Rather than trying to hold the short rounded end of the hart for bandsawing, why not hold it by the hollowed end which can be made as long as needed and then just hold it against the standard sliding miter with fingers no where near the blade?
Always more possibilities. But then I'd have to bore a much deeper hole in the longer spindle.Alan
