    These sounds are some of my oldest memories.
    My father had me on job sites at all phases of construction from about 4yo on.
    For me, now, doing drywall work is very cathartic.

    Flattening the mud is the most satisfying part. Would love a really close-in, shallow angle, slow-mo shots of this.

    Love this! I learned to love doing drywall and this reminds me why. There is nothing better than a skim coat to blend old and new drywall. It makes old drywall look new again.

    i was an electrician for many years and i found weirdly at certain points during the day i would be in some sort of trance . id be up on the lift working on pipes and id slowly just start kneeling down and my spine felt like it was buzzing, It took me a while to figure out that it was the drywall finishers like you who were causing it and its the sound of the scraping against the pan and the smoothing the mud out that were the triggers for me .I had no idea what asmr was at that point but i sure do now and it is deeply powerful if you find the right trigger for you

    I found it very relaxing. Not entirely ASMR, but it has that focused, intentional pace to it. It was also super great to just get a visual guide, I know the more I see the more I learn, even if it's just by forcing myself to really -look- for things you're previous explained. Thanks for posting!

    Im not a big ASMR person, but I did enjoy just sitting back and watching the drywalling process with all the sights and sounds that come with it.
    I think you should put up a video like this every once in a while.

    been watching/listening to various asmr's for nearly a decade and the drywall ones are rare for some reason. When I saw you made this video I knew it would be a good one and yes it was remarkably relaxing. One thing (and I know it is not the funnest part) but the sanding aspect is a huge one i.e. really good; also for masonry a trowel over wet cement is awesome too. thanks and happy 500k in 2023 ;)

    Thank you for clarifying why and what was going on with that roller. I had to back the video up and show my husband who spent many years in the builder and handyman field to ask him if he'd ever seen that before and he hadn't either. At first I thought maybe you were going for a super unique way of texturing the wall. 😂 But the air explanation makes sense.

    I’ve been working on fixing and skimming my townhouse walls so I can paint. Since finding your videos, I’ve gotten so much better at everything drywall related! Thank you! I definitely a DIYer and slow (and short - 5’ 1 1/2” definitely makes it tricky!) so I’m only able to do sections at a time. Out of curiosity - do you clean the roller you use for rolling the mud on the wall after sessions? Or if you just wrap it, will it keep from getting dried out and crusty? I’ve been cleaning the rollers each time, but didn’t know if there was a better way.

    • @timort2260
      @timort2260 2 роки тому +3

      Go buy some press and seal. It's a glad product most big stores gave it but I wrap rollers and brushes with that and can get 30 days without cleaning my roller. That's with paint so mud should be about the same. Though generally i only do this for the life of a job so a week or two but works great for me.

    ASMR aspect is great. And for absorbing technique from watching over and over, even better. It"s how a lot of us learn. Loved the sounds. Even the steel on steel which I thought would be jarring at first ended up teaching the rhythm. A quiet voiceover on key learning points would be ok (the Dashner furniture restoration guy's volume and calm style that doesn't mess with the ASMR works for me). Like others said, occasional closeups of key things to see and how it should look could be good. Been watching all your videos as I get ready to hang and finish a 1300 SF house. Wouldn't have even thought to do it myself without your videos. Thank you!

  • @mikeregan3174
    @mikeregan3174 2 роки тому

    2 things - the sound of mud being spread, if it is a dry mix, has a slight squishing sound. Close up on the visual and close up on the sound for this one. And do it slowly. Second thing, uise the 24" (widest you have). Do the same as today. Roll on a thin layer that looks super bumpy, Then do a wide - one pass - smooth. So take chaos and turn it into order in a single pass. Both of these would need to be done purposefully. So for the first one, it would need to be a prepared set p specifically for capturing the sound. Second one, you could - over the course of a couple weeks - pick the top 10 - 15 times you did a wide one pass smooth. Them assemble those in a seperate video. Outside of editing the video - which I know takes a lot of time - there would be no need to do anything different - set up wise.
    Mike out!
