People dismissed Dans Tes Bras saying it's cachemeran centered. But it was very well done. Uncut Gem may have the same reaction with the ambrocenide. Malle has always tried to be modern.
Thank you 🙏🏼 The une rose and rose tonnerre comparison. I agree, I found the heart to be missing from the new one. That was the biggest difference. When you remove the heart of a perfume, it falls a bit flat. I used to love Malle and still do to a degree, but they are heading in a bad direction for many reasons, sadly. That's my opinion and thoughts though. The violet pretending to be an iris. I get you. Violet notes are usually ionones, alpha, beta and methyl Ionone in particular. You can manipulate these with other materials, vanillin, carrot seeds etc to approximate an iris, and use other materials such as Alpha-irone, province, iris bases (e.g. orris givco) or n-methyl Ionone (isoraldeine). But it never smells quite right. Also, the more you add of iris accord made up of these materials the louder they get. Real orris butter, and or absolute have the opposite effect; the more you add the softer it gets. Rarely is real violet absolute used, Hiram Green Vivacious for example. Violet absolute is an extraction from the leaves. Not the flower.
Yea, Rose Tonnere is nice but not nearly as rich and dark as my old little sample of Une Rose, where is the wine and mushroom! That's really interesting about iris and violet. I've actually got a sample of Vivacious I'll have to wear it again soon!
I swear when I tried it I imagined you frowning at the word "metallic". 😂 Not nearly as challenging as M/Mink but yea something of that sharp inky smell is there. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts when you try it!
