Hey guys! Just to clarify, my GPA and AP exam scores mentioned in the video were from 9th through 11th grade. My overall GPA including 12th grade was a 3.92 unweighted GPA / 4.22 weighted GPA. And I took 3 AP exams senior year: AP Psychology (5), AP Statistics (5), and AP Environmental Science (4).

I'm taking AP Environmental Science in 12th grade and I also want to take AP Stats but my counselor told me if I found regular stats easy, so I'm hoping for the best 😭

Not to be rude or anything but the video was kinda boring, it was just a monotone reading of schools and accepted or rejected list. These are videos for a reason, emotion, insight, reactions. If you just wanted a straightforward list tyen you can read an article or something haha
@Brennen Nesser Have you not seen any of reaction videos? You don't need to yell and scream to have a good video or something just some.....personality. I think its also because he didnt really react to the decisions....he just let us know in one long list. I don't mean to hate on Shiv or anything, his videos are funny and great but this was just a lame reading thats all. But again I think its bc its not a reactions to college so I came to expecting something different.

Honestly, I came across hundreds of college reactions videos where everyone is reacting, jumping, and acting like a clown. Seriously dude, this is one of the best college reaction video. Though, I have to apply for Graduate program, but still the efficacy of your video boosts me up. :)

Yield protection. UCI does that for those who they think are not coming. I also got accepted to all the UC schools I applied, which were UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, and UCI, except for UCI. UCI just waitlisted me.
Essays are a huge factor. I'm a transfer student and I was rejected by the local cal state colleges (cpp, cssb, csf, csla) and accepted at Columbia. Someone explain that one if it wasn't my essay lol

@@sparkle0859 they don't. Grades only. My grades from 10 years ago were bad (part of why I dropped out) and outweighed my current grades from CC. My essay basically explained all that and then some. So the state schools said no, the schools that gave an option to explain said yes.
WAIT THESE STATS ARE EERILY SIMILAR TO MINE😭😭 you've given me so much confidence man. I thought you'd be a kid with a 4.5 GPA and a 1600 SAT but you seem like a realistic high school kid. Thank you for this video. I really needed this.

manpreet I didn't know this before I entered highschool, but the most prestigious and "expensive" universities tend to be the cheapest due to the fantastic aid they provide thanks to their massive endowments.

@@ShivVZG Honestly the best. I hate all these kids who react way too much when they either get accepted or rejected, it's way too emotional are annoying, plus they make the videos like 20 minutes of them trying to access the portals lmao. I like the straightforward-ness of this video.
Ayyy thank you dude! Honestly if I recorded my reactions live, wouldn’t be too emotional cuz I’d have been 100% fine with going to CC and transferring! :D Cali has some rly good community colleges too ngl. Just took a summer class at my local community college.

I watch a lot of these videos and this is the first one where the person applying has the same stats I do. Its always 4.9 weighted, 1600 sat, 5s on 10 ap exams 😂

Ketan Guthula Nah Berkeley is much more prestigious than UVA. But keep in mind VA also has w&m which is good for IR, business, and economics, and VT, which has stellar engineering and compsci programs.
Ketan Guthula I also toured UVA and hated it. Remember, just because it's a good school doesn't mean you have to apply. I'm also against it cuz my dad went to VT and I'm going to w&m

Thanks a lot dude! My stats (including my GPA) were probably around average for most of those schools though and some of my essays weren't super strong.
Biology is a very competitive major
at my school anything below 1500 is considered trash. I got 1490 which is considered horrible and when I tell anyone at my school "I did bad on the SAT" they say "wait but you AT LEAST must have gotten 1500 right???"

Man, I’m valedictorian, and I only applied to two local Uni’s here. You are one of those who I look to strive like.

I enjoyed this more than other college accept videos. I feel like so much has changed from when I was doing this about 10 years ago. Coming from California I cannot believe how much of an advantage I had in decisions from UCs -especially when compared to the kids I'm hearing weren't accepted from other states. Really surprised that UCI would turn away a kid with your profile -when I was applying it was definitely considered a safety school. I'm also surprised by the amount of kids who applied to Rice -that's my alma mater and my friend and former roommate is one of the Admissions Directors there now. Crazy how competitive it seems now. Best of luck at USC -definitely a great option.

Hey, a lot had happened since the 8 months after I discovered your channel. I ended getting into one of my dream schools: The College of Engineering at UC Berkeley to study Energy Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. I ended up getting into the SEED Scholars Honors Program, got a full ride, and a 40k research stipend. With some extra money I've been saving up and being an Elevate Scholar and the Francina Hester Scholar for my school, I am really looking forward to what comes next. I just want to say thank you for humor, relatability, and insightful videos throughout this part of my journey. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors!

Disclaimer: My curriculum is on a 4.0 UW Scale and a 5.0 weighted. I went to a project based learning charter school in the High Tech High family. No IB or AP courses are offered. We follow the A-G curriculum and offer UC approved honors courses in 11th and 12th grade. If your curriculum is not as similar to mine, my stats may not be the best indicator to your success.

Hey man thanks for sharing these tips! I just want to say that my older sister graduated from Stanford in '15 and majored in symbolic systems. However I think that you made the right choice to go to USC because I heard majoring in Biology is really good over there! Good luck with your future and I hope you do amazing things.

This might sound weird, but I have kind of secluded myself because of this sat. I am trying to do better on the sat reading section. I am taking my sat on Saturday, so It is just nice to see somebody that does not pretend to help others
Hmm since your SAT is this Saturday, I would go through a good amount of practice problems (and maybe buy a prep book and go through that quickly). Try reading 30 min each night except the night before your exam. I don’t recommend studying TOO much the day before exam. Light review is okay.
And did you seclude yourself to focus more? You can study with friends, sometimes that helps. No need to seclude : )

Pro tip: even if you didn’t get into an Ivy, you can likely transfer there as a Sophomore if your grades are good.
