Soon 30 and haven't been as active in my 20's as i would have liked. Haven't been on my snowboard for probably 5 years now. This has really inspired me to get out more in the next couple years!
Do it! I've been in the same situation, went skiing with some early 20's guys and coworkers, never regretted it. Just make sure you're decently worked out to keep up lol, or start the training on snow Edit: I'm above 30 now, you don't decline much if you've been skiing all your life, just remember to trust/test your skis before doing drops or sketchy conditions or telemark etc! ;)
Was watching on the phone and after 30 seconds I had to fire up the big desktop that this artwork deserves! You have my vote, Rad stuff increased, emmissions decreased and subscriber stoke is at an all time high :)
Waw 😍 thank you for sharing those magical moments with us ! You deserve more visibility on UA-cam for the content you produce 🤯 Like the footages are amazing and reducing every one’s emission is a great cause to defend ! Thx Niko ❤️
What an absolute WILD watch. Those mountains are beautiful and look crazy dangerous to climb. And then you decide to take the fastest and most fun way down. Wild, so fucking cool.
This is the coolest shit. I like to think that the furture of big mountain skiing lies nearly entirely on manpower. Just as jetskis enabled surfers to prove what the body is capable of doing in big waves, helis got us to the highest peaks on skis, but now, as the big waves are being paddled into, we climb our mountains before sending them.
Nice to see your fantastic video's, so nice not to see death and tragedy . film quality is excellent and you guys know your limits. Thanks, I have just subscribed and look forward to see more of the places you go and the wonderful mountains you ski.
Big mountain style skiing to me is like taking a cake and eating it in five big bites. I'm more one little bite at a time and make it last kinda eater. To each their own...
You Guys are "powerful" to say the least !! How many hours does it take you to climb up to ski and board? Good to see it done this way. Thanks for sharing.. "May God keep you safe. Amen."
I love your Films, Skiing and overall positive attitude - You are an inspiration to me as an aspiring filmmaker. I do have a question for you what sort of studies have you looked into as far as climate change? As an Energy Executive I think fossil fuels have a far greater positive impact on the planet/mankind than harmful. Lets adventure and have a discussion about it - I'm willing to meet you anywhere on the globe for that coffee. :)
Thanks! Glad you’re into the videos. I based my conclusions on studies like this meta analysis of the 11 602 peer reviewed articles on global warming published in 2019, which found that 100% of the scentists observing the issue agrees humans burning fossil fuels are to blame: journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/0270467619886266 I would love for them all to be wrong of course. The winter months are a little busy for me, but feel free to direct me to any reading that you recommend :)
@@Nikolai_Schirmer Right on, I'll check it out .and thank you for understanding that it isn't an attack against your conservation efforts but a different perspective on the reality of the amount of energy it takes to provide heating, cooling and food for modern man. @RollsRoyce is developing a nuclear reactor that could change the world. @elonmusk is also onto something with Solar but it still takes non-renewal resources to build, maintain and install. Cheers to you Niko.

How do people get into this type of thing?I mean what equipment would you need and how do you start scaling mountains in a safe way,so as to learn how to do it?
You should definitely start out with an avalanche class to learn the basics. I made a video about the gear here: ua-cam.com/video/5t3yWmcCk9Q/v-deo.html
hey Nikolai! First off I need to say that your videos are absolutely insane! You inspire me and I think your goals are amazing. I would love to ask you some questions, would you be okay with that? In advance, thank you for the effort! Kind regards, Ruben
@@Nikolai_Schirmer well I'll quickly introduce myself, I'm a 19 year old from Holland and I have a great passion for skiing. I wish to do the same thing you do, so ski touring to ski spines, couloirs and fresh turns and trees, while keeping it sustainable. Now, obviously we do not have any mountains here, so I only get to ski one week a year in Austria, which on itself is absolutely fine, but it is hardly a challenge. My family deem it too dangerous to ski even slightly off piste so I do not have any experience with such things. Do you have any tips for me, and do you happen to know someone that could help me out getting some experience in touring out of bounds? Thanks again! Also, sorry for replying about a week late, I just never got the notification :)
Majestic Tiger hey bud. Austria is great! The thing about skiing safely in the backcountry is you need experience and knowledge. The only way to get that is to go out there with someone who has that. Attend an avalanche course next time you’re in the alps. The basics are pretty easy. Then as soon as you get the chance I would go to the alps and do a full season to get the experience. There are forums for scandinavian ski bums to connect on facebook. There might be some dutch ones? If not I’d just go! You’ll always meet someone once you get there
@@Nikolai_Schirmer thank you for your answer, I'll have a look on Facebook and other forums as soon as I can! I first have to finish school, so next year I can do a whole season. I'm gonna try to attend an avalanche course asap, that would be very helpful! Do you have any recommendations for good ski gear as well? Thanks!
@@majestictiger6012 Awesome! Good ski gear is the whatever you can afford I'd say haha. If you can afford anything I'd check out what my sponsors make. I'm a happy camper on the mountain riding around with that.
His goal was to reduce his emissions from the previous ski season. Instead of traveling all around Europe burning fuel he decided to stay in one area of Norway and simply wait for ideal ski conditions. By reducing his travel and becoming vegetarian he was much friendlier to the environment. The voting was to see if his ski film this year would be better or worse than his previous film where he was more careless with his emissions. The voting showed that even by being environmentally friendly you can still make a top notch ski film. Happy shredding my dude.
there's a point where skiing becomes controlled skydiving
I love that fine line!

skiing and snowbaording is getting insane and im lovin t
I wanna get to that point
At some point skydiving is more controller than skiing

dead people yields no footprints
Every year I increase my emission by a factor 10👍🏻
I mean, if he *had* died he would’ve lowered his emissions to 0, so...
