.e., made of muscle, bone, blood etc.) and is impure, the Divine Form of God is made of infinite divine bliss. But just like everything is yellow to the jaundiced eye, similarly when God incarnates in our material world, materially conditioned souls (with their polluted material consciousness) cannot see the divine form of God. They perceive the divine form of God as a material form. That's the most astonishing characteristics of the Divine Form of God. He appears different to different people depending on their level of consciousness. And only God-realized Saints who have attained divine senses after God-realization can see the actual Divine Form of God.

Krishna, Rama, Vishnu, Brahma, Shiva are different aspects of the same source of creation, Para Brahman. They are not prophets or messengers, that idea only works in Abrahamic Religions. While Krishna and Rama were avataras or manifestations who were born on earth and guide Dharma to mankind by engaging in Leela / līlā (divine play).

Can anybody help me in understanding the concept of god in vedic litrature

    • @_KhushbuMakwana
      @_KhushbuMakwana 3 роки тому +1

( vedas is oldest hindu and any religious scripture or text , its words are directly delivered by bhagwan himself just like quran's word are delivered by allha and in hinduism vedas are supreme and divine text )
Now according to vedas god is formless means god or bhagwan does not have any body like human or animal god is formless , divine , infinite/timeless and supreme conseousiness .....
Now you will confuse that if in Hinduism's supreme text says that god is formless then why we worship krishna and ram as supreme who has human form ...so let me tell you that story as well..
God is formless, divine but we believe that god who has delivered vadas he himself came to this earth and teach us dharm ( how to attain human form with truthness and in correct manner ) so RAM took birth and came to here in human form so as ramayan has written and teach us good things and manner then 5000 years ago krishna came here in human form and bhagvad gita has written , bhagwad gita is spoken by god himself so it is said bhagvad gita is as worthy as vadas and in bhagwad gita krishna says i am supreme personality of godhead ......
So god is indeed formless but we believe god has came on earth and at that time he took human form so that's why we worship ram and krishna as supreme who are incarnation of formless , divine and one god .
I hope u will understand why we worship god 's human form and so many god ...in our religion god is only one and formless but we worship their incarnations .

Hear the Word of the Lord:
Hear and seek to understand: The Word of God is fire, each word a burning flame in the midst of an immense fire...
The countenance of The Lord is a fire,
And a flame within a fire...
The glory of The Lord is perfect,
A pure light, a flame within a flame...
    A fire engulfing all creation!
YAHUWAH is One; and His name, One! His name is in Him and is Him. YAHUWAH is His name, and His name is One with Him. They are not separate, but one, even as The Father and The Son are One... A flame within a flame, within an immense fire.
YAHUWAH has no beginning and no end, even as His name. Therefore nothing is outside YAHUWAH, for His being is infinite. And those who pass outside creation enter into His eternal glory, or are burned up in His devouring fire, in His everlasting flame.
Therefore, no one may come to The Father except through The Son, YAHUSHUA, The Purifying Flame. For only The Holy Flame may dwell within The Fire, for YAH is holy. And all those void of The Flame will consume away; they shall cease to exist.
For ALL must pass through the fire,
ALL are subject to the power of The Flame...
The wicked purged, and the penitent purified.
