I've got an 03 Z71 suburban and a 14 LTZ suburban. I fell in love with these Tahoes and suburbans in the 90s as a kid. Definitely my favorite vehicles.
This is an awesome video and I was able to successfully do this on my 2007 Tahoe. I also had the same problem with the nuts holding in the part above the license plate freely spinning. So I had to install the cam on top like the vid creator. If you do this be aware that it can block your rear wiper. So make adjustments as necessary.
Good job! I was doing my suburban at probably the same time as you. I had the same issue getting the license plate cover off. I ended up drilling a hole in the license plate cover metal of the door. I then fished the camera wire through the holes and did not have to remove it. I also used the same Eonon head unit as you, but I added surround view cameras (birds eye view) as well. placed the side cameras on the stationary part of the side mirrors so they don't move when I fold the mirrors in. Works great! The head unit does have an issue in the summer where it stops working once in a while. Stopping and restarting the car brings it back. Might be overheating. 115 degrees out there.
Nice upgrade from factory radio, but did you know you can retain the factory usb plug-in (if you have one) without any adapter... Yup, right under the centre console tray, just unplug the factory usb cable under the centre cupholder area and plug in the usb cable from the radio.
