I picked my Q3 up two days ago. I just wondered why you felt the need to cover the red dot up? I would be worried that it would damage the paintwork on the camera. Thanks
Hi, thanks for the question! Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine. For the tape, if I was worried a small piece of tape would damage a Leica I’d have bigger questions about the rest of the camera. At the end of the day it’s a tool, not a museum piece, I know if there’s some wear and tear it means I’ve been using it, and that’s why I buy cameras. In that regard I guess I associate superficial damage with success. In terms of why, I’ve been shooting street for over ten years and I’ve taped every camera I’ve ever owned since I heard Henry Cartier Bresson would tape his. Initially it was just for stealth in general, but now it’s also to avoid “the Leica convo” with Leica enthusiast and/or strangers who only know the brand as a fashion statement. I don’t want those conversations while I’m dialled in, I want to be invisible. You might also see in most of my videos I predominantly wear all black, it’s a very Melbourne thing I think and also a very conscious decision if I’m out shooting that both my action cam and my photography camera stand out as little as possible. The cameras and I can then turn into one big amalgamous blob which is easier for people’s peripheral vision to ignore.
Loved the video. I'm intrigued by the glitterglass. We're the photos using any if the new leica profiles or sooc? What's settings did you use for the photos. TIA. My Q3 arrives in a few hours!
I come from a 35mm film background so I love degrading the images a bit with the glimmer glass (which some people absolutely hate me for). I also add a bit of grain in Lightroom, and usually shoot the Vivid image profile. I’m excited for you, hope you enjoy it as much as I do
@@luciengraetz thanks for the reply! I wouldn't use the word "degrade" I would say "Add character" :) I was hoping you were using the glimmer with one of the Contemporary or Classic profiles, have you tried that?
Loved the shots. I went to Bern a while ago myself for half a day and took a lot of shots. The bear park is always nice with lots of people around it :) Also waited around the baby-eating fountain for 30 minutes for someone to come out eating a burrito (there's a burrito shop right in front of it) but didn't happen :)
To prevent as many unwanted convos about gear as possible. I found without it people would stop and ask me about my camera all the time, I’m not a technicals guy, I just want to shoot
Thank you so much for making this video. You just saved me $6000. I was actually considering the Q3 but after seeing the sluggish AF on it and nothing really to special on the files themself, I will be keeping my Sony A7C and gettting the A7CII this fall. About the only advantage with the Q3 is the Leica bragging rights to your friends and that they know you had 6k to spend on a camera.
i tape it up too - and I live in one of the safest cities in the world. There are many reasons for doing so, Leica knows this and caters for it themselves
Loved these shots.

Nice walkabout! Seems fairly quiet and peaceful there
Yeah, lovely relaxing stroll 🧘♂️
You missed the baby, you missed the blind man... 😄
Love your work, as always. Have liked and said nice things 👍👍
Hahah, thanks mate 🤝
Late comment I know, but nice shots! I'm curious, do you use zone focusing or auto focus on the Q3?
Thanks! Had this question a bit so my most recent video I went into detail about all my settings too, but yeah, autofocus

Hahahha, that’s so good. I didn’t put that together myself. Would make a great shot!
Dope shots, I like the street POV
Thanks Lisa! 🤝
Ooooh slept on this one! How come you taped the Leica logo? To trick the poors?

Nice
Thanks mate!
why would you hide the Leica logo?...
I tape all my cameras for all sorts of reasons

Hahah, cool man, thanks for the backhanded compliments, I’m glad to help. I could defend all of those points but do what makes you happy 🫂
The Leica Q3 is nice, but simply overpriced. Stick with the Q2!
Too late 🤷🏼♂️
You missed the porche bro
Always keep ‘em wanting more
Seriously, why bother taping the logo. You can’t look after yourself? I walk around full showing off the Q3.
Hahah, man, funny you think that’s why I taped it, I did it to avoid conversations with Leica owners
