@@TonysTractorAdventure you could build a load table to pull up beside your mill with one ram to flip the log right onto the mill... n put to rams under your mill one small one for your stops to go up n down to adjust with one lever and another ram with say a part of a saw blade to flip the log for ya under it as well... u could do it with a four way valve and one pump and a lawn mower motor 10 hp to run it... to save your back n your tractor... im looking into this mill and lol my age for my own projects i cant take the twisting n torqueing of my own body after 30 yrs of heavy haul.. but i really do enjoy your video here and I really like this mill... thank you for sharing...
I have started using the tractor to turn the logs. I may end up buying another sawmill. I am finding, I am being offered many large trees. Most don't want money. They just want the tree gone.
Love watching you work, Tony. Got a little advice for you on working the tractor hydraulics. try to keep your arm resting on the fender or something else and use your wrist, or fingers to work the controls for the arms and the grapple, or bucket, or whatever you're operating. That will make the operation a lot smoother. Experience, my friend. You have a blessed day, Sir.
Thanks for all the info, a lot of credit goes to you that I'm ordering the same mill. I would like to suggest not using the impact diver on the jacks as the on/off action will damage the threads eventually. You would have the same results with a drill set on low torque using the clutch feature. Thanks again for all the valuable info!
I'll bet your loving the results after installing the new log stops and log dogs. The more stable the log is on the bunk , the better the cut. Your really going to love having the cam dog. Hope the back feels better soon.
Good work guys! Yep, this rain and thunderstorms is coming in now. I've been sheltering all day. Pine is some of the best wood for building, although the resin is obviously very sticky.
The Woodland Mills and the Frontier are very close to the same sawmill with slight variations. My sawmill does what it says it will do. I am reasonably happy with it.
I think I like the saw mills on the trailer better than those that sit on the ground. Good video, great information. Is the sawdust coming out of the chute wet, or dry?
Tony, Love the videos! I am thinking of replacing my NH TC29. I came across your videos looking for info on the T474. Due to the cold northeast winters I am thinking about a cab. BUT on the fence, between the added cost and the fact I am rough on my tractor. I have definitely been in tight places in between trees in the woods. What are your thoughts on cab vs no cab?
We have super hot days, but cabs will not take the woods ( any brand) It will be just a matter of time before the glass or the cover is damaged in my case. If it was primarily a field tractor, then yes. For the woods like we will do, then no on a cab.
Good job....Looks to be a good mill but could use some diy hydraulics to make your life a lil easier... It wouldnt be hard to do... Even a log loader for it... Seems to be a good mill for the price though...
I don't need a log loader. I have a tractor. 😁 a hydraulic log turner would be nice. I have started turning the big logs with the tractor. I think I have under bought the mill. We may look at a bigger mill.
Depends on where you live. Never seen any inspector, ever, on a build site looking for a stamp. People have been building with sawmill lumber for years here. Let's be honest. Does the stamp really mean anything anymore. I go to the box stores and look at bundles of so call "stamped lumber" that I would not put in a pig pen. I will take my quality any day of the week.
@@TonysTractorAdventure I totally agree with you, framing wood buildings for 50 yrs, have seen terrible junk....but every inspecter i have ever known looks for the stamp....and was personally told i can not use it.....could be fined or have it tore down or both.....so we will see...i have cut what i need and im building soon
I love to see people turning old trees or logs into lumber instead of firewood.
Another 6 months on the ground untreated, and these logs will have started to rot. They are going to turn out some amazing lumber.

Thank you. The jacks are hold up well. I have done an engine upgrade on the sawmill. It is a beast!

I've seen videos where they put purple power in water mix sawing pine to help with resin. Didn't know if you had seen it to.
I have not heard that. The pine oil did well. I had no problem to this point.

You see many Wood Mizers and woodlands mills but your Frontier seems equal to the task,,

Did you install the jacks under the bed of the sawmill yourself. I don't see that option on the Frontier website
I built my trailer. The jacks are travel trailer leveling jacks. Heavy built.

Get a small pancake air compressor and if I’m not mistaken you have a 120v plug on your truck correct

Tennessee, at least in the rural counties, do not have building inspectors, only electric inspectors.
