Even if we're going with the ones still alive, we might also need to distinguish between native and invasive species. For example, Autralia has feral camels and water buffalo that are roaming the continent, but the largest native species is probably the red kangaroo.
I think great case is that of Przewalski horses. They were saved by captive breeding, but they are being quite sucesfully reintroduced back to their natural habitat in Mongolia.
I love these videos. I don't live in Europe, but the stories of its wildlife and how theres been ongoing efforts to bring them back are truly beautiful, hopefully bison, wild horses and auroches can help aid in the rewinding of Europe but more importantly I hope that lab grown crops and meats gain more traction as this will allow more crops to be grown without having to destroy more forest and other habitats for farming
Aww, you didn't talk about Beavers being reintroduced all over Europe, and more recently in the UK. They're incredibly beneficial animals, and I think more people need to know, so they can support reintroductions. They even recently reintroduced Beavers to Ealing (in London), in the hopes they'll boost rewinding efforts there, and also prevent flooding by increasing the water capacity of the Ealing wetlands.
I’m a bit surprised the European Bison wasn’t mentioned in this video, they’re story is the probably one of the most incredible conservation ones in the world, Eurasian Beavers also probably would have been good candidates to mention. But still good video mate, it’s nice to hear that some of these other amazing animals are starting to do a bit better.
@@TsukiCove ah well that makes sense. Cheers for the information mate, also apparently there has been a reintroduced in Scotland for the Wildcat, perhaps you could do a video on them if you haven’t already.

Seeing that this rewilding projects are going is heartwarming. My favourite one would have to be about beavers being reintroduced as considering climate change, they are definitely needed.

My country (the Netherlands) doesn't paint a pretty picture when it comes to rewilding and it's problems. Wolves have exploded back into our nature reserves by spreading from Germany. They have spread almost towards the middle of our country within 3-4 years and their population is growing. Problem is, farmers in the eastern parts of this country are very much into sheep and pony keeping and the wolves have taken to attacking them especially the sheep. Instead of looking for solutions and listening to biologists, ecologists and other experts and setting out a general plan there's been a very intense lobby and media demonisation campaign by the agricultural sector and its political allies based on fear and arguments like: "We as a country don't have the space for them!", "They will attack people!", "Now I can't have pet sheep!" or: "How are supposed to enjoy the little bit of nature when it's dangerous!" Obviously there are solutions for that but, they'll cost money and require actually committing to transitioning agricultural away from the Dutch model of hyper-intense agriculture which already was slowly nut surely and increasingly fast collapsing. The E.U is an obstacle to the outright hunting of wolves because, they're heavily protected but, that has fed into Euroscepticism and other far right tendencies. With elections at the end of this month, I fear the worst for the wolves (6 packs have already found their way to the wildest places to be found in our country and they had pups this spring and summer). It would be tragedy if the human territorial response and fear would drive them to extinction again.
Great video , we have cranes in Scotland but I’ve yet to see them. I made a video about the value of ecotourism to Scotland, looking at white-tailed eagles on Mull. They’ve had a significant impact economically and continue to generate wealth on the island today. Rewilding will undoubtedly bring huge benefits ecologically and economically if it is fully embraced by our governments.
Hey Tsuki, I was wondering if you could talk about the comeback of wolves in the Netherlands in one of your videos? Thanks in advance I love your vids.
didnt know the common crane was that threatend in the uk. up here in northen sweden they are so common you can see hundreds out on the fields sometimes.
It's a shame we are focussing to much on predators. The moor landscaped in Western europe are dying because we use sheep to maintain it. But now wolves are back in many of those areas those sheep are disappearing. It can be solved by adding reindeer back into western europe nature. Because they don't need cliff's to get away from wolves. Sadly nobody thought of this and now the wolf is getting alot of bad press. So before reintroducing predators we need to be sure their prey is available. Else it could have negative consequences. (This is mainly based on what I see happening in the Netherlands)
UA-camrs like these don't care for the genuine concerns of the people. All they say is, we don't own the planet, and then just swerve over other topics. And that is why I'm sceptical about rewilding. As it seems that they care only about rewilding but not the farmers, game keeper's or concerned families in general. They are like the people with the, with progress come sacrifice mindset's. And I don't trust them
I'm suprised you didn't included European Bison they baisicly went from extinct in the wild to near threatend and they are an amaizing sucess story
Love seeing all the good news! I’d also spotlight the European bison, European beaver, and Przewalski’s horse
You should do the largest animal from each continent ever(this is the most likes ever that I got)
They would all be sauropods 😹
Every single one of them would be a sauropod lol, maybe the largest animal on each continent in the cenozoic would be more interesting
Even if we're going with the ones still alive, we might also need to distinguish between native and invasive species. For example, Autralia has feral camels and water buffalo that are roaming the continent, but the largest native species is probably the red kangaroo.
Good point@@CrownofMischief
How about what the largest animal on each continent was prior to the arrival of humans? So for Australia, it would be Diprotodon.
I think great case is that of Przewalski horses. They were saved by captive breeding, but they are being quite sucesfully reintroduced back to their natural habitat in Mongolia.
