The level of authenticity that the whole MeatEater crew has in their content is unmatched in the hunting and fishing TV world.

If his brother only saw it from that perspective. Dude doesn’t think promoting hunting to people who haven’t been exposed to it. It’s disappointing.
Steve Rinella and MeatEater is why I hunt and now my kids kids. I could even argue it changed my life. Used to be against hunting too. He showed how hunters are often for conservation and what goes back into the land and the animals.
Steve and MeatEater are American treasures and should be regarded higher than they are

Steve!! Hell yea. I love listening to his narration during the Meat Eater episodes. The way he talks about nature, wildlife, hunting, and conservation is highly poetic and really enjoyable to listen to.

Never hunted, beyond tracking down the occasional fly that gets in through my front door. Ever since my twin boys were born 8 months ago I've binge watched all of Rinella's content (lots of late nights and early mornings with the twins) I can get my hands on. I don't even understand why I love it so much.

As a Canadian hunter I can say that the primary reason for hunting is not to put food on your table, it is for the enjoyment of the hunt and the comrade with your friends. It is cheaper to buy your meat than it is to hunt for it in Canada.

I enjoy Steve's work and the educational merit of his content. I do though think there is a huge blindspot in the "cows not condos" conservation thinking; where exactly do you plan to put all the people? We can pretend that the population isnt going to continue to grow in this country espesially in places with access to such important and fragile wild places, but that just denies reality. You also arent going to keep that growth in NYC or LA.
It may be an uncomfortable truth but like for like 1000 units of condos takes up and damages less wildland area then 1000 single family homes of suburbs do. We as conservationists and people who love the wild outdoors and want to see as much of it protected as possible need to be willing to allow development which at first may make it feel like we are covering the land in a jungle of concrete but in reality is making it so miles of wild country are not paved over and dotted by suburban houses that fragment and displaces native flora and fauna.

I wish they would remove our antler restrictions. It doesn’t help with bigger deer in our area . I hunt for food and others hunt horns . If the antler restrictions is removed it will benefit food hunters and the guys hunting big Mature deer are still going to hunt said animals . The antler restrictions have ruined hunting for younger generation they get told no that’s not legal , no that’s not old enough no that’s not legal . An they say the hell with it and quit hunting .
