Hi brother! My BK9 has a similar sheath and I didn't want to cut the part where it snapped in so I cut the thread and sewed it up higher so I wouldn't cut it out putting the knife back into it's sheath. Have a great weekend brother! Thank you for all you do
I've thought about doing that to this sheath. I'm going to carry it a bit and see if the handle gets hung up on stuff before I do. Thanks for watching.
Much of this stuff pre-dates my arrival at ESEE. We cleaned out an office and storage building and I'm putting prize packages together for the next few videos...till I run out of stuff....so stay tuned for more GAWs! We hope you enjoy it and congrats again! That blade has been banged around in a box for YEARS...moved from one spot to another...so that probably accounts for some of the dulling of the tip especially....if you like the RTAK II I'd suggest really looking at the Junglas 2...it's feels more like a big E6 than a smaller Junglas....great blade and very well balanced.
I can't wait to see what else you have come up with. You're probably right about the tip. I've resharpened it now at it is shaving sharp. I've already been putting it through it's paces. I'm looking forward to your next video. I'll look at one the next time I'm down at Smoky Mountain Knife Works. Thanks for watching.
That is a war horse of a knife! Definitely would be great for working up kindling and such, but still can be used for smaller jobs as well. Good review Brother!
I've been very impressed with it so far. And it's surprising for the size, just how nimble it feels when using the choil. Will definitely be seeing more of this one. Thanks for watching.
It is a beast for sure. I would have never looked at a knife that big myself. But I may have been missing out. Time will tell. Thanks for watching. Do you have a Instagram account?
I have had this one for a number of years and really like the knife except for the coating on the blade. I'm not a fan of it at all. Everything wants to stick to it and it's really hard to clean it off. Especially pine or fatwood. Other than that I have no issues with it.
I wondered if it would be an issue. I know the coating that ESEE uses has the same issues. That's the reason I always remove the coating from them. Thanks for watching.
The Esee Junglas has a much better handle. My cousin has a RTAK2. And I have a Junglas. I like the high saber grind better than the full flat grind as well. 5160 is better in respects to toughness than 1095. Both Ontario and Esee run their steel softer to get the most toughness respectively. I like a choil on a big knife too. That back edge is important for doing fine work. But you don't have to have a choil. You can still do it. I think I'd rather have a Junglas 2 over either the RTAK2 or regular Junglas. Cliff Stamp. A very brilliant knife person. Has a channel. He hasn't been very active in recent years. But is still probably the best knife resource on UA-cam. Here's a clip of what he did to a Junglas way back. ua-cam.com/video/Bwq6Eu0UjwA/v-deo.html Back when the Junglas first arrived on the scene and the RTAK2 was going head to head. Busse Combat came out with the Bushwacker Mistress. I think it is a more perfected design in the same class as the Junglas or RTAK2. Full convex grind (Much better than the Junglas or RTAK2). Better choil. Waaaay better steel. Just a better rendition overall.
@@DutchK75 I agree with you about the handle. The junglas does look like it has a comfortable handle and is smaller than the RTAKII. As far as any other differences I've never used a junglas but would love to have a chance to. Thanks for watching.
Very nice review, Thank you for the video
Thanks. I'm really impressed with it. The performance has really surprised me. Thanks for watching.

cool knife ,beast of a knife. I looked at one while back ,but the sheath is least to be desired . Thanks for the info on how to date the knife .

That's a incredible price! You won't be disappointed. Thanks for watching.
Beast .... 😄
Yes it is. Can't wait to put it through it's paces.
@@CentralKyBushcraft, hope you roll video for it . 🙂
I will make sure of it! 😉
My esee Junglas is a early one ser. # 129
That is a early one. Have you ever had a hold of the RTAK II? Curious as to how it compares.
@@CentralKyBushcraft no I never have the only Ontario I have and use is the sp53
Ah. I'd like to talk to someone who has used both just to see how they compare. Thanks for watching.
