I love the two wheel action but this side car stuff is phenomenal. Just plain phenomenal. The guy on the side car is probably the most brave of the two on the vehicle... to be hopping around on turns just to keep the trike from tilting takes more cojones than the average guy. Man... I say that and I have to digress... all those guys, from the two wheel action to the side car action... they're all gutsy guys for sure. I won't belittle any of them. To go that fast through towns,.side roads and straight aways.... I have no workds. I've had my CBR hitting 150mph and it's thrilling but I do it on straightaways and that isn't the same as what these guys do... simply phenomenal.
This is my first time watching the sidecars, and I'm incredibly impressed. The teamwork involved is really something, and I had no idea they were this quick. Amazing stuff.
Love to go and watch the racing on the Isle of Man TT ,it's on my bucket list . especially like the side car . The world's oldest motor race ,long may it continue . Ok
Kennith Thomas when did it begin? I know it's been around a long long time, but wonder if there was any car racing that happened before that. Not doubting, just curious!
The first tt race was 1907 when they tried to organise a race in England but were denied so the isle of man government basically said get ya asses over here and it's ran ever since. The course has changed 3 times but it has run on it's current nearly 38 mile lap for over 100 years.
Tahoe here, we have up hill sidecar races on highway 40 from Donner lake to the top of Donner pass, it's about 7 miles and gains about 1500 ft of elevation or so to the finish. From the lake it's about a mile up to the first hairpin which has a 20 mph. speed sign and they hit it at about 130. These guys are a different breed

Not mentioned in the video, but Ian Bell, seen at 1:45 (he's the rider, the passenger is his son Carl) was killed in a crash during this race. Ian was a great rider and a regular at the TT (he even bagged a win at the 2003 TT). His son Carl was thankfully uninjured in the crash. RIP Ian.
This is a just an excerpt from the 2nd race of 3 Wheeling the movie. Dwight Beare also tragically lost his life during the first race. Both Ian & Dwight are memorialised in the full movie.
Thats sad dude. Atleast the man passed doing what he loved, I just cant help but have a dimmed excitement for this sport after hearing that. I am for example in love with Rally, GT3, F1 you name it, but even in huge crashes there the safety levels have really reached high standards nowadays and deaths or serious injuries rarely occur, to have two deaths in one race must be a blemish on the sport in some way.
I know Im asking randomly but does anyone know of a method to get back into an Instagram account? I was dumb lost the account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me!
@Nova Rowen Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@@WHELDON74 I think they limit the engine class on the island to 600cc because of speed - there is a 1000cc class for chairs on closed race circuits - the same crews (Birchall brothers, Dave Molyneux etc) race both classes, but I think the extra speed of 1 litre sidecars around the TT circuit would be much higher, with far more danger if anything goes wrong - as it is they wring every ounce out those junior class powerplants, and tghey don't hang about either - so its more about aerodynamics, handling, weight distribution, grip and cornering rather than just brute power
It's been over twenty years since I rode my road going outfit, which took me all over the SW of England. I even went to the Island and rode the course when it was open to the public, so I know what it takes to handle an outfit at road legal speeds. The best part, was hearing the outfit go down through the box on the mountain , take the left hander and hear it power the long straight visualising the passenger tucking him self down in the chair; and no, F1 doesn't hold a candle to the Island, or side car racing.
This is absolutely my favourite form of motor racing, with rallycross a close second. Anything else a very distant third... ...such a shame there is so little of it on the telly, just dull F1 and the like. Ooo, maybe F1 qualifying could be two sidecar races where teammates take it in turns to be driver and passenger - it would be much less dull.
You see folks riding motorcycles in TT and you think you ve seen it all. Then you find out that also sidecars race there, and folks sign up to be "passenger". It's death wish.
These are F2 side cars with 600cc engines that sound even better in person. Their are F1 side cars but they are not allowed to race at the TT and they’ll do 170-180mph
The weight of his balls alone should hold the back tire down. You have to be insane to be that guy. Could you imagine trying to get life insurance...Sir, what do you do for a living? Well Umm, how do I put it,

I get more of the race watching UA-cam videos. That being said I'm still going to the TTs in 2020 to watch em blow by me at 160+mph. Screw it.

All need to visit the TT , brilliant and visitors from around the world!
This is just beautifully shot, absolutely great job by all the crew and everyone involved, wow! I think I may have found my sport!!

The only "music" I want to hear on a video like this is the engines. You can keep the faux rock gash thanks.
I figured since it’s the seniors race they would be going 25 MPH with their left turn signal on through the whole course.

What size engines do they use in the sidecar racing nowadays ?
600 cc. 4 stroke or 350cc. 2 stroke.
