    I actually had similar issue years back the filter fell off the bottom of the pump and fell into that little baffle sump and every time I hammered on it the filter would get sucked up into the pump and clog up the line took me a month to figure it out. But glad you got it fixed

    Yeah I got bit by the s hose. Thought I was having issues again this year so I swapped out the house again and the house I used the first time was fuel injection hose. I don’t think that stuff is made to be submerged in fuel, cause it was soft and gooey, just might have to swap it out once every year or so.

  • @tedjones-ho2zk
    @tedjones-ho2zk 3 місяці тому +12

    You guys made a common BIG mistake. You need to run the return on the hanger lower towards the bottom of the pump. You are going to have a massive issue with aeration of the fuel with that high volume pump with the fuel return so high. Also with a stock return hard line that will end up acting like a fuel pressure regulator due to the restriction, and may cause higher fuel pressure at idle.

    • @dcastro0018
      @dcastro0018 3 місяці тому

      Are you referring to the rubber hose that goes from the hanger to the fuel pump. So is it better to run that included straight hose with slight bends or get an "S" hose instead?

    • @tedjones-ho2zk
      @tedjones-ho2zk 3 місяці тому +1

      @@dcastro0018 No. there is a return line from the engine that goes through a 1/4 tube back to the hanger. Within the hanger the fuel retuns to the tank, but it's about half way up or higher next to the fuel pump motor. With the increased fuel flow of the pump, there will be an increase of fuel going through the return, and what happens is it streams back into the fuel tank, and if the tank level is below the return outlet it will aerate the fuel right at the bottom of the pump. Also the 5/16 return will act as a restiction, so at idle the fuel pressure will be high, and when it's adjusted to 40lbs with vac removed, then when you are going balls to the wall there may be a fuel pressure drop because the fuel system is not calibrated correctly, in addition to the aerated fuel being pumped into the engine. I think he got up to 15 lbs of boost, which is foolish considering they didn't make sure the fuel system was properly done.

      @@dcastro0018 Pro-M EFI sell a hanger that will solve the aeration issue, and it's
      6-an fittings, so you could either use 3/8 braided line or make up 3/8 solid line with either inverted flares or 37degree flares on the hard line. Just to add the Pro-M EFI hanger has 3/8 for the inlet and outlet. I am also including a video that Chris Richards does on the issue, very good video. Brother, this pump will suck the stock sump dry faster than the fuel can fill it. Ive tried every pump and hanger out there. I swapped to an 03 cobra tank and fore innovations 2 pump hanger and have not had an issue since. Its not worth blowing up an engine over. Be careful.

    If he's breaking up, he may be having electrical issues. He'll have to check all his grounds, make sure both heads are grounded, and as you mentioned it's important to upgrade upgrade the wiring to the pump.
    Another thing is the alternator size needs to be adequate for what the car is asking of the electrical system, especially at night with the lights on.
    Sometimes it's the injectors acting up because things aren't grounded properly too.
    Hopefully he gets it sorted out. It's usually that last 10% that takes the longest to sort out.
