When Dallas talked on the phone😎he told them he was across from the hotel that looked like a castle, well, that hotel was not in great shape. The 1950’s & 1960’s & even some of the 1970’s were the BIG DAYS for The Camelot Hotel😢 That was at I-44 & South Peoria & they demolished it several years ago & now a Quiktrip & a storage facility are there now. Not sure if Danny told you but the church where Johnny & Ponyboy hid out was demolished as well not long after the movie. Skiatook Lake, in Skiatook, OK is where that property is located. They also filmed Dallas robbing a Convenience Store on 86th St North in Owasso, OK across from the old high school there. I know 😍because I lived in that area and we were driving around that night & just happened to see all this activity so we asked what was going on & they told us so we stayed & watched... Your video was AWESOME & I thought you did a 🌟REALLY🌟GREAT🌟JOB🤩 They just dedicated the House last Friday August 9, 2019. Thanks for doing such a WONDERFUL job showing all the places! I'm from Tulsa. The Outsider's House, Crutchfield Park, and The Admiral Twin Drive-In are still there. The Circle Theater , Will Rogers High School, the O.S.U. Medical Center, the Boston Avenue Church, and the convenience store are still there. The Pines Drive-In Restaurant on Pine Street has been remodeled into a Mexican Restaurant and it is now unrecognizable. The bar where Dally was staying has been torn down. The Bowen Lounge at 11th and Denver has been torn down. The Dairy Queen has been torn down. The DX Gas Station is in Sperry, Oklahoma. The site of the old church that burned down is now at the bottom of a lake.

I'm from Tulsa so I know all of the locations that you went to. My parents and majority of my aunts and uncles went to Rogers but I didn't. My mom actually went to Rogers with one of the extras that fighting before the cops show up. I think it was the one who pulls out the knife. It was in the scene before they meet up with Soda at DX. I live a few minutes away from the Admiral Twin. My cousin lives a couple of blocks away from the Curtis house. I have another relative who shall not be named that has the chair from the house that Darry was sitting in. The person got it from another relative but I don't know how they got a hold of it. I would have said who owns the chair but I don't think they would want people to know that. It's pretty cool to be able to watch the movie and be like I know where that's at or I know what's there now. For example the bar that Darry was staying at when he gives Johnny and Ponyboy the gun is now a hotel and the abandoned church is now gone in Skiatook Lake.
The 52 card pickup scene was shot in Sperry. There's a closed down soda fountain across the street from the old DX station. The back of the soda fountain building is the 52 card pickup location.
OMG, Skateland. I used to do speed skating when I was younger and our team went to Skateland in Tulsa. It was our only out of state meet and we got stomped. Our local rink had a plastic composite floor. It had no seems and you got really good traction. We showed up at Skateland and they had a wood plank floor. We were slipping, sliding and crashing everywhere. lol It was upsetting at the time but it had to be funny to watch. I would have visited the filming locations but I was there before the movie was made. Okay, I admit, I am old.

Owasso is just a few minutes East of there where they filmed a scene with Matt Dillon at 86Th & Main across from the old Owasso high school. Every time I drive by there for the past 30yrs I think of seeing him there filming the scenes & I was just 18yrs old myself & straining to see him😍🤩

I was there when they broke ground on the new screens and me and my dad gave $4 to help rebuild it. A $1 each for my dad, mom, sister and I. We would go there all the time when I was a kid.
I actually stopped on the side of 244 and took video of it burning. I cried as I watched it burn to the ground. We still have our Save the Admiral Twin t-shirts we purchased during the fundraiser.
Emilio Estevez directed a movie based on that book, but it never took off like The Outsiders. They also filmed Rumblefish and Tex in Oklahoma as well : )

All us old Tulsa people that grew up going to the Admiral Twin were heart broken when it burned. There was a large out cry to rebuild.
