I decided to get this as my first pistol. I’m a lefty and of all the hand guns I tried out at the shop this was my absolute fave. I felt the most comfortable with the FNX so I’m happy as a first time carrier.

The FN looks great but like you mentioned I picked up certified Sig 2022 in 40 cal and it is a very nice gun. I got it about 2 months ago and very pleased with that firearm. This FNX looks like a winner.
I agree that it is a underrated pistol. I always come back to shooting it over and over. It is a BillyGoat of a pistol too. It never has a problem cycling ammo. Glad you enjoy it !

Good review. I own the FN509 Tactical, and use it for my bedside gun. It is decked out with a light, suppressor, and red dot. While I do love it, I prefer a hammer pistol, which is where this beauty comes in. I love it. I own the 9mm and the 45 tactical and adore them all!
I have an FNX-45 and I absolutely love it...so I got one of these to match and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I love the feel, the sights, and the trigger...but it's got an awful lot of muzzle flip for a 9mm. I shot it side-by-side with my FNX-45 and the muzzle flip on them felt almost the same. Compared to an M&P9 or G34 it feels like you're shooting a .40! That being said after a bit of getting used to it, it shot very well. It's definitely the best option out there for a DA/SA polymer pistol.
Good video. I've looked at these over the years and have thought about giving them a try because of the features this gun has, but my biggest concern is whether or not FN will continue to make them. I'm not sure how many of these they sell, and the FiveSeven has been around forever and seemingly only fills a niche market, but it's kind of a bummer when you get a pistol you end up really liking and the manufacturer discontinues it.
dexm2010 It’s hard to tell what these companies may do. They will honor the warranty and should be able to service their guns even if discontinued. At least for awhile.
Live in the Seattle area and have tried tirelessly to find one in the local shops here. They're basically nonexistent here, I have its big brother the FNX45 Tac, If you all know a shop that carries them where you are I have no problem buying out of state just to get ahold of one. Just thought I'd throw that out and see if I can find one. Great video btw.
Autumn of 2024 as I post. I've never been a 9mm fan. The ammo is mostly lousy, especially in short-barrel carry pistols. And I don't trust pistols with just a trigger safety. I bought an FNX-9 this summer, and mated up Freedom 135 grain flat nose ammo. Last week, fired two mags rapid fire at seven yards, all head shots with one near miss. I've never been able to get a 9mm anywhere close to that. This is a very well designed da/SA pistol that is reliable, lightweight, safe to carry, and 4" barrel gives ammo enough velocity to perform well. The cons are an extremely heavy da trigger pull, over 11-lbs on mine, and costly to work on or change parts. For example, a gunsmith wouldn't quote a trigger job except by the hour, and warned it could be as much as the gun cost. Apparently, FN's are more complex and difficult to work on than most brands. If you can live with a heavy da trigger, there really is only positive things to say about thisodel.
It’s a problem that I found pretty quickly. FN does not support guns that they have discontinued very well. The one place they partnered with to sell their parts have virtually nothing. Once it breaks or wears out it’s pretty much done. You can still get recoil springs for now.
@@ShootWellAndOftenSWAO I didn't know they had discontinued the FNX9. It's an excellent pistol. I don't know why they never promoted it. They could have promoted it and the FNX45 as a set.

The only striker fire pistol I own is a 3rd gen Glock G20. At the time I felt it was the best choice for 10mm. Anyway I went off topic. The FNX 9 is more than combat accurate and it is easy to field strip and maintain . Everyone who has handled this firearm has fallen in love with it. I also purchased the FN/ Galco leather paddle holster which completes it. But once you add a taclight you almost have to go with Kydex which I really do not care for.
I think what folks mean by _"it doesn't have a good trigger"_ regarding the FNX9 is the longer trigger pull. I dislike long trigger pulls too just because it slows up you fast shooting ability. But this is just a guess as *_"a good trigger"_* is very subjective to the individual & organization (example: police like long & heavy triggers for safety, Cowboy action shooter like "hair" triggers, the military like two stage triggers on their M16/Ar-15, etc.). I’ve got one and love it. Only problem I’ve ever had with it is because of the stout recoil spring. This caused failure to lock open on last round with my original hand loads.
If you're carrying cocked and locked, does the safety/decocker lever prevent itself from going into the full decocking stroke when flipping the safety off?
You have to depress it pretty significantly for that to happen. So just carrying it in a holster would be safe. Drawing the gun and releasing the safety takes a deliberate action. With training should be no issues. However when shooting the gun you may need to experiment with your grip. I placed my thumb under the deckocker/safety the first time and accidentally lifted up causing it to engage the safety enough to kill the trigger. But I know better now.
Do you know if this is compatible with 509 mags I was thinking that if it were I could grip chop it to compact size and use 509 mags and have an FNX 9 compact
I like this firearm, the only downside of this pistol is that the interchangeable backstraps tend to shift down while shooting. Very annoying. The feature set offered on this pistol is amazing. I just got the fnx 45 tac a few weeks ago and it is now my favorite pistol to shoot by far .. most likely of all time 😆 now joining the club and will spread the word to fellow gun nuts
Great review. The FNX high on the list along with H&K's USP 30 LEM V.1. I suspect the FNX will come first. H&K is a bit to pricey at the moment. Not shooting anyone or anything you do not intend to shoot is Not the function of any safety from Glock's "Safe Action" through variations of 1911 'Cocked & Locked" or any variation of DA/SA. Not shooting anything or anyone I do not intend to shoot is a function and the purpose of my Brain Cells. Semi-Auto pistols made since 1980 (and most before then) simply will not discharge unless the trigger is pressed all the way through the firing sequence. Safeties are to prevent the trigger from being pressed all the way through the firing sequence. Period. That is All they are for and that is all they do. With quality firearms, there really is no 'Best' pistol. There are ones I Like Best & there are those I Like Less. My CZ's aren't "Better" than my Sigs or Glocks I just Like them Best. Over the years I've had many different kinds of pistols. Right now I favor DA/SA semi automatics. I like putting my thumb on the hammer when I re-holster. If the hammer moves, something is wrong. So I stop. No one wants Glock leg

If it had an optics cut that would be the perfect carry gun for me. My FNX 45 is my absolute favorite pistol of all time.
I’ve heard people say that and I’ve always wondered if they’ve only shot a few pistols and therefore say that or if the FNX 45 is actually that good.
I just got the fnx 45 tac a few weeks ago and it is now my favorite pistol to shoot by far .. most likely of all time 😆 now joining the club and will spread the word to fellow gun nuts
@@worldwide1873 Hell yeah man, ive must of shot them all but there is just something magical about the fnx45. Welcome brother
Seem like u have great prices on firearms can I have the store fb or website? Accurate inventory?
It's a nice gun I just wish the back straps fit securely
I shot my friends fnx 45 and the trigger ruined all my pistols for me so i think I found my new 9mm thanks for making this
Can you put a red dot sight on this gun?
LOVE THIS PISTOL (FNX 9mm)
... I have a few Pistols and FNX (FN) is my FIRST Grab!
How can you find the manufacturing date code on a FN pistol ? I just picked one up and was wondering when it was made .
You have to call FN directly and give them the serial number. They answered right away and I had my answer in less than 2 minutes.
its nice firearm.im trying to complete the set
I've been looking for this pistol and seems like it's rare. I want it just because it has the DA feature.
Order one from an FFL...Available.
I have the 9 and the .45 and love them both
This is the perfect gun for you because the trigger is ambidextrous...
I had one of these that I sold. I want another one
If they would just take this exact gun and give it that fnx 45 make over...FN, please hear us
I had to get 2... I have the all black model and the silver slide model
Of course
Pistolet shume e mire dhe e bukur.
I agree as mine is a very sweet shooter.
Men!!! behind the spring I can see a spider !!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
FNx are good.. fns have had their issues, my local police department dropped the FNS last year due to it having a chance to fire by itself
Glad I sold my FNS a long time ago. The mags were also super $$$. The only thing I miss is the awesome grip texture!
Fact
I LIKE MINE AS MUCH AS MY 1911 AND FAR MORE THAN ANY GLOCK., ALL IT COULD USE IS TRITUM NIGHT SIGHTS AND THREADED BARREL IMO
I like 1911 and Glock above ANY FN

I don’t know what you said but thanks for watching
Where you @how much
This was purchased locally for $400
Long sold out of them now
FN needs to keep up with the times. 10mm, 357 Sig and 5.7x28 are the calibers of the future. 9mm, 40 and 45 are relics of the past.
A friend of mine just got one of these. I don't like that plastic safety.
It may not be for everyone. Cheers
Yes MY Next
I hope you found one.
Regret selling mine at least once a week
