This fits in with your “Sunny’s mom was a Unicorn” theory. I honestly think that you’re on to something. And I hope that the follow up tv series comes close if not dead on to this idea.

I'm still hoping that the G5 series will explain what happened to both of Sunny's parents...but if that cutie mark did have some kind of connection to Sunny's mother it would definitely be interesting!
I think one great idea for an episode is have it that Sunny’s mother left her and Argyle long ago but she comes back to try and reconcile with Sunny. It would be pretty much like Grand Pear in “The Perfect Pear” where he up and left his own daughter only to return long after his said daughter and son in law were dead and gone to make amends with his grandchildren.
Actually maybe Sunny’s mom HAD to give her up cause she was a unicorn who gave birth to an earth unicorn in a unicorn town so she had to give her to Argyle and have hi raise her alone

Anywows, that vivid notion and rational belief, pertaining to Sunny's anonymous Ma is very hypothetical, in a very beneficial way, so no sheer skepticism about that.
În my theory is that sunny is the daughter of twilight sparkle and she had to give her to Argyle cuz it was her destiny and some evil forse was traing to destroy her and twilight (cuz she might be trapt somewhere in equestria and i hope it will be in the series)
Sunny's mother inspiring Argyle to become the pony we know him as does makes a lot of sense. But why would Argyle not tell Sunny about this? Unless the reason why Argyle has the Earth Pony Crystal, was because he didn't have it in the first place. It wasn't his as Sunny's mother probably had it at some point until she passed away and before she did she passed it to Argyle. I can imagine Sunny was still very young when it happened. Argyle didn't want to take the responsibility as he thinks he can't do it without her but Sunny's mother was telling Argyle to remember what they learned together and pass it down to their daughter Sunny. Argyle never told Sunny about this or the crystal as he promised to his lover that Sunny must discover it for herself. This is why when Argyle "passed away" and Sunny is so devoted to fixing the problem which eventually leads her to discover the crystal as her dad planted it there as Argyle knew his time was eventually coming. Everything is all coming together now.
Edit: I fixed the errors and now it's clean and fully understandable.
Maybe her mom had to give her up because she was a different species than her daughter.

Perhaps society didn’t like a unicorn being with a earth pony which then lead to the hatred for them. Which has been like that ever since. Explaining the whole fillies learning about Equestria’s history in class make even more sense about what they were told and need to know.

now that I think about it, Sunny’s mom was never even mentioned in the movie. there could be a possibility they’re probably saving her for the show. fingers crossed 🤞
There were A LOT of parents not mentioned in the movie, including Zipp's and Pipp's father, Izzy's entire family, even Sprout's father. There seems to be too many single-parent families in G5 Equestria, perhaps there's more to it than just the movie being too short to introduce too many characters.
Interesting idea, but me and my sister believe that Argyle and Sunny are related to Twilight in some way. One reason we believe this is that Argyle has things like Grogars bell and a feather of Twilights. These are things that not just anypony would be able to find. When you add in Argyles mane having the same stripe that Twilight had and his original color from the concept art, it makes sense.
I agree. Having one of Twilight’s feathers isn’t something you just go out and find. That’s something resembling a family heirloom! If it weren’t for that I would think MAYBE he could have found the other articles but the feather…. There’s also his response to Philis about his work: “it’s research.” That sounds a bit Twilightesk to me.

That means if Argyle still belived Pegasi & Unicorns to be evil, Sunny would have maybe acted like all the other ponies of Mare Time Bay when she meets Izzy for the first time, running away to hide.

I love this theory but I personally think the reason Argyle most likely knew Pegasi and Unicorns weren’t dangerous and knew all that history is because he’s was a historian or archeologists of some kind. Because it’s obvious he’s done A LOT of research and their house is FILLED with historical objects. Perhaps meeting and falling in love with a unicorn or pegasus, or being related to one himself, is what sparked his interest to know more about all the species?

Another factor to think about. What if Sunny Starscout's mother could also be a Pegasus. There were no clues in the new movie about Sunny's mother's identity. Could the Hoofheart Cutie Mark represent the phrase Hoof to Heart? And could Sunny's mother be a Pegasus or a Unicorn that could have been descended from Princess Twilight. And that descendant either be Pegasus or Unicorn met up with Argle who has the same belief about Friendship. And fell in love with one another. But the mother had to go back to either Zephyr Heights or Bridlewood. And what if it was Sunny Starscout's destiny to reunite all 3 Tribes of Ponies and bring back the magic and restore the Harmony and Friendship. Thus restoring Equestria to it once was before the collapse. Maybe just maybe whoever Sunny's mom is can now be with her daughter. Amd help and her friends restoring Harmony and Friendship like how it was to be. That's my take. And Sunny being transformed into an Alicorn. Her Alicorn form could eventually grow more solid. And Queen Haven would be the only Royalty to give Sunny a title for her Alicorn form. Would Sunny's title be Alicorn of Harmony, Friendship, Unity, or Peace. Hope this helps.
I actually think it’s Argyle that’s related to Twilight based on his coloring and the fact he has one of Twilight’s feathers. Although the mother could have given that to him.

Something I had not thought of Argyle being related to Princess Twilight. Although I think all our questions remains. One of those is who is Sunny Starscout's mother. Is her mother am Earth Pony like her and her father, or was she a Pegasus or Unicorn? I can understand if her mother was a Pegasus or Unicorn Pony. Since all 3 Tribes feared each other after the collapse of everything Princess Twilight and her friends accomplished. Then Sunny reunified all 3 Tribes back as friends as it was supposed to be. Yet still no identity to Sunny's mother. Or what type of pony her mother was. And another of my questions was about Sunny's Alicorn title. Will be Alicorn of Harmony, Friendship, Unity, or Peace?I mean Celestia was Princess of the Day since she raises the sun. Luna was the Alicorn of the night and guardian of dreams in a way. Cadence was the Princess of Love, and Twilight the Princess of Friendship. Plus Flurry Heart who was born an Alicorn. Now makes wonder what was Flurry Heart's title as an Alicorn Princess. I believe Starlight should've been made an Alicorn that would've been interesting.
@@ashleyspitzer6672 I’m curious to see if Sunny’s wings and horn are permanent. If they are I’m not sure what she would be Princess of if anything. The alicorn monarchy is gone at this point. Also, one complaint I had about the movie is that we don’t know what Sunny’s special talent is, or any of her interests for that matter. Usually a pony’s special talent is related to what they are Princess of: Celestia = day Luna = night. Cadance= love. Twilight = Magic (friendship is magic) 😏 so I have no idea if/what/will Sunny be a Princess. We will have to wait and see.

Unrelated: a lot of people have made the connections to Sunny being twilight and Izzy being pinkie in the new series (which makes sense) but if we look into their names we have some references to princess celestia and princess Luna as sunny’s name is SUNNY and izzy’s full name is izzy MOONbow :] idk just thought that was interesting

Cus, Phyllis even said to Argyle that (cant remember the exact quote but said that..) she didnt like what he had become / he was better before.. meaning that Argyle was brainwashed just like all of the other Earth Ponies. But, the mom couldve helped Argyle to see the reality of things about the Pegasi and Unicorns!
But, what happened to her? What happened to the mom?
I am suggesting that an Earth Pony killed the mom cus she didnt want to join them and be brainwashed as well! I mean, the Earth Ponies are known to be jerks to the Unicorns.. there must be a reason for it. It can also make sense if the mom was a Unicorn! Cus if an Earth Pony killed a loving Unicorn, the Unicorns would have much hatred towards the Earth Ponies and call them dangerous!

Remember the old concept art of Twilight being a earth pony? What if instead of Twilight, they planned it to be Sunnys mom who turns out be a earth pony magician. And the certain gimmicks that were exploited by Phyllis, (which is an ironic coincidence cause my correlated Aunt is named Phyllis, and I've empirically witnessed that distinctive name utilized in the Lego Batman Movie (2017, which is the mutual year MLP: the movie was exclusively debuted in theaters) and Up (2009) as well too, that which I've remotely conveyed) was rather futile, cockamamie, and rather inconceivable.

Fun theory I think you should look into!: We know the elements of harmony are related in SOME way, as the main six's elements were variants of the pillars. (Sorcery -> magic). And most people relate Pipp to Rarity and Izzy to Pinkie, but I actually think Izzy might be related to Rarity, and her element of creativity is derived from Rarity, afterall that was Rarity's original element before Hasbro changed it. Also Izzy really enjoys crafting things for her friends, helping her friends, and has an affinity for crystals and various sparkly things which seems to tye closer with Beauty and Generosity than Laughter.
I have a theory about Izzy and Sunny being sisters! They could be related because Argyle, Sunny's dad, looks like Izzy! And plus, how does he know that unicorns are nice? Well, could be because her wife is a unicorn and Izzy is her daughter, like forgotten or something.. I have another theory about Sunny's family related to Twilight's family! I mean, where did they get those stuff from the old Equestria? It should have been from Twilight's family, to their new family, they gave those things to Argyle so that they would remember! Twilight must've been known about Sunny's future, same with Argyle about Sunny! Thanks, I hope you like my theory! 💜

Why "long ago"? It couldn't have been a very long time between Sunny's mother disappearing (which could only happen after Sunny's birth) and Sunny being a very young filly.

Looking at our girls color scheme to me it seem like he might be a distant relative of Twilight sparkle and he's trying to figure out the real meaning or figure it all out for sunny his daughter to know more about the past because of him finding out that he where some can too Twilight sparkle because Twilight was a regular pony at first before she became an alicorn

I have a theory that their names may indicate their lineage. Sunny and Argyle have celestial terms in their names instead of traditional plant terms like earth ponies have. Same with Hitch. Trailblazer is a pegasus name so maybe he has pegasus blood in him. Pipp "Petals" is an earth pony name.
I also have this absured theory that Sprout is a decendant of Starlight Glimmer because Phyllis is colored like Luster Dawn and she's named after Starlight's plant baby. This means Sprout is part unicorn, specifically Starlight's genes. Its why he's like season 5 Starlight and is like Sunburst with mom issues. Too many coincidences.

This concept may explain Argyle's absence which is to find his true love. Argyle was open minded unlike most ponies, so acceptance of other ponies might have been a big step for him. Never have I seen a parent help the mane group in a friendship mission (not counting Starlight's father and Sunburst's mother). Family matters would be quite the core topic for the TV series.

Look, that cutie mark was just a generic icon made up by the creators of the magazine as a cutie mark meant for the reader child. Its not a hint for the future character or past character.
It's just a theory many of them get created with various shows some are close to the mark while other's not so much.
This cutie mark can be the cutie mark of misty, because she is the mane 6 with sunny,hitch,ruby,zipp and (i forgot her name)

Do you have a theory for why ponies have only one cutie mark rather than two? There is absolutely no way that was not an intentional detail. There has to be more to it than, *well they just have one now hurr dee durr* especially since its supposed to be in the same universe as G4.
