Hi Luke, the wife and a are a few hundred years older than you. We camped for five decades starting with tents, to pick-up toppers, to an 18-foot travel trailer, and today our camp sites are the Quality Inns. Our home is out in the woods, and we still enjoy backyard camping with campfires, outdoor cooking, swimming in the lake, and enjoying the wildlife and peace and quiet. If I was young again one of these Teton tents would be great for us. Outdoor gear has come a long way in 50 plus years. Keep up your great videos.
I used my Vista 2 with a cot and extended rain fly here in Ohio early spring of 2022. Our second night out we had very strong wind, rain and low 40’s temps. Stayed dry and comfortable all night long. I love mine
I just bought the Mountain Ultra 2P tent to use for car camping. My wife and I took it to the beach a couple weeks ago. It poured the rain the first night. We were 100% dry.
Luke, I'm glad you're looking into Teton Sports products. My husband & I have their Zero degree sleeping bags for tent camping, along with their pillows. We love them both. They may not have UL backpacking equipment but for car camping, they offer reasonably priced, quality gear.
I used this tent this weekend. It rained really hard and was super windy. I was completely dry. It’s a pretty decent tent for the price. The Only thing I didn’t like about it is that the stakes are super cheap.
Michael from The Outdoor Emporium uses these quite a bit with Simon and Esme (his dogs). He's camped extensively in these and has fantastic insight, tips and ideas on how to use these to their best advantages. I love the idea of the 2 person setup under a second tent shelter or tarp to provide cover for camping outside the tent. Not to mention in the winter, this tent/cot within a tent or canopy provides greater sleep isolation, better protection against the elements and a very cozy setup! As alway Luke, God bless you my friend, prayers for your family and thank you for the reviews.
I’m looking at this for a motorcycle tent camping scenario. After I’ve ridden all day the last thing I wanna do is spend 45 minutes messing with trying to get a tent put up the way this folds up I think I can make it work. Something I do whenever I get a new tent and I buy a lot of tents because I haven’t found anything that I really really like. But when I practice setting them up at home before I take them camping I always get some kind of waterproofing spray make sure that you spray the seams inside and out do the whole rain fly flip it over and do the floor even On the cheapest $20 tent six $ Cana Camp dry Will make all the difference in the world!
Personally I would just sew in a tie off point so I could stake it out the fly better. But as is, yes that is an issue. If this is water tight, I will be adding it to my collection of tents for car camping and just sewing in some tie off points. Thanks!
sew a tie out point.. capture a pebble with cord.. tie it out ... put a wioden stake in the ground leaning away from the tent drape the fly over it... get home.. put in a good size grommet with a good epoxy glue under the brass before crimping it down
@@MegaCocobaby no he's not, why should you have to do ANY work on an expensive tent yourself ? They charge you more then enough so they should get it right if they knew what they were doing !

The offset hub is smart because it makes it easy to reach versus being in the middle. Great review and honesty. This tent looks like a "lazy" man's tent who doesn't want to deal with a couple of mins for setup. I personally love my Ultra 3p, it held up to hard rain and pea size hail without a problem last weekend.
Thank you for all of your reviews, I can't tell you how much time and money you've saved me. I recently purchased a new Vista 2 and it was broken upon arrival. When I took it out of the box, the plastic dome at the top busted into three separate pieces. I was lucky enough to get a full refund as it was the last one they had in stock. It kind of threw me off that is broken since the box it was shipped in was absolutely perfect. After seeing it's weak points, decided to go ahead and spend the extra $10 to get the Mountain Ultra 2. Personally, I like the thought of the pop up tent, but I think I would much more prefer the more traditional setup like the Mountain line offers. It has the same option of the cot system if you desire to get it (and I probably will lol). The over all package does weigh a bit more, but it's 10 inches shorter in length.
Luke my vista 1 leaked!!! But Teton sent another elite rain fly with no issues!!! They are a great company!!! I’m yet to get the new rain fly out in a storm yet but I do absolutely love being off the ground in a Cot tent.
I bought a Teton Mountain Ultra 2 because of your video review of the Mountain Ultra 1. I love the Ultra 2 i had hail and heavy rain and winds one day camping and it was bone dry like water off a duck!
@Luke COULD YOU POSSIBLY PUT TOGETHER A BEST OF BUDGET GEAR LIST…. Your top picks for gear under $200 a piece. Like a go to Tent, Chair, table, cooking stove, ground fly, tarp etc? I want to put together a set up but don’t have thousands of dollars. I think a lot of us “fans/viewers” would love this. You have amazing reviews but it’s hard to narrow down a list of good gear that’s good for most seasons. Thank you if you see this comment!
I believe this tent and the smaller one person version, are designed to fit on their cots, which may account for its particular design. They also have a larger rain fly that when used on the cot will reach all the way to the ground so you have a tremendous amount of storage under your bed. If I understand it correctly the one person tent is a full 40 in wide and some people get the matching cot, get off the wet ground and have their dogs join them inside 😊😊😊
I have the Teton 1 person sport. Set up the same way, my kids use it but it's just our quick back yard or broke along for kids when we camp extra tent. It's easy to use for my kids.
Looks like a quick and easy tent to use car camping. I was thinking use a pool noodle to fix the problem with the rain fly touching the back part. But other options are better, clip and paradox. Great Review, Thanks Luke!
I have the Vista 1 and the Vista 2. The unlock lever is kind of a "hair trigger" if you bump it in the middle of the night the whole thing comes down on you. Once you pop your tent, tie off the cord or put a squeeze lock on it! Other than that, they are great!
Thanks for showing how to set the tent up...put your hand on the center disc then grab the cord and pull up on it while pushing the disc down with the other hand, then flip the lock. At minute 7:25 you inserted a picture of tarp clips, so I assume you've come up with a hack to pull the fly away from the tent body. Not sure how strong the grip is to hold the fly in high wind conditions. None-the-less, I like the tent and plan to purchase it to use on top of cots for car camping. I really like the idea of being high off the ground so I don't have to crawl in and out of my backpacking tent. I plan to keep the fly open on both doors during the night but with the doors zipped closed so the air can flow through the mesh. I might also set it up under a tarp or canopy so that if it rains I can still keep the fly open on the doors. I also like that when using with cots you don't have to be bothered with brushing the dirt off the bottom of the tent when you're ready to break camp. All in all I like the tent.
When my kids were younger we had a couple of these (not this brand) but we had similar issues w/both in that Condensation was horrid, as there was little airflow (as you noted w/this one as well) and we also got leakage around the 'umbrella' part. Easy to set up, sometimes not so easy to take down. Will be interested to see what else comes out w/this one. (I no longer have to worry about this, my kids are both hammock campers now !).
Compared to being on the ground!!! Absolutely I sleep like a baby in it! Won’t lie I’m 5’8” and my feet touch the fabric but other then that completely satisfied.

I am still raving about the FeatherStone UL Granite 2 person tent. It is a small 2 person tent, but It is is bullett proof in rain, wind and is easy to setup. I am disabled and I can set this tent up ok.
It's just incredible what beauty, what atmosphere you were able to create. This is truly a meditative experience watching you. I myself started making videos about my adventures, so I'm interested in everything. Grretings from Belarus tourist. ✌️
Good review so far Luke. I own a Lumberjack 4 tent for car camping. Here in FL with the rain it has worked great,no leaks, no condensation, and for the price $80 five yrs ago,I feel like got a steal. But if in the market for a new tent, I'm intrigued and will see part 2 of your review, but with ease of set up and size, 2 doors, for the price seems like a good tent. Also for the price, I would sew on some tabs on the fly to pull away for ventilation. I do short hikes, cpl of miles, and if 2 people for an overnight, 6,3# not the worst for me to carry.
As a car camping tent the $120 price is fantastic. The main selling point that it's easy to set up works for older guys like me with knee issues. It would be easy enough to install guy lines at the points you mentioned with tarp clips so the only question is will it stand up to stormy wet weather? I already own a Teton tent so I'm guessing it will. I look forward to you testing it out. Keep up the outstanding work you do.
Luke Thanks for showing the tarp clips. Second my 🤔.. I do like the size but I seen that tent before... I think it's a copy.. my sister's has one like that and it's scary how closely alike they are... Fast setup to.. ... It's a summer tent and light 🌧️.. only I would not be catch in during a full on Storm.. those stakes will not hold... She got the tent a Walmart for about 90 bucks and it was a four person tent.
I am going to keep bugging you about this tent. It is the Featherstone Granite 2 person tent. I bought 2 of them, setup both tents in high winds in Texas and they were amazing. Please show this tent on your site. In rain and high winds this tent rocks. Its 5 pounds, can be setup in 3 configurations, comes with a footprint and is seam sealed. I am going camping this weekend with both tents in North Texas and I have no worries about the tent standing up. If you close up the vestibule zips, the wind will not come in, the tent can handle the winds. This is a gem of a tent for the price and quality.
THANKS! Just checked the website and several UA-cam videos and it fits my wishlist exactly! Just ordered. Went with the 2P Peridot because it has a higher bathtub floor, gives me some more privacy when using without the fly.
I used to own a Black Sheep 30 second pop-up tent I bought for about $70 at Kmart when I was 12 (1988). I used that thing til about 2005 when the poles finally broke from old age. It was similar...7x7 square dome with poles already installed, hinged in the middle, and just snap the four tops into the center hub and boom, it was up. This tent seems very similar to that one. Not the lightest tent, but I miss it. So easy to put up and take down. Not the best ventilation unless the windows were open.
The brown color is fantastic. I have the Vista 1 and the quality is good for the price. At less than 5 lbs you can backpack with the Vista 1, but it's not ideal. Vista 2 is way too large and heavy. Both Vista tents can be paired with the Teton cots as well. The Vista 2 can sit atop two of their universal camp cots (I think) and then they make a larger rain fly that goes to the ground. The Vista 1 pairs with their XXL cot.
I’ve been asking you to review this tent for a while now. I’m pretty excited to see how it goes. I had the original version of this tent in a one person and it was extremely short. I’m 5’11 and laying on the ground without being on a sleeping pad my head and feet were touching both ends of the tent. On paper it seems long enough but the head and foot angle of the tent are so sharp there’s about 10 inches of unusable space. I think it’s really designed to be used with a cot because you can sink Into it and that might solve the issue which is unfortunate because not everyone wants to bring a cot. I think they made the second version of this tent longer but I’m still not convinced it’s long enough for the average height person sleeping on the ground using a 3” inflatable sleeping pad. If they solved that issue it would be a great tent for overlanding via atv!
I have the Vista 1 tent, which is the same design but smaller. I camped in light rain and stayed perfectly dry. My buddy in the cheap Bass Pro Shops hiker/biker tent did not do so well. That said, this tent is too heavy and long for backpackers and kind of small for car camping. So it's not clear who the target buyer is. Because they sell a cot to go with this, it seems the car camper who doesn't need a larger tent is the likely target. If you drive a subcompact car or a motorcycle, this might be a good choice. If you want to add the enormous Teton xxl cot that goes with it, you will need more than a motorcycle to haul it. If you occasionally backpack on a weekend trip and are a strong person on a budget, or you are not hiking far, you can backpack with the Vista 1 but I wouldn't try the Vista 2. Even with the Vista 1 at 4.6 lbs you're hauling an extra pound over better tents and it is too long to fit in your backpack so you will strap it on. That's what I did for a 27 mile AT hike over 2 days. And by the end of it I wished I had gotten something lighter and more compact. I am considering doing some car camping and looking at the Teton XXL cot to go with it. That unit is $159.99 which seems steep for a cot, but most cheaper cots are too small to accommodate the Vista 1 tent on it. Considering one called the SlumberJack for $109.99 instead
Yep , they should have put tie outs at those 2 p look places to get the fly away from the body.....condensation and splash back with very hard rain for long time....thanks Luke....✌
I am always skeptical about pop-up tents so it will be interesting to see how it performs. It is pretty heavy but is much lighter than the Hilleberg with its inner mesh. I agree that there should be some way to pull the fly away from the tent body, but it is pretty inexpensive so, as you mentioned, it is a relatively easy/inexpensive fix.
I like the Coleman Swagger 3P. It was $200, but very easy to set up (less than 1 min) with telescopic poles already attached and I believe it will last much longer than a pop-up.
How about using plastic clamp tie-outs till they get it right! Thanks again Brother you do great things for all of us. Also, you help us keep from going broke and having to test ourselves.
Hi Luke..., Excellent video and very informative, and thank you for sharing the video... I am seriously thinking about this tent and other Teton Sports camping products... Mike in Montana :)
Another great review. Although the way the tent collapsed when taken down caused concerned for a pinch point. Seemed like a lot of tension being released too quickly. looking forward to the rain test.
You should consider reviewing the complete car camping sleep kit that includes the Vista tent. I tried it and it's the best camp sleep j have had yet. I have Teton Sports Vista 1 tent Teton Sports XXL camping pad Cabela's outfitter XXL cot (85x40), same unit as the Teton Sports XXL cot Then they sell a full length rain fly that goes with it. I have yet to purchase that, but for camping in the rain with the city + tent combo, it's required
I have the 1 person tent. To fix the rainfly against the body I added 3 clips to the bottom to pull away and add more air flow. The vista's needs vents bad is my only real complaint and weight
I got the vista 1 a few months back, was wondering how I could fix the rain fly situation. Thanks for the tip on the tarp clips! I'll have to try that. Hopefully they improve the design!
Slumit and khyam have been making this type of tent for years and also both makers tents go up as one (inner and fly) so even quicker than this Teton model.😊
Thanks for looking into Teton stuff; I've had a few pieces including the Vista 1 and am happy to see your thoughts on the brand. I would love to see you review the Vista 1 with the cot and camp pad since they sell it as a set and it all kind of "goes together." I've never used my Vista 1 in the rain but I'm particularly worried about how the standard rainfly seems like it would lead to water pooling between the cot and tent, necessitating the elite rainfly. I 'd love to see you give this set of products a look!
G'day Luke, I like it, but don't love it. The obvious fly issue aside; for stationary car camping you can afford to go bigger and heavier, this one only makes sense for touring IMO, where constant set up and take down is required. Cheers Duke.
Interesting that many tent manufactures can miss certain details such as the missing fly loops to provide better ventilation. The additional fly loops would have been very inexpensive to add which would have made this good tent into a better tent. Not sure what happens in the design review of these products to miss these details.
Beware using those clamps you showed at the end, I used them ONCE, they ripped the tent when the wind picked up, weight isnt so bad, look s a good tent for novices on a summer trip where there wont be much rain, possibly a kayak trip, in the UK, no many of those and for Wild Camping I always want something that has the option of outer first, to put up in the rain.
Hey Luke - I've been using the TETON Vista 1 & 2 for over 4 years and they are great tents for the price. Here's a video I made a few weeks ago in the Vista 2 ua-cam.com/video/_MI3NRle7yA/v-deo.html - I've camped in the Canadian winter down to -30c in snow with these tents. They are best with the cot accessory (great for limited mobility folk) and the Elite fly - Best wishes Michael
It seems like a good product for car camping. I’m surprised about the issue you’ve mentioned but also not a deal breaker as easily fixable. Hopefully. Saying that, I’ve seen designs that require the user to lift the tent from inside. They were harder to set up more sturdy. Maybe too sturdy for my needs :) Question: how much time would be saved in comparison to ordinary “quick “ to set up tent?
I have the full setup with the cot and the elite rainfly, I've never had any leaks but condensation has been a problem when fully closed. Also it's very hard to close the elite rainfly when sitting in the tent on the cot. Any more questions about it I'll gladly answer. The full setup cost about 370$.
Definitely weird that Teton Sports did not sew a loop on each side of the fly. It would only take a few seconds to do it. A person could definitely sew one on, but they should have sewn loops on the fly. Otherwise, it does look like an easy set-up for car camping. Looking forward to the rain test night.
Excellent review, I'm sold! But I see this tent is made with taffeta, rather than nylon/polyester, and I'm not finding any seam-sealer for that particular material. None of the descriptions say their sealant works on taffeta. Nor do I get any helpful results when I google "tent seam sealer taffeta." So can you recommend a brand or two that does? Thanks!
Have your heard of Kelty? If not, could you check out the Kelty Grand Mesa 2? Could you also check the REI Co-Op Groundbreaker 2 and Browning Echo 2 backpacking tent? Just a few budget tents I recently found.
That’s a simple fix just put a third tarp clip on the fly where it’s missing it’ll work perfectly and it will not alter The original design for warranty purposes
I can’t sleep on the ground any longer. I’m really interested in this tent on the cots. Is it feasible for overlanding and other car camping. I’d love to get your thoughts.
Thank you for all the great videos. They have helped push me to get outdoors. I have to ask how did you go about finding your land to buy? Any tips or advice?

I agree 5’8” and I touch both ends in my vista 1
The Featherstone comes with high quality stakes. The did not skimp on anything. Now its up to you to get one and test it out!
Looks Like a good motorcycle camping tent
I have one Teton pop up tent. Single person yellow
Works great 😊
Luke, looking forward to you testing the tent in the rain . I like the quick set up.⛺️
Thanks!
Thank you very much for the support Roger.

@Timothy Mckee Well THAT'S using your noodle!
Thanks Luke; I think if using a car camping tent I would choose one that I could stand up in, put a table and chairs in.
I really would like to see further reviews on this tent
Thanks for doing some car camping stuff. :)
You should consider reviewing the complete car camping sleep kit that includes the Vista tent.
I tried it and it's the best camp sleep j have had yet.
I have
Teton Sports Vista 1 tent
Teton Sports XXL camping pad
Cabela's outfitter XXL cot (85x40), same unit as the Teton Sports XXL cot
Then they sell a full length rain fly that goes with it. I have yet to purchase that, but for camping in the rain with the city + tent combo, it's required
Great tent for parents to get a couple for kids on car camping trips
I have the 1 person tent. To fix the rainfly against the body I added 3 clips to the bottom to pull away and add more air flow. The vista's needs vents bad is my only real complaint and weight
I had one similar to this in the USFS. Lasted over 20 years.
👍 Looks like a modern version of the Black Stump instant tents that were around here in Aus.
Nice tent can't wait to see more test like waterproof and stuff. You rock
Just a thought. Could possibly use tarp clips with short pieces of cordage to pull the ends of the fly away from the body for ventilation.
Add a grommet to the fly, available at any hardware, to provide a place to tie line and pull it out for ventilation.
G'day Luke, I like it, but don't love it. The obvious fly issue aside; for stationary car camping you can afford to go bigger and heavier, this one only makes sense for touring IMO, where constant set up and take down is required. Cheers Duke.
Luke the tent you just show me I wouldn't sleep in that tent without air flow
Love your gear reviews I wish you would check out the Crua Duo maxx I recently bought one waiting for cooler weather to field test it
Can't wait to see the test night.
Have you reviewed any of the Kodiak Canvas tents? I love mine, and will be using it again tomorrow.
Excellent information. Very helpful
I have the one person version took it to the devil’s river in Texas it was so hot do to such fine mess and minimal ventilation
Interesting that many tent manufactures can miss certain details such as the missing fly loops to provide better ventilation. The additional fly loops would have been very inexpensive to add which would have made this good tent into a better tent. Not sure what happens in the design review of these products to miss these details.
I will add I've never had water get inside even in heavy downpours. I left it in my yard for 3 days of rain, Absolutely dry inside.
I have a single person version of this and i have not had any issues what so ever.
I watch all your content as well!!!
It seems like a good product for car camping. I’m surprised about the issue you’ve mentioned but also not a deal breaker as easily fixable. Hopefully.
Saying that, I’ve seen designs that require the user to lift the tent from inside. They were harder to set up more sturdy. Maybe too sturdy for my needs :)
Question: how much time would be saved in comparison to ordinary “quick “ to set up tent?
It would make a great tent for my parents.
It would be perfect if they made those changes you suggested for airflow!
Looks amazing, but a little disappointing fly issue. I hope it turns out to be rain proof. The set up/take down is so simple!
I have the full setup with the cot and the elite rainfly, I've never had any leaks but condensation has been a problem when fully closed. Also it's very hard to close the elite rainfly when sitting in the tent on the cot. Any more questions about it I'll gladly answer. The full setup cost about 370$.
Plop a marble behind the fly on that side, tie around it and you'll be able to pull it out from the body a bit.
Yup looks like a good one for car camping
A solution for a problem that doesn't exist. Nifty though.
GOOD TO C U BRO.... I LIKE THIS TENT..... 💯👊💯
Thanks luke👍
If i wasn't returning it i'd sew on two pullout loop to fix that issue for both sides instead of a clip.
It's designed like an umbrella. Never seen one of these before!!
I have three mountain ultra s. Absolutely love them except for he color, mine are called gray bu5 they are bright white, not very stealth
And for the price the backpacks are great!
You can fix that easy enough by sewing some tie offs on the fly. Hows the one person tent. im looking for a one person tent.
Definitely weird that Teton Sports did not sew a loop on each side of the fly. It would only take a few seconds to do it. A person could definitely sew one on, but they should have sewn loops on the fly. Otherwise, it does look like an easy set-up for car camping. Looking forward to the rain test night.
Reall enjoyed Luke thank you!!
Pretty cool design.
I'll hold my thoughts until further reviews
Excellent review, I'm sold! But I see this tent is made with taffeta, rather than nylon/polyester, and I'm not finding any seam-sealer for that particular material. None of the descriptions say their sealant works on taffeta. Nor do I get any helpful results when I google "tent seam sealer taffeta." So can you recommend a brand or two that does? Thanks!
How well will a tent like this hold up to long term set up? Will sunlight (UV) degrade the fabric? Thanks.
When you planning on trying Hannah tents/gear?
If ur in a hurry to beat the rain that would be great
I can’t sleep on the ground any longer. I’m really interested in this tent on the cots. Is it feasible for overlanding and other car camping. I’d love to get your thoughts.
Thank you for all the great videos. They have helped push me to get outdoors. I have to ask how did you go about finding your land to buy? Any tips or advice?
great info, keep safe
