    I really like how calm you and the dogs are when working the sheep. Clearly a lot of effort has gone into training the dogs. Wish mine would sit on command at 20 paces! 😊

    Great video! Maggie does such a great job and showed considerable self control when the ewe came up to her face! Also, I had to chuckle, you told her to sit when she was on top of the lambs in the truck, and she sat right down, on top of the lambs. What a grand dog!!

    Great video. Always nice to watch good sheep handling techniques. You sometimes have to make do with what you have to work with.

    Looks like the 216 lambs were all born on the same day. A real good even mob.

    Hello from the UK .
    Have you heard of using small bale barley straw in the water to keep the algae in check, not sure if it works but maybe a cheap fix if it does!

    Never a dull moment! Good over-view of a busy day, showing how farmers still need to be versatile and forever adaptive to changing conditions & needs. I guess some of that algae can be quite nasty. Always enjoying seeing the pups. Take care & keep well!

    Great video, great insight into a day in a sheep operation down there, very interesting to hear about the first and second crosses you guys use down there. Very different from here in Ireland but obviously totally different type of land. Mostly Scottish black face on the hills around us here in the Comeragh mountains in the Sth East of Ireland, a few lads keep Lanark & Swale dale crosses and there's also some of the North country Cheviot types. Love seeing those Kelpies doing their thing.

    Thanks for another vid mate - always appreciated. Your drenching tip (@ 5:55) is a good idea...I've usually come at them from the back but will try this next time. You've got some good dogs there too...we've recently added a "rescue" kelpie to our bunch (you can't let them keep living on a verandah in Ngunnawal!)...lovely girl but a bloody handful at the moment with recall and other basic commands...we'll get there though. Good to see you've had a drop of rain...hasn't made it through to Gundaroo yet but it'll come. Cheers then...

    thats great to hear you guys are expanding again. What happened to your old stock?

    • @ourfarmlifeaus
      @ourfarmlifeaus  Рік тому +2

      During the drought we de stocked a few. Stock prices (along with everything else) are just quite high the past few years, so we're just slowly building numbers again!

    What weoght do the first cross ewes get to be when they mature?

    • @ourfarmlifeaus
      @ourfarmlifeaus  Рік тому +1

      When they don't have a lamb on them they can get to around 75-80kg! Some will get heavier but probably average around 75
