Worked Miller park grounds crew. 1. they need to use a broom to sweep loose impediments from the clay underneath. 2. sprinkle a tiny bit of water on clay to get it to adhere to the new clay. 3 new clay and tamp. 4. rake the loose dirt back over. They seem to have missed the water part and the broom, and when you leave the loose dirt under the clay and try to tamp it down it doesn't adhere well. Sorry, end of rant.
This reminds of one sumo stream I watched a few years back, around the time that Harumafuji became a _yokozuna_. Following a break in proceedings, it took several _yobidashi_ around half an hour to fix the corner of the _dohyo_ under the white tassel of the overhanging shrine roof.
Does no one in this comment section realize that that giant piece of clay dirt is a hazard to the pitcher if he jumps out of the way and cuts himself? Do you not see the reasoning behind why?
packisbetter90 as a Colorado native I can virtually guarantee freeze thaw. The same way potholes happen here. Water got in a void in the mound which expanded as it froze then thawed out creating a bigger void.
Now I love baseball but the one thing that I just can't stand are some of the rules. Things like this. Stopping a game to fill a one inch deep hole in the ground.
This ground crew is horrible. The first time they came out one guy was drinking a soda that he refused to put down to do his job and they did absolutely nothing. Take a look at the Yankee crew fixing the mound and you will see how these guys are the worst.

"Get over it!" "Let's go!"
Respect to that gentleman for speaking for the rest of us.
I was waiting for the ump to make the dramatic ejection of the lump of clay. I'm sure the clay would've responded in blob language.
Greg Gibson the home plate umpire?
Fred Ronald King Jr I
Ian Corkhill: and the groundscrew celebrate in their dugout.
The d-backs coach has some really cool shoes
0:21 GET OVER IT LMAO😂
Sports Guy13 LOL
Sports Guy13
They play “Hole in the Earth” when a chunk of the mound comes loose...
Maybe the guys in the sound crew should try comedy. Might be their calling.
Anyone not gonna point out how he said "I like how the players are staying away from the dirt like its gonna bite em" Classic XD
....sure looked to me like the ump was going to eject that ariz player for " touching " that dirt....a clear union violation......
2:42 MY DUDE WEARING JORDANS
They not retros tho lol
This wouldn't of happened if Greg Gibson the home plate umpire motioning to both players when the diamondbacks where exited
Scooter Is lit Don't forget, the Dodgers also have to celebrate

I was at that game and every one around me was yelling boo boo get over it and the me like (d-backs) fan shut up cause I could see the mound destroyed
Player Lol who won?
CrossyChicken the Rockies won
1:39 I like how the groundskeeper works with one hand while drinking a coke in the other, like he's barbequing.
It was a cup of water to wet the clay.
anybody know what kind of shoes those are?
If an ump had tried to eject the clay, the clay would've literally got up in his face!
hahahahahahahah
Lol I was dying at the guy who yelled GET OVER IT

If only Greg Gibson, the home plate umpire, had motioned to the pitcher's mound.
DBack jersey is pretty fire ngl
I like how they bring the manager out to roen his expensive shoes
I bet you they did not touch it because they thought it was a lizard or something
Me when I get dirt on my new shoes
Well you don't want to roll an ankle...
How the fuck did it get ripped up like that?
packisbetter90 as a Colorado native I can virtually guarantee freeze thaw. The same way potholes happen here. Water got in a void in the mound which expanded as it froze then thawed out creating a bigger void.
First it was a chunk on the mound then some sweet jordons
They uploaded this clip because the MLB App.
"massive"
Interesting
Every grounds crew does the "best job". I wonder who is actually the worst lol.
paul goldschmidt
in the minors & little league you're not being paid hundreds of thousands or millions of $$$$. not ruining my legs/arm/career for a hole.
you get paid in the minors.
N00B_Fryer _ up to 3000 a month.
The fans are so dumb. They wouldn't be booing if it was a Rockies pitcher requesting the same thing.
It's not even near where the pitcher will actually throwing, just put it back and keep going...
Evan Griebel it was thats the landing zone
I wouldn't call this massive
DEFTONES
Now I love baseball but the one thing that I just can't stand are some of the rules. Things like this. Stopping a game to fill a one inch deep hole in the ground.
You do realize that hole is right in front of the mound, and one wrong step by the pitcher could lead to a season ending injury.
fired
0:20
Atleast San Diego still has the best fields crew
Looks like a bunch of government employees
At :20 a man yells "get over it!"
