"Warning: not to be taken as a serious piece of music. Just having fun." If playing this is fun it tells a lot about how top-notch your technique is jeez
Finally, after waiting for a few years, now I can watch this extraordinary and jaw-dropping compostion, AGAIN! Thank you Sergio for reuploading the piece!
Superb arrangement and stunning performance. I remember seeing this video years back and was in awe of your magnificent technique. I'm glad it's being uploaded again for everyone to enjoy!
“Leopold Godowsky wants to know your location”. In all seriousness though, this sounds like a combination Godowsky could have thought of, which is the highest compliment I can give with regards to a reworking of a Chopin Etude.
this is beyond cool.. we need MUCH more of this in the classical music world... and for goodness sake... can we PLEASE get some new (tonal and BEAUTIFUL) comic opera!!!!
Is the French documentary you are referring in the description the one you were playing Moises Moleiro's Joropo in the ending? When I was a high schooler I watched that documentary many times and loved it, it was the one uploaded on YT by someone though. But the video is gone now. I'd be so glad if you could re-upload in your channel😩❤
I have a question - wouldn’t the fact that the Op 10 No 12 in the left hand here is in G# minor mean that the hand positions would be wildly different to C minor? Does that not affect your practice? Or do you force yourself to use C minor fingering on G# minor?
hello as a classical pianist myself i appreciate your playing..it's a good arrangement...is there any sheet music to it?...also do you slide your index fingers when playing chromatic thirds or...what is your fingering?
Godowski's 53 paraphrases on the 27 Chopin Etudes are stunningly difficult, inventive & effective. If you can play them ,you can play anything! He has several that play 1 Etude in 1 hand while the other plays an entirely different Etude, to halfway then each hand switches roles. He calls it Badinage. Try any of these I dare you!
If Chopin's etude were just the thirds, it would be forgettable except for its difficulty. The expressive burden of the piece is in the left hand. This is clever, but flat. Nicely played, though.
Bob, sorry to read you think this is “flat!” Actually it is in G♯ 😜🤣 Also, if you study the piece you will soon learn that there is expression in both hands and zero burden. Bravo 👏 to the artist. Very clever indeed, and FUN.
I'm glad you're honest as to the merit to this art. The combination of the two melodies into one piece doesn't add much, except as an interesting experiment, and as a means for an exhibition, both of yourself and your budding compositional abilities. For one thing, it's clear that the melody of the No. 12, Op. 10 has lost much of its character, and the rhythm does not suit the melody of No. 6, Op. 25, certainly not compared to original accompaniment. Again, impressive, however, it compares to what Hamelin has written, though the latter has had much experience, and probably what this lad write at his age is no better than what Hamelin did at the same age.

Sergio Godowsky!!!!!!
Fantastic ❤️‼️
"Having fun" seems to be the essence of creativity at its peak. Not to mention technical skill which is beyond belief!
I thought I'd pretty much seen it all with Chopin etudes and their variants/arrangements, but boy I was wrong... this is incredible...
off the charts so...
This is hilariously virtuosic. Wish more modern pianists did this kind of thing. What creativity
TRUE... agreed... Beethoven use to improvise on his own piano sonatas...
hamelin and godwsky did similar things
@@lotzu_yea but I’d rather have something that sounds good
@@lukemagee1515 hamelin is mad crazy but its good too. and godowsky is js amazing. ofc the original studies r wayy more beautiful
@@lotzu_ they just sound like noise IMO, like sorabji or the Spanish fantasy

Breathtaking.
This guy is seriously underrated just as a virtuoso

Oldie but goodie!
Hahaha! I like that! Oldie but goodie.

Is there a sheet music for this? This is incredible lol
Of course there is. Probably the hardest Chopin etude. Look for "thirds chopin etude" you'll find it.
@@randomaccount2448 oh sorry, I didn't know it was another version

Great to see this again!
Mr. Tiempo how could I study the score?
Bravo👏👏
Hi. Will you be coming to Los Angeles soon? I will move heaven and hell to see you play
Hi! Sorry for the insanely late reply. I will be playing at the Hollywood Bowl beginning of September with my sister, Karin Lechner.
hello as a classical pianist myself i appreciate your playing..it's a good arrangement...is there any sheet music to it?...also do you slide your index fingers when playing chromatic thirds or...what is your fingering?
Thank you. I did write it down a loooong time ago, but I think I need to write it down again. Will let you know when I do.
Thank you. I will try to find it but if not I’ll just write it down again.
Just a quick question... do you have score of this?
Yes. I did in any case, but I need to dig it up. If not I will just write it down again.
Amazing! You have a great technique!

Fantastic playing. Looks like great fun! Why was there a soprano aria at the end 😅
Hahaha😂 it was part of a longer program I think
nice
Debería volver a escribirla.
Hi Sergio , i just composed a study with a mix of 2 studies, it would be an honor if you could listen and Even play it ,how can i do ?
My fingers are hurting watching this .....
Riveting..... er....Revolutionary!
Que locura!!...
Good musician hear stuffs. Its like mixing lemon and tea and you get lemon tea. Why not...lemon tea taste good too.❤
how can you be so genial? :)
Bro is just flexin
How to get this technique ? XD
*PRODIGIEUX* 🎹🌈
It’s cool and flashy, maybe a bit overwhelming, but I genuinely enjoyed the ending flourish in the left hand
What's overwhelming about it? I think it's all done with taste.
This is what I imagine Liszt experimented with
Maravilhoso
Saludos.
❤️❤️❤️
I don't know how he does it but just maybe they fed him with red bull instead of a milk 🍼 😅 incredible
Not sure I'd be able to study even the left hand only.
If Godowsky tweaked Chopin's Etudes into his Studies on Chopin, why not? Combining Chopin etudes contrapuntally was Godowsky's method.
천재
😍😍😍😍😍
He’s so cute
Wow, that's better than Godowsky (and a good strategy for when 78 rpm records will come back).
😂

Ella miseria!

The melody is in the left hand but the expression is equal. You need quite the variety of dynamics, tones, colors, etc. in the right
Bye bye legato
This is some Godowsky level stuff right there
“Too many notes.”
