  • This is a video on programming the Access Virus TI MK1 Synthesizer and an introduction to my music. I show fun ways to to use the virus and go through a patch I made from scratch - lots of random tid bits about synthesizer functions! I hope you find it fun and enjoyable!
    I plan on making more synth videos of similar composition, but like to experiment (what will come next!!). I make a lot of electronic music and can incorporate that into my videos too. Check out my Soundcloud below!

    Heck yeah, that intro delaying it's way into the track was an inspired move.

    Nice tutorial and explanation on the Virus mod matrix! I love using the various arp settings and for sequencing the Virus TI2, the Squarp Hapax is super awesome because you can sequence all 16 parts- that gives you a complete drum machine, bass synth, effects/filters and many pads/leads.

      Squarp Hapax sounds interesting! I've seen some instruments like that to program the Virus and it looks like a lot of fun, but gives me anxiety because of how the Virus can behave with external clocks n things

    I really wonder how I get unsubscribed from channels. Any way, glad, I found you again. Or at least, the algo-cats dragged you back in again.. I have the Indigo 2 Redbacked, and Polar Ti-II. Really love'm. Nice vid!

      UA-cam is really annoying that way. I see comments disappear and have no idea why. To be unsubscribed by them is awful. Glad you found your way back and glad you enjoy my videos! The Redback is one I want bad! Such a cool format and style (B I think?). I was going to buy the Darkstar, but couldn't bring myself to have two TIs haha

    Thanks for the demo! We definitely need more CCs to show their work with the TI. Any tips on programming on the physical interface? I tried to use the software from AURA but was quickly overwhelmed

    • @ModIcore
      @ModIcore  8 місяців тому +3

      You're welcome! AURA looks like it has more parameters on one page than Virus Control; I could understand being overwhelmed!
      My tips for programming the physical interface are:
      -The shift key is super useful e.g you can hold shift and press the Filt 1 button to switch to the analog filter emulations or shift and mono button to change type. Knowing what you can shift+select can save time
      -I like to utilize the soft knobs for parameters that are hidden in menus.
      -You can change the displayed setting to be shorter which will help to make faster changes. How the knob reacts can be changed too. Default is snap but it can be turned and not changed until it hits the saved value. This is all in config if I remember correctly
      Hope this helps!

    This is great, thanks for making the tut! Ive been having issues with the app on Windows 10 unfortunately, did you have to do anything to makenit work reliably?
    PS: the c in oscillator is silent, so ossilator, not oskilator 🤓

    • @ModIcore
      @ModIcore  7 місяців тому +1

      Nothing I've done has made it super reliable. A shorter USB cable did help a lot though. Interesting about osscilator pronunciation! Learn something new every day

      @@ModIcoreI tried again, bypassing the USB audio and just using the audio of my interface (Audient iD14 Mki) and that worked without any issues, so now I can mess with TI - so stoked! And re: oscillator, yeah it's weird. English is weird. I'm Ure I mispronounce a ton of words without realising 😅

    I find it way easier to just send the audio outputs from the Virus TI2 to mixer/audio interface and record into DAW that way. The software TI2 plugin works slow and buggy even with Windows or an older Mac OS and even the Aura TI software is buggy too for newer Mac OS computers. I only use it for managing patches and update firmware. I can do it all on hardware Virus interface even though the user hardware is ancient interface and menu diving but I am used to it. The only benefit of the software besides patch and firmware management is for the arp and mod matrix. Love it nothing can touch 16 part multi-timbral with hundreds of voices and tons of awesome filters and effects.

    • @ModIcore
      @ModIcore  5 місяців тому

      Yeah that is my way of recording too - quick and dirty! I don't even use multi mode most of the time because I bounce the sound to wav. I love the Virus's hardware interface. I haven't found another that gives me so much control quickly. Definitely some menu diving but it isn't painful. It is unfortunate that you cannot fully control the arp without Virus Control. Thanks for watching!

    Do you get any sync issues too? I use fl studio 21. I have a virus too. 🙂

    • @ModIcore
      @ModIcore  9 місяців тому +4

      @drecostigma5885 Ah Virus Control. What a beautiful mess. I used to use it a lot but stopped because of sync issues. I would get pops,clicks and hanging notes (sometimes those random hung notes actually made the recording haha). It is good in theory, but not worth it in use. My recommendations to improve sync performance are:
      1. Use a short USB cable and don't use a USB 3 port but USB 2. A dedicated PCI card may help, but I didn't see much improvement. I would find how your motherboard manages its USB lanes; here is a link to my motherboard and you will see a diagram half way down the page showing which USB ports are grouped together: www.anandtech.com/show/7964/gigabyte-z97x-ud5h-review . Try to not use multiple USB devices in the same group.
      2. Use a higher buffer setting in your interface
      3. Bounce channels when they're completed to save on resources. Effects like reverb/delay can affect the wonkiness.
      What I currently use VC for are video presentations and patch organization. I use midi to trigger and its outputs to record into my audio interface's input. This makes it so I can change settings on the fly without being bricked by the real time rendering; it works better for me. You can use a midi vst editor like midiquest which is much more reliable as it works of tried and true midi. That is a fantastic program for many synths.

    You can loop audio with the TI?

    • @ModIcore
      @ModIcore  20 днів тому

      Are you referring to my voice in the beginning? This is using a tape delay on the virus. I have it where the feedback loops for eternity, but it gets distorted as it layers. I think this is available on the C too.

    Doesn’t this synth have a constant pitch drift on one of the oscillators?

    • @ModIcore
      @ModIcore  5 місяців тому

      Not that I know of. Tuning is consistent unless you choose to affect it. It just once in a blue moon it will go out of tune on its own.

    • @jeffc1753
      @jeffc1753 5 місяців тому

      @@ModIcore Thanks for responding. It was pretty apparent when I had it; when I added just 2 saw waves, it had an obvious and obnoxious drift and had to be intentionally coded by Access. I never could find a way to turn it off. I’ve searched for other videos that show this and so far found one where I swear it briefly can be heard.

      @@ModIcore Here’s the video ua-cam.com/video/ZD0wkClz4Tc/v-deo.htmlsi=OKk7JRuSnwMDeb5Z. Hard to catch, but from about 4:24 to 4:28, you can hear the beat frequency between the two oscillators get slower, then quickly get faster. In my experience it does this over and over, which drove me crazy! When I had mine, I don’t believe I experimented with the Phase Init setting. I don’t think the detune setting matters for it. I’m considering purchasing the TI2 again, but if this can’t be turned off then most likely not.
