With the Power User Perk maxed out, you get DOUBLE the number of shots per fusion core/ultracite fusion core. It jumps from 500 to 1000 shots per core.

Well, I think this basically confirms what we already know: that even Bethesda doesn't know exactly how their game works, and that we need turtle to figure it out for all of us.
On a side note ive found its basically the same for the rifles; the laser is super accurate and faster firing, while the plasma is slower to fire, projectiles have to travel, and has an overall higher dps.
@ 9:40 Actualy I have an Anti Armor Ultrcite Gatling Plasma, -25% AP, +50% Crit Damage.

Gatling laser wins for me just because of rechargeable ammo!
Yeah 4 cores is plenty for a play session. But I am in PA all day every day. 5 pcs of wpn wt reduc too! So I carry every heavy gun!
Been doing a lot of testing with both weapons recently.
Believe it or not, faster fire rate out DPS critical as a second star. But ONLY when critical buffs are applied (blight soup, guns and bullets 9 etc etc). The increase isnt huge but it's there (roughly 100 damage per second increase). Just thought id throw that out there 😊
Crit is unfair vs ffr if use buffs…overdrive, blight soup, better crits and magazine make it unfair for ffr…and if use grim, savy, and coffee or quatum with 2 cola perks make it even more unfair …
Ofc ffr is better without those buffs for crit

Crit increases total damage and FFR increases DPS/TTK the only time you’ll want 50c are high damage single round weapons and only with B,AA,TS(for launchers) it’s solely for dealing the highest damage in an instance instead of the most damage over time
Worth pointing out a big reason that vats is great for bosses is because crits cut through their innate damage resistance. Even if you are in PA and can't get 33 luck, even getting a crit every 3rd shot is still a huge DPS increase on top of the guaranteed headshots
For me it comes down to what you prefer. Myself I've run with both guns and prefer the Gatling Plasma for a multitude of reasons, most probably wouldn't make sense to anyone else and I'm okay with that.

i also run both just cuz heavy energy is my build so i got something for different ammo types and yeah i actually prefer the plasma as well idk just a preference
it probably comes down to flashiness and color and plasma damage looking cooler then the fusion
I think it comes down to what the purpose is for, if you're playing in a public world doing public events none of it matters you could use any prefix even if its bad, but where your build and weapon and prefix shine is in a private world playing solo
I managed to get lucky and get Anti-Armor/25% Weapon Speed for both an Ultracite Gatling Laser and a Gatling Plasma. For huge targets like the Scorchbeast Queen I use the Plasma, but for most everything else like at Eviction Notice, I MUCH prefer the UGL because of how pinpoint it can be at longer ranges. That and I use the regular barrels. It melts the firestarters if I can consistently headshot them. I put the beam focuser on just so it's easier to see and it helps a lot.
Both are better than any other similar gun though in my opinion. The gauss minigun can do a lot of damage too but the ammo upkeep just isn't worth it. The Holy Fire Flamer though is an amazing contender for close range fights though.
I was recently noticing some sort of variance in effectiveness between the Plasma and Ultracite Gatling. My recent experience aligns with what your video points out.
I've been wondering which one did the better damage but personally if it came down to how the weapon fires I'd say Gatling laser all the way plus more customization. I recently got a vampire's Gatling plasma from scorched earth and love it as the vampire stat helps keep me alive. All three of my heavy weapons has the vampire stat, my holy fire, gauss minigun and now my Gatling plasma but at times it doesn't feel like my gatling plasma is doing the damage it says it's doing but back when I had a Gatling laser I easily melted enemies although it loved to break a lot but it was just a backup weapon when I was completely out of ammo for my holy fire and gauss minigun instead of having to punch stuff to death. Had thoughts of adding another Gatling laser to my arsenal as it's not a bad weapon and fusion cores are easy to find(never tested ultracite Gatling laser though, only regular with the burn effect). Both are fun but sometimes you can't really tell if the numbers are lying or not
I like the plasma more, but preferably I would go with the laser because the projectiles feel more accurate in comparison to the plasma
This is the reason I started to use gatling laser after using plasma for long. I guess I wanted some change after getting bored too. Fusion cores are more painful to make than plasma cores unfortunately
@@Ajattaro when you run daily ops you can get cores. They won’t be fully charged though but if u have that atom shop item to charge cores it won’t be a problem
I found a bloodied crit dmg res wa for 3k caps and was almost maxed caps so I bought it, I’m glad I did!
There’s something about the accuracy that feels so nice compared to my bloodied FFR GP
Since the latest update I just got a Quad 25 FFR 15 reload (No mods changed) from a drop during the Eviction Notice quest. With the Power User perk the ammo count per core is 2500. I can't wait to try it out.
I noticed the fusion core charge jumping around when in vats on the UC Laser against the titan. Was that from running Electric Absorption and getting hit by laser fire? ...by mole miners?
The mole miners in that fight use laser guns that were procing the absorption perk, yeah.

am I correct in saying that a vats critical bypasses all resistances,
so the AA effect does nothing on 50% of shots if you are critical spamming with 33 luck and Critical savy?

I just tested it and you are right.
AA railway criticals consistently do visably more damage than a non legendary railway criticals.
Not everything on the internet was true afterall.
UGL seems to be the superiour option, I use a vampffr for ultimate laziness but always felt weak vs. bosses. More expensive obviously but it looks like a nice way to burn ressources for bosse while being pretty much invincible while low health. Still if we're involving long range then plasma caster is still in the race for best weapon. The combination of high damage and precision is just great.
I have a similar roll and agree, felt like I was contributing very little against bosses. I carry Holy Fire for that reason!
It depends of the formula, if subtraction is presented in calculation of resistance then damage will vary. Dumb example 10 * 100 will loose to 20 * 10 if enemy can just eat 9 up per shot, the damage will be 100 wereas in the second case it will be 110, if another enemy eat 8 up then we get 200 against 120, the more boldy enemy the more important damage per shot against rate, in the case of crit damage per shot becomes yet more important
Very nice. I personally tried aa2525 ugl with aligned charged barrel. It was fun to use.. for boss fights i run a uny heavy crit build & aa50c25 gp. I already have my PA build set up thanks to your videos but i got tired of running PA..

I'm not sure if this will help make your testing a bit easier or if this is just a fluke with this particular scenario..
But if you take the fire rate of the weapon, move the decimal over 1 space to the left, then multiply it by the damage, you get the dps.

I am using a vampire UGL and switch in my new AA charging barrel with faster weapon speed UGL for boss fights. non prime. consolidated ammo as I am also carrying UPC and fuel for my other weapons.
Use my vampire with increased weapon speed plasma caster for weak adds at range or holy fire for close in adds.
Need more modules and scrip...
I rarely use my spin up weapons for anything but boss fights, to annoying to me for small groups or one offs when running around.
One test i want to see, is Chainsaw with Dual Bar+Flaming mod, vs Auto Axe with Flaming Mod (both can be used with Friendly Fire perk then). The Chainsaw actually seems to have more damage on paper, but it's very difficult to notice a difference between the two in regular play.
the auto-axe wins if you use the electric mod since you can use science perks to boost it more.But if you wanting to use friendly fire like you said then yeah chainsaw would be your best bet and easier to obtain.
What happens if you compare ultracite gatling laser with ultracite ammo and ultacite GL with 100% crit damage mod with usual ammo?

@@AngryTurtle if definately not just coffee. I am running B2525 UGL and it throws me out of vats in half a second (23AP). Dont even think vats is possible to use with gatling laser guns. wasted money on it thinking its a godroll ..
the rate of the fusion core drain is just ridiculous but more ridiculous is the core regen from the coffee regen
I run both AA Gat Plasma and AA Ultracite Laser just in case boss breaks one I can still be in the fight 😄
The Gatling Plasma is just cheaper to run, especially when using Ultracite cores.
Yes, you get cores dropped now for both, but bottom line, it's just cheaper to operate, LOL!

@@TheAccursedEntity The one really irritating thing about it, when it auto reloads, leaving me with a ton of 1% Plasma cores, that cannot be recharged, but that's OK, because I can make tons of them, LOL!
And now that cores drop in dead enemies, I don't even have to do that anymore...
But you can use endangerol syringers on bosses now so the multiplier shouldn’t be 12x. Let alone other factors.
Should be closer to 2x when removing the bosses defense with enough syringers… also far less when you don’t have enough coffee spam to sustain vats lol
Heavy crits builds on a Gp with a AA5025 or B5025 oh my god completely changed the way i look at heavies and enjoy this game
I have both, they are vampire models and one aa plasma version been happy with ugl and recharging empty cores. I don't see how I can get faster fire rate without losing vampire.
I'm trying to decide between these two weapons as my 2nd weapon to compliment holy fire. One of the check boxes for me is a little silly. The gatling plasma takes up an obnoxious amount of screen real estate in first person which is my preferred pov.
How was the fusion cores recharging while shooting the titan?
legendary perk electric absorption, those miners are using energy weapons so they heal and recharge me
Well i have to say slight detail that i think you miss: VATS. I don't think you can VATS with gatling laser with regular barrel (different for charging though) but can with gatling plasma with help of some canned coffee. That difference will boost gatling plasma's damage way over the gatling laser :)
Indeed. It's very difficult to sustain VATS with a regular barrel due to the much higher fire rate. Personally I use plasma because it's sustainable in VATS using coffee. Even with faster fire rate BUT you will need that -AP cost 😊
I think we are missing this type of dps for bosses, I am courious about a AA50c or AA25 Holy Fire, its a lazy weapon for daily use and accoding to dps calculator, using It in critical, IS the more dps weapon in the game
How are you able to shoot so much in vats without the bar going barely even halfway down? I tried the same and drank a buncha coffee but I lose all AP very quickly and auto exits me out of vats :(

I run a couple bloodied Gatling plasmas with cats and a ffr laser and the plas always outperforms the laser at least for me
If you are a heavygunner, just let the stealth commando guys with q/50c/15 railgun do the job in boss fights. Collecting tons of coffee for every boss fight isn't worth it.

@AngryTurtle thank you. If you were out of power armor and using unyielding armor to boost AP and had a 25% less vats version of those weapons. How much less coffee do you think you would need? Half?
Anyone that says heavy guns are not good have not used these weapons. Non legendary versions of these guns will out perform most other weapons that aren’t commando or power melee. Combine that with the fact that you are basically immortal in PA, yeah heavy guns are still very good.

We have already established 12 coffees to be needed to sustain vats with a 50C instead of a FFR. Do you by chance have the number to go for with a FFR? From personal testing its around 20. Just wanted a second opinion. And as you know, spamming is a bit trickier on console as we have to open up the pip boy.

And yes, I know you mentioned 20 coffee in the video but Im assuming that was throughout the entirety of the fight and not burst spam like on console.
20 coffee sounds about right, you can always try 19 or 18 and see what happens it's hard to count exactly when spamming from hot button
I got a hundred ultracite plasma cores I gotta burn through the carry weight made my decision for me. Please BGS let me put plasma and fusion cores in the ammo box!
I always played HG, but I like commando or a hybrid build commando and HG, most fun build I have is my hybrid.

@@brandonbiochucky3116my dude, you can’t be running around with 1 heavy gunner perk and expect to do anything in game. Every weapon type pretty much requires you to use the perk cards for them to be effective. Nobody in the community uses weapons without their perk cards, it’s just dumb. So there’s no need for turtle to make a video about something than no one does.
I scrapped or dropped so many plasma and laser guns not knowing how to mod them or use the numbers...lol Now I have a bunch and don't what's better over others.. Lol
