I bought an Elantra Sport 6MT brand new in April of 2017 and drove it very hard for the 5.5 years that I owned it. It got so far as going full turbo swap, and no part on the suspension went untouched. I can definitely say it was the best car I have ever purchased. Only warranty issue in 90k miles was a squeaky cooling fan. Did all maintenance myself. I would have considered upgrading to a full N car at some point, but right now I am at a point in my life where I don't care to have a car payment and there is no way I could pay cash for one of these. My brother needed a car, so I sold the Elantra Sport to him and picked up an old SR20 powered Sentra. I've had a few of them in the past and wanted to get back into one. So I will do that for now. Maybe I can do the same for an Elantra N in about ~10 years.

Every time I watch a video on this car I like it a little bit more. I'm starting to think it's the only true enthusiast car at this point. It's actually attainable with it's availability, price point, and most importantly lack of dealer markups. It's a shame their Japanese counterparts won't put out their enthusiast cars in enough numbers to prevent scarcity and ridiculous markups if you can find them.

Awesome review as usual! I so look forward to any Elantra N review as an owner of a Cyber Gray DCT. I miss driving manuals, but honestly this DCT is so good, as you noted, that it would be hard to go back. I’m about 3 months into my N ownership and I can’t rave enough about how fun the car is. I have to stop myself from taking every backroad home because it just wants to play in the curves, but if you push it constantly it will dip into the low 20 MPG. I’m averaging just under 28 MPG all around, which is still incredible considering how quick and fun the car is.

@@good-tn9sr Elantra N, can get it MSRP, no rev hang, underrated steering feedback (IDA + dropping 10 lbs a corner) is better than 60K+ cars I've driven (Supra, M3F80, M2, CTR, awesome sounding exhaust, bulletproof engine, and track capable from the get go. I would say the clutch bite point is particular and the shifter feels is pretty lacking without kids. The GR86 has rev hang, oil flow issues, and the engine sounds like a toaster. The steering feel is mediocre and the shifter isn't better than an EN. To get it track capable you have to put way more in mods to get to the same performance level as the EN.
The EN has some stupid octane limiter but you can get it roved with a simple stage 1, and it gives you OEM plus feel by allowing 18-20 PSI. I would say test drive the EN and the GR. imo EN is the best kept secret in the car market considering they can be had for MSRP and have legitimate racing pedigree and chassis development.
Also: 34 MPG is capable highway and the dual nature of sport modes plus the interior space are perfect for a daily.

So I've had my EN DCT since early June and I've put about 3000 miles on it so far. Overall I am loving it but I have had a few issues.
-Fuel injector blew at 1200 miles, car was at the dealership getting fixed for 12 days. Was only offered a loaner for about 6 of those days.
-My enrollment with Hyundai's app connected "bluelink" service got screwed up. For the past 3 months I have been unable to connect to the car with the app so I can't remote start, set climate, or lock the car. They've been troubleshooting it but no dice over 3 months.
-With the car being so solid with all the chassis stiffening, hitting a pot hole or bump feeling like you just hit a metal pole with a metal bat. I swear the shock that the drive train experiences runs through your body. Whenever I hit a pothole I have to check all my wheels after to make sure none broke!
-11 gallon tank is annoying as hell. I feel like I'm always filling up. Couple this with the octane learning process (to get boost to 18-19 psi instead of 15psi) and if feels like you finally get the car to max boost... But then you have to refuel which starts the learning process over again.
-Turning radius sucks. I now park like one of those people who learned to drive at 25 years old.
I like the car alot. I haven't tracked or autocrossed it yet. If feels like it's pulls harder, and longer then my GTI ever did. And it still has the handling characteristics that my Veloster N had, albeit it is longer so it takes longer to rotate. It does feel like a step up from those cars though in terms of "driver's car", even with me going from manual to DCT.

You should show the dead pedal and comment on where the accel pedal and clutch are relative to it, as well as comment on legroom vs. seating position.
