What vibrant colors and such a variety!! 🌈 I've not seen this type of medium other than in your background video. I think I was confused by them. This video makes it so much more clear. Thank you!!🤗
Neocolor IIs are a pleasure to use and to look at, and while they are pricey, they make up for the high cost with their longevity, as you don't need to lay down much pigment for strong color payoff. They are semi-opaque when laid down thickly, almost like gouache paint, but thin layers can be made to look identical to watercolor washes.
So fun to watch you with these neocolor 11s!! They really are gorgeous. I don't have them but id like to see how You use them. I know you will figure out every technique possible with the Neocolors! haha! Have a fabulous day!... oh i forgot, congratulations on 10K subscribers!!!
Hi Pamela, thanks for this video. I bought the 30 set and used them to do a background on one of the Maria Trolle books, and I fear I wreaked the page, all streaky and patchy,so then tried to make some improvement with soft pastels, not to mention the buckling of the paper. I Certainly need more practice with them. I must go back and have a look at the video you made using them, 💖
They are wonderful. I have been playing around with them all evening (it's been hours). I did my own drawing and added color. I am having so much fun with them. Enjoy yours! The 84 set is so much fun, but remember you can blend to make so many colors with that 30 set.
@@PamelasPassionforPencils I'm torn between biting the bullet for the 84 or buying some open stock. I do a lot of portraits and would like more skin tones, etc. But my next big purchase will be Derwent Lightfast and the Luminance portrait set as I am working on my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren's portraits. And over the almost 40 years I've learned to mix what I need mostly with the 30 set.
Loved watching this video thank you Pamela I have these but only used them once when following your video for the background on the perfume bottles So yes I would love to see more please
These crayons are the one art supply that I want to buy whenever I see them because they just look so beautiful, but I've had a smaller set and wasn't able to find a way to use them. I think a lot of people feel this way because very rarely do the neocolors that people show in videos look used. Your small set absolutely is an exception here. Not judging anyone because that's exactly how it was for me. Just an observation that I've made.
They look so beautiful 😍 I've seen these but never knew what they were. How cool! Aubergine is what we call eggplant in the UK 😊 it my favourite colour and the dominant colour in my bedroom. I need that malachite green shade! 😍 will be adding that and a few others to my next Cult Pen order. I cant wait to see how you use them. A tutorial.would be lovely!
My first 4 colors were Malachite Green, Indigo Blue, Prussian Blue and Aubergine. They were amazing with water for galaxies. The Indigo Blue was SO shocking when activated. It almost turned a deep purple.
Love this ! "Neo color 2" and "Faber Castell Albrecht Dürer Watercolor pencil" are the best. They melt away even better then inktense. I didn't have Caran d'ache Museum Aquarelle. It is said that they are this gold too. (They are so expensive and I have exellent Watercolourpencil, but I am curious.)
The beautiful Caran d’Ache are identical so the stickers are the names of the different sets so you can identify the contents without having to open the box. 😊
I love my 40 set. I cut a chunk off and put into full paint pans with magnets and in a tin. With prices remember shipping at Blick is free at 45.00. I got mine from Blick. I love open stock so have most colors now. Funny thing is there aren't pigment numbers and numbers are in order.
I bought open stock first hoping they would be better than my Gelatos and Portfolio Oil Pastels. Wowzers!! They were amazing. My first 4 colors were Malachite Green, Indigo Blue, Prussian Blue and Aubergine. They were amazing with water for galaxies. The Indigo Blue was SO shocking when activated. It almost turned a deep purple. I bought 5 more yesterday and will keep buying them until I get them all.
I was buying the Neocolor 2's from open stock and went back to pick up a few more. I "discovered " 😉 I liked them all! Blick's, love that store, had them on sale, so I ordered the 84 set. It was on backorder. But it's Blick's, so I could still order it at the sale price! Caran d'ache had discontinued their 126 piece set and I found one on Ebay and ordered it! Thinking I would cancel my Blick order, but it arrived much earlier than promised. I couldn't ask them, in good conscience, to take them back. I'm still excited by the beauty of them all.🙃 I guess they take me back to my childhood and I remember the amazing feeling I had when getting and holding the new and bigger box of crayola crayons, my first art supply. I wish you an amazing, incredible and exciting experience with your neocolor 2's. From my studio to yours, Fran
Thanks for the review and swatching. I've seen people use these for backgrounds especially in the Swedish books like Hannah Karlson, Maria Trolle, and Klara Markova. I've also seen them used beautifully in Fragile World. I would love to know what other coloring books they'll work in. Not sure about Johanna Basford books. I once drop some water on a page in Worlds of Flowers and it seems like it dissolved/destroyed that spot of the paper.
What would happen if you blended the dry on top of dry before you blended together? I’m thinking of sky backgrounds for example the colors in the sky when there is a rising sun.
I got these, the 84 set, this past week. So far I like them. Haven’t figured out if lower layers, once dry, will rehydrate and blend with top layers or do the bottom layers remain untouched like Inktense. Do you know?
When I had promised to myself that I was not gonna spend more money in coloring supplies because I have everything I could you in my lifetime. Then I watched this video 😭😭😭 I want them all 😭
Nope I wasn't going to buy them, my Sargeants were good enough. HA! You are such an evil enabler of coloring supplies!!! Off to put them in my cart. 😂😂😂😂😂 P.S. Color It glitter gel pens arrived yesterday. Sigh💖💎🌈
@@PamelasPassionforPencils of course I use them. Not in a position to buy and not use, plus I dislike buying to have just because everyone else has it. Just not practical.. Please know I am teasing you when I call you the "evil enabler" 💖😂🌈
@@PamelasPassionforPencils I’m sorry, the one at the end I saw about the princesses. I was Loki g for a coloring book, like world of flowers or something like that. Or can you use water color pencils in Eiry or Johana Basford books?
I laughed out loud when you said that green didn't look like gold to you. My first thought was why not?! That's the same color your finger turns when you wear fake gold! 🤣
The next time you need to put supplies into color order and swatch would it be possible for you to record that process from start to end and record your thought process out loud so maybe we could learn how to do it. I’m serious I need to hear what goes through your head as you’re sorting the colors. I just can’t sort them right to save my life and it’s affecting my ability to choose good colors for shading and highlighting. I’m either to close in value or way to far apart.
She has a few videos of this already. I think she did it with the Artezas pencils. She starts with her white when sorting them and goes into yellow instead of the normal ROYGBIV. Idk if this is helpful info but definitely recommend those videos.
Love it. Beautiful. Can’t wait to see what you colour. Yes, I would love to see how you use them.

You're gonna love Neocolors. When I got them I was so excited and they are so fun! Sadly, I haven't used mine as much as I would like.
I have a 30 set that was a gift in 1984. Some are short now and a couple broken but they are so easy to use. I love mine. I may have to order the 84.

A few years ago there was a manufacturing issue with the silver metallic and it didn't work for people.
Thank you for letting us know. I was wondering why my impression of the metallics were different from what others reported.
Will have to wait a few months, but they would be great for background coloring in wide spaces. Can they be sharpened?
I have sharpened mine very carefully and only with a handheld sharpener.
@@PamelasPassionforPencils thanks. I planned on getting a handheld sharpener anyways for travel. Not packing my electric sharpener.
Thank you. Do you know of some coloring books that are already on water color paper?
I showed you one in this video. Did you see that part? You can check the time stamps on the video for that part. 😀
