Neil Diamond is the most memorable of the 70s music and a most handsome man then and even now ! There was just something about his " STYLE" ; music, clothing ,demeanor ; all of it ! He was the SOULFUL CUP at the COFFEE SHOP in the little village where I lived then as a teenager. His music will always be a part of my life ! I loved him then and and love him now ! I first listened to this song this morning, and have listened to it about a dozen times or more, it is a beautiful song, once again Neil Diamond captures the very essence of what love is all about, his vocal on this track is fabulous, and is a throwback to Neil at his best, here is a man in his mid seventies, and yet can still grab us with a song of love, and understanding what love is all about, a true musical genius.

In browsing one of the streaming music sites, I came across this song that I heard for the first time. In spite of the extensive collection that I have of Neil's music, somehow I missed some of the most profound lyrics of all that he has written. This goes right to the heart! Apparently Into his 70's, in an intro to the song at a live performance he said, "I FINALLY, I think, found the truth and the meaning of love." Some of us may have had the opportunity to learn the art of love at sometime in our journey of life when we were younger - Neil's lines were "I know I'm on a journey I won't forget ... I know I had it in me to give and yet I never could." Poignantly, some of us never did learn the art of love - to receive it and to share ... perhaps it "finally" can become a reality, even now after all the missed opportunities.
I've been reflecting on Neil Diamond as i have watched his european shows on Periscope, and remember when he first sang on the radio, back in the 60s. Listening to him now, i find his strength incredible. this song came along at the right time.
