  • Took some time to figure out how to remove and reinstall the deck belt and the drive belt on my Bad Boy Mowers Maverick. Pretty simple process to be honest with you. Nothing too technical or difficult. This can easily be done by any DIY type person, or anyone who is mechanically inclined. Pay attention to the diagram stickers, and you will be good to go.

    This video saved my bacon! Thanks! I replaced my clutch, and after everything was put together and bolted up with Loctight, I realized I put the clutch on 180* off, meaning the electrical connection was on the opposite side of where it should be. I was ready to pull the clutch and start all over, then I did a quick search on loosening the drive belt and found this video! Took me about 10 minutes to loosen the drive belt tensioner a no spin the clutch. Thanks again.

    That is my hope. I am replacing it and will tighten it. Thanks for the videos and this response.

    Getting it done 😊
    Heads up, I disassembled the spindles on my Maverick 60 inch when it was new. The spindle bearings had very little grease in them. So I removed the bearing seals that face into the spindle, drilled, tapped, and installed grease zerts in each spindle. Pump them full of high-speed bearing grease and grease them from time to time. Easy project. Equally important, remove each belt pulley to repack the bearings with fresh high-speed grease every 100 hours. It will make a great video.

      That is a good idea. I am sure I will start getting some bearing noise at some point. I will definitely make that mod whenever its time.

      When you do your spindle modification, notice where the grass hits the spindle and where to locate each grease zert so that it will be easier to access for greasing purposes. I use Lucas extra heavy-duty green grease. It is best for high-speed bearing applications. Good luck and great job with your videos. I am a fan.

    Good job. The belt flapping seems a little off but I have nothing to compare it to other than a Liquid Nitrogen pump drive belt and it flaps downstream of the of the drive.

      Yeah I don’t really have a baseline to compare to either, aside from the belt of which you speak. Good job Robbie.

    I love my little 48" Bad Boy MZ Magnum but it pisses me off that I lost bolts from the spacers. I like to walk my yard after I cut & twice now I found bolts in laying on the ground. The 1st one i got lucky and found where it came from. Last year i found one and I couldn't find where it came outta. So i figured it fell off of a work truck because it was not far from the road. When i replaced my belt last week, I noticed the spacer bar from transaxle to transaxle was hanging with only one bolt holding it on. Then it came to me what that bolt was for. I tried to loosen the one bolt that was left but from at least 50 or 60 cuts it was kind of backed out and it was pretty beaten up from bouncing around under there. It broke. So I went and ordered a new spacer and two new bolts at my local Bad Boy dealer. I would recommend that if you buy one or have one, it would be best to put some threadlocker on the bolts especially the spacer bolts. Other than that issue the Bad Boy is the way to go cause its well built and even the cheaper models are heavy duty.

      Yeah I’ve heard of issues, especially in 2022-2023 with random bolts backing out or not being tight at all. I usually check over everything after 5 cuts or so.

    have you ever had the pump belt cut the hose to the right side fluid fill cup? and what might cause this belt to be out of line to actually cut the hose

    • @south_coast
      @south_coast  4 місяці тому

      I have never heard of that happening. I would guess your belt is really loose. May just need to tighten it.

    I had to do deck belt twice this season on my 60”. I am actually doing the second replacement today and found the blade/spindle pulley was ~slightly stuck (turning it with the blade broke free). But I went to find a grease point and found none. Any thoughts other than silicon spray?

    • @south_coast
      @south_coast  10 місяців тому

      Yeah I’m surprised they use sealed bearings and not grease-able type spindles

      silicone spray is not rated for hi temp parts like bearings

    Did you ever found out if it was normal for the belt to be slinging like that when the clutch on. I just replaced my spring cause it broke and it's doing the same as yours??

      No, never found a definitive answer to that. I have mowed a couple times and it seems to be fine though.

      Late to the party. I have a 2016 with 350 hours, and have never replaced the hydraulic drive belt....however, now that I brag on it, I suspect I will have to soon.
