Tsuki, great research on this, I did not know there were so many bear subspecies. I have to mention for those who do not know, Corporal Wojtek a Syrian brown bear who was rescued by polish soldiers and served in WWII, Read about him, it shows the incredible intelligence of these animals even though they should live a normal life of a bear.
Another great story about the Syrian bear was hidden in this video, the Syrian bear release that i showed images of in the video didn't go to plan and the panicked bears started charging the rescuers and press before eventually fleeing.
I think china only really cares about pandas because its their national animal. If it where not. They be grinding those animals up and dry it it and eat it for medicinal purposes into nothing by now.
@waltuh12 Panda is an evolutionary dead end. It eats only one thing, doesn't mate easily, and accidentally crushes its babies. If humans all disappeared right this second, Panda would go extinct, even it every cage with a Panda on it was open. I have nothing personal against Panda. But the level of effort and funding it has had, and it still can't make it on its own. There are other, now extinct species that, had they received a tiny fraction of funding and manpower that Panda has? Those species would still exist. I simply think that we could save more species if we distributed all those resources elsewhere.
Really fascinating how so many subspecies have so much overlapping ranges like the 3 subspecies of Far East Russia, the Himalayan and Tibetan bears and the 3 subspecies found in Alaska.
Yeah that's why it's quite complicated because some don't view certain subspecies as subspecies and the number of subspecies depends on which expert you ask
@@TsukiCove you have a great channel where you dive deep into different species. Will you please talk about all the leopard subspecies? And also why the North China leopard is now the same as Amur leopard?
Our bears are usually living from middle of Swedeand up. They have been spotted in the south of Sweden. I'm glad they run away when they when they smell or hear people!!😟
Ussuri brown bears are even found in Korea, though just in the northern parts of the DPRK, including Chagang Province and the Hamgyong Mountains. Ursaluna from Pokémon Legends: Arceus and the Teal Mask DLC of Scarlet & Violet is based off the Ussuri brown bear. Ussuri brown bears are native to Hokkaido, which is the region Sinnoh/Hisui is based off of. Ursaluna is Ground/Normal, and it being Ground-type is in reference to Kim-un-kamuy, the Ainu god of bears and mountains and the fact that Ussuri brown bears mostly live inside burrows excavated into hillsides. Ursaluna's affinity with peat was inspired by the real distribution of Ussuri brown bears around former coal mines. The Ainu are the indigenous of Hokkaido, and bears are prevalent in Ainu mythology. The Ainu used to do a ritual where they'd keep a cub and treat it well for a year until they'd kill it during a ceremony and eat it to free its spirit so when it reached Kim-un-kamuy, it would tell of the humans' piety in gratitude for this service.
I was actually just watching videos about bear attacks, and I was curious about what are the different type that of brown bears around the world, and coincidentally you happen to drop this video in the same day 😂
Here is a cool story my fav animal is a tebitan blue bear so I set out to find one and after month’s of searching we finally spotted one this has to be my favorite moment of my entire life
My personal favorite subspecies of brown bear is the gobi bear it’s so fascinating to see how they can live in the extreme conditions of the gobi desert
Ussuri Brown Bears are the only Brown Bear subspecies that I fear most! They never seemed to lose their aggressive traits after living in the same habitat with Siberian Tigers for roughly over one million years! So naturally, they have to be very aggressive in order to survive a tiger attack. They're more of a search-and-destroy type bear subspecies than just a forager. Definitely not the type of bear you wanna cross paths with while trekking on foot. There have been numerous unprovoked attacks In Iwate Japan alone.
Great video Here some ideas for your future videos: Less famous species of squirrels in Africa (people think of big fauna when it comes to Africa) less famous species of mongoose. Less famous species of civet/genet. Less famous species of marsupials in South America.
My favorite is Syria brown bear In the past it lived alongside lions, tigers, leopards, cheetah, hyena, wolves, asiatic black bears, dhole West Asia was literally the only place of ice age era.
I have seen them in the wild it’s quite exciting and scary at the same time coastal brown bear in Brooks camp Alaska, as well as around the shores of Naknek lake, Not sure if the spelling is correct on that It was a chance of a lifetime and would love to do it again before I leave this earth😊
as a bolivian I've been told stories of two different spectacled bear populations, the ones closer to the andean mountains are smaller and eat more vegetation, while the ones more to the east, closer to the rainforest, are bigger and get killed more often, because people fear for their cattle. I wonder if they could eventually become subspecies, or even if they are already
I have a suggestion for a video: can you do "top 5 prehistoric animals that fascinated you the most"? It could be any kind of prehistoric animals, dinosaurs, marine reptile, flying reptile, prehistoric mammals, prehistoric birds, prehistoric marine animals, prehistoric insects, etc.
I work in the far north of Alaska. There are a family of Brown Bears in the area. We see them every year. They are rather small. There are also Polar Bears present, in the Summer. The brown bears appear to be a very light color. Although, I know it isn't an😂actual proof of hybridization, they sure do look so....... Love All Your Videos!
Here is a list of bears (not just brown bears) on who is the largest on average 1. Polar bear (mostly 1000-1200 pounds but foxe basin bears average 1322lbs) 2. Kodiak bear (1175lbs) 3. Ussuri brown bear and Kamchatka brown bear (880lbs) 4. Coastal/alaskan grizzly bear, stickeen brown bear, and abc islands brown bear (860lbs) there isn’t much information about the stickeen brown bear so I could be wrong about it’s size 5. East Siberian brown bear (780lbs/couldn’t find any information so I just used the number between 880 and 660) 6. European brown bear (660lbs) 7. Interior grizzly (600lbs) 8. Himalayan brown bear and Syrian brown bear (550lbs) 9. Tibetan blue bear (500lbs) 10. Marsican brown bear (478lbs) 11. American black bear (Virginia and other places where the bears are large/400lbs) 12. Gobi bear (304lbs) 13. Asian black bear (298lbs) 14. American black bear (smaller locations/275lbs) 15. Cantabrian brown bear and spectacled bear (254lbs) 16. Sun bear (143lbs) I’m pretty sure there are more bears so please comment any I forgot, or if I got any sizes wrong.
I don't think I've ever seen a brown bear in the wild, but I have seen several polar bears. I was surprised at the wide range of colouraion of these bears and suspect that those with attractive patterns would have been hunted for their skins, even more than is generally the case. I really enjoyed this video - I had no idea there were so many subspecies! ❤
Most brown bears I have seen in real life so far were in captivity (unfortunately). But I have seen quite some subspecies: Eurasian brown bear, Kodiak bear, Syrian brown bear and Grizzly bear
Does that mean that an animal is very successful if it is found in such a large area? So brown bears, grey wolves, and orcas are very successful species for having such a wide range.
Thank God we've managed to save the brown bear here in Greece, and the good thing is that they are generally multiplying. They are so magnificent creatures that it would be a shame to lose them.
Shake and test your bear mace before hikes/pitching tent and *don't feed the bears* (with human food or yourself): you'll only endager yourself, others and the bear.
I was on tiktok, and some kid made a video on how q Kodiak could beat a polar bear, but the cherry on top was the mf who said that the short faced bear could beat any of the... like no shit Sherlock a mega fauna animal can beat a modern one😲😲😲
If they were still around, we'd also have the Atlas Brown Bear of Northern Africa, as well as the Mexican, Eastern, and California Grizzlies
RIP 🫡

Forget Panda, protect the Gobi bear! It’s a vegetarian but doesn't just eat one thing, so it’s a step up in the coolness scale of bears.
I think china only really cares about pandas because its their national animal. If it where not. They be grinding those animals up and dry it it and eat it for medicinal purposes into nothing by now.
